TLDR: Not as thick as I anticipated; pass it up if you dislike gel formulas or if you’re looking for a rich face cream. I’m layering it with oil until the weather warms up, but my skin LOVES it. Best it’s looked in ages ????????
Not having bought a Dior moisturizer in a while, I wasn’t aware that they’ve apparently discontinued/re-formulated/renamed the Hydra Life Comfort Creme but I suppose this is maybe what they’ve replaced it with? I loved the Pro-Youth Sorbet Creme when I had oiler skin, so I wanted to give the more hydrating formula a try on my post-accutane-dry-but-still-sensitive complexion.
It’s a gel formula; not creamy or thick at all. Incredibly lightweight and massages into your skin like a cool drink of water and absorbs quickly. It doesn’t feel silicone-y like Clinique Moisture Surge or other gel formulas I’ve tried. It also layers well with other formulas if you’re into serums and snake oils. It also layers well with makeup.
I’m just going to say it: you get what you pay for. I’ve been thriving off of Nivea, Cetaphil, Eucerin, and so forth all winter long because these gel formulas weren’t doing it for my parched skin. But my skin has not looked fresh or smooth in a long time, and I tend to have a couple odd clogged pores at any given time. Within THREE DAYS of using this layered with the same facial oil I always use, my skin is the smoothest and prettiest it’s looked in a long time. I always forget what it’s like to come home to your favorite formula after getting by with other (cheaper) brands a while.
Again I say, winter-dried skin does still feel a little tight with it right now, so I layered a couple drops of oil with it (Tarte Maracuja sample, if you’re so inclined) and am content with this. 10/10 would recommend give your skin a DRINK ????????
