Update 12/2019 I still am very happy with the way this product performs. It has a greasy finish, so daytime wear (on face) is not a possibility. When I wash my face after using GOW emu oil the night before, my skin is sooo smooth and supple! I’ve found if I’m not careful, I will get an occasional pimple due to its emollient nature. It’s perfect for body use day or night! I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, so my body’s skin can turn dry/flaky or irritated or get random rashes in a hot minute for no apparent reason. Emu oil has been a saving grace!
While GOW brand is excellent, I’ve fallen in love with LB Processor’s brand Garden Divine emu oil in their Ultra Clear grade—for facial use. I use that on my face because that specific emu oil does dry down and does not leave a greasy sheen on my face. It is clear, and more expensive—but worth it if you need a Winter daytime occlusion. GOW emu is white and works very well. If the dry down wasn’t greasy it’d stick solely with the GOW brand. But I need Emu oil during the day on brutal winter days as I have to go outdoors a lot. (And people see me, so greasy isn’t an option)
Original Review: I tried this because my sensitive, highly-allergic skin was flaring up with redness, irritation, and flaking. Am allergic to all nuts, seeds, coconut, fragrance, flowers, etc.. not many product options left. I ordered 2 sample sizes and crossed my fingers it would work with my skin.
I applied this at night after gentle cleansing—all over my moist, tender face, under my eyes, and on my elbows and hands. It’s a little greasy, but it soaked in overnight. A little goes a loooong way.
The next day my face was radiant and fully moisturized. My dry elbows were fully moisturized and my hands & cuticles were moist and in great shape! I used it nightly on my full face and hands/elbows.. I kept waiting for a potential breakout—but it never happened! I was so pleased I ordered a full size and I use it nightly. Again, a little goes a long way.
Once my face calmed down, I went back to using Garden of Wisdom Natural Majik Green Tea Hydragel in the mornings, after cleansing. I use the Natural Majik Green Tea Hydragel at night after cleansing, and apply my Emu Oil over the moist Hydragel. Sometimes I only use the Emu Oil at night. My face looks wonderful in the morning. I was using GOW Avocado Oil (which is great), but the Emu Oil seems to have healing properties for my skin.
There is no odor to the emu oil. It’s color is white. It’s light in texture… almost like a very emollient lotion. I travel with a sample size. It’s wonderful for Hands, cuticles, neck, body, and under eyes! This is staying in my current rotation.
If you have very sensitive skin, or if you have many allergies that prohibit using most products, Emu oil is a great option! And, the customer service from Garden of Wisdom is unsurpassed! (Not affiliated.)

I really, REALLY loved the effect of this oil but absolutely CANNOT stand the chicken fat/grease odor of it. Contacted GoW in case I got a bad batch and they unfortunately said the odor was normal, at least in their emu oil. Even if I apply this away from my nose I can still smell it, and the smell is persistent. Argan oil smells foul as well but at least its odor dissipates quickly. As I find the odor nauseating I’ll have to stick with rice bran, camellia, or argan oil.

I love this stuff. I use it undiluted under my eyes at night and on dry patches or dehydration lines from BP. I am very breakout prone and have super sensitive skin but have no problems with this. I usually son’t use it all over my face unless my (combo) skin is particularly dry/dehydrated but I do use it all over my body. I add a few drops to my CeraVe lotion and use it all over. It absorbs wonderfully and really adds that extra bit of moisture and smoothness to my skin. This oil has a wonderful non-greasy texture.
I keep a small amount in a .5oz amber glass dropper bottle (also from GOW) for ease of use and store the larger bottle in the fridge. When I need to refill my dropper bottle, I set the refrigerated bottle out for a bit to liquify, pout off what I need, and put it back in the fridge.

I keep coming back to emu oil. I’ve used it for some years now and it it keeps my skin balnced like nothing else I’ve tried. I’ve got sensitive, dry, dehytrated skin with hormonal acne. Garden of wisdom offer a good product to a fair price.

Packaging has changed to flip top which makes it easier to get the amount you want out and all it takes is a drop or two for your face…spray with distilled water or a hydrosol of your choice and your good to go! There are so many uses for Emu Oil and you can add stuff to it to adjust to what your skin may need.

My skin is acne/redness prone but also gets dry to the point of peeling/flaking in the winter. I LOVE how effective GOW emu oil is in keeping my skin dewy and soft while at the same time not breaking it out (I break out from almost every moisturizer I have used).
I apply liberal amounts of the oil right after washing my face while it is still wet and massage it in. This makes a huge difference as compared to applying it on a dry face. Results so far: I break out less, my skin is definitely looking healthier and the redness has decreased. I love this and will continue to buy this.
The packaging on the other hand is not ideal. It is packaged in a plastic bottle and experts recommend it be stored in the refrigerator. So I have to take it out and wait for the oil to liquefy from its solid state before application.

Love this stuff. I was originally terrified to put an oil on my face but this has never broken me out and my skin seems to be better from using it. I find I can’t use it in the mornings because it does make me a little greasier, but for night it is a wonderful addition to my GoW routine.

Rich and nourishing creamy white oil. Very calming, I use this on my face and body when I have allergy flare ups and my skin can tolerate little else. Easy to rub in and sinks in quickly. Makes skin feel very silky and protected. Great for the cuticles, hands and lips. Has a faint natural scent that goes quickly. In summer this is a liquid, in very cold winters its a mushy solid, may need warming to get it to dispense. On a par with the deep moisturisation of Shea Butter but easier to work with and smells better (Shea butter has a slight acid scent that isn’t bad but takes getting used to). I’m not keen on the dropper provided with this brand, I added my own pump and its much cleaner.

Ages ago, Emu oil mixed with lavender essential oil healed my serious teenage acne.

I have oily skin, born/cursed with it. That said, this oil has made my skin more supple, plump and happy than ever before. Never have I ever had an oil mimick my natural oils, perfected skin naturally. Amazing is the word to describe it. Buts shall I share my secret with others? I guess I shall..

If I could go back in time and give my teenage self one beauty product, it would be food grade, non heated, Australian Emu Oil. I use it on my hair, skin, nails and even on my gums as needed.
Emu oil is one of only a few oils that can penetrate the skin and the hair shaft. It is highly anti-inflammatory. It has lessened my occasional yet painful cystic acne. It works well on eczema and dry patches all over my body. It has cleared the rims of my eyes and cheeks from the few millia that I had.
I have been using emu oil for 8 years. I mix a few drops of it with some rose water and use it as a facial moisturizer including under my eyes. I spent hundreds of dollars and 25 years trying to find an under eye moisturizer that did not irritate my sensitive skin. Only emu oil works under my eyes.
I started growing out my now classic length hair 7 years ago. I mix some emu oil in both my shampoo and conditioner. I will occasionally do a deep conditioning from scalp to the ends by oiling my 50 inches of hair and sleeping on it. This oil has no scent and does not transfer to your pillow case. It leaves my hair in great condition.
If I get a sore gum, I will rub some emu oil on it for its anti-inflammatory effect. I have read of people with sensitive gums who combine it with their tooth paste for daily brushing.
If I had known about emu oil when I was younger, I could have saved myself much discomfort, money and time.
I purchase it from a supplier on eBay. Four ounces cost circa $16 and last me about 8 months. A little lasts a long time because it is very emollient. Plus, it absorbs very quickly into the skin and doesn’t leave it feeling greasy.

I purchased my emu oil from an etsy seller called Silky’s Garden. Emu oil is EXPENSIVE. I used to purchase it years ago in co-ops when I had my bath and body business. This is the only seller on etsy that sells emu oil at a decent price that I don’t mind paying. I purchased 4 oz because it’s just me using it, and I know a little goes a long way. It’s 100% Australian Gold Pure Emu Oil. No smell. No color. It’s a very good quality emu oil. Word of advice: If you ever purchase emu oil that has a smell, it’s probably rancid and no more good. Emu oil doesn’t have a long shelf life, so you need to buy in small quantities or put it in the fridge to make it last longer if you can’t use it up in a decent amount of time.
I have very sensitive skin. The most gentlest lotions/moisturizers on the market that are recommended by dermatologists usually irritate my skin. I’ll get burning, itching, redness, bumps, you name it. Now that I’m getting older, I needed something to help with the fine lines I am getting, especially under my eyes. I also have this one wrinkle on my forehead, which I call my “worry wrinkle”. I hate that damn wrinkle. So I purchased some emu oil, because I know that this is basically the only oil that probably wouldn’t break me out like I’m a teenager in high school. I also have weird combo skin. I’m oily in the T-zone, but yet, dry and flaky, especially on my nose and chin. How in the heck is that possible????
I use emu oil in my morning routine. I apply ONE DROP… because that’s basically all you need to cover your whole face. Any more and you’ll be a grease monkey. I apply it after my toner of Thayer’s Rose Water Witch Hazel, while my face is slightly damp. After applying, I usually wait a few minutes before starting my makeup. I give it time to soak in a bit, which it soaks in really well. After a few minutes, you can’t even tell I just applied oil to my face. My facial skin has been a lot softer since using this. I’m not noticing anything with the fine lines and that one damn wrinkle, but I know I won’t see results right away. I’m just happy that I can moisturize the flaky parts of my face with this oil.
Also works wonders on dry cuticles, hell… it works to moisturize your whole body!

I haven’t had this long enough to attest to its effects. My initial review is on the basics.
After doing research, I paid extra (about $10 more) for the “certified” version at a vitamin store. The non-certified versions have extra, unnecessary ingredients which lessen its efficacy.
There’s absolutely no scent which I love. It is on the greasy side but it absorbs quickly into your skin. My bottle comes with a dropper that kind of makes a mess.
This products thickens if stored in less than 65°. The instructions say to heat it up in the sun or place the bottle in some hot water to liqify it. I keep mine in my restroom and after only two days, it has thickened considerably.
It reminds me of jojoba oil, but this is more greasy. Nevertheless, it is more emollient than jojoba oil.
I am using it for some acne issues and to try to thicken my hairline by massaging it in every other day. I will update my review in a month or so to report on if it’s something working.

This is the best skin moisturizer I have ever ever ever EVER used. Getting used to the fact that it is the fat from an animal might take several applications to get used to, but when you do you will be astonished at how incredibly soft and supple your skin will be. To be honest I do not think I will ever go back to conventional moisturizers, because this is my holy grail oil! I use the EMU oil from Sprouts and it is non greasy and sinks into the skin in minutes. It also helps hyperpigmentation which is amazing. LOVE!

This is my favourite oil. I use it for SOO many purposes it`s amazing. First of all I use this p.m. after I cleanse and applied my HA serum (I like the ones by GoW) while my face is still damp. I let my face dry for about 20 minutes and then I apply my retinoid product (using diacneal by avene). Emu oil buffers AND helps the actives in diacneal penetrate my skin better. When I wake up next morning my face looks very even toned (never had this with diacneal alone and it often was irritated and red), dewy and healthy. My acne scars also seem to fade faster. I never experienced any breakouts from it and I`m very acne/clog-prone and sensitive/dry. I also use it on my legs after shaving. I have very thick, black hair (I know…:-/) and I often experience irritations after I shave. Using emu-oil totally prevents this and my skin looks nice, even-toned and moisturized. Due to my job I often have bruises and scratches somewhere on my body. Emu oil calms them immediately and makes them heal very very quickly. Also if I have muscular pain, I massage with emu oil and it helps a lot. I know that many people are turned off by emu oil due to the fact that it comes from an animal. I`m a vegetarian and I am thankful that there is such a great product coming from the emu bird next to its meat no one really needs and just eats for their taste. I still don`t think that the slaughtering is justified but I think it is good to get as much out of the bird as possible if it`s killed anyway and even do medical good with it. It is supposed to be very good for treating eczema too. Love it and will repurchase.

I’m on the fence on this one. I’m not sure I like it. I can’t use it on my face because it breaks me out but I like to use it before bed on my legs and arms. I find that my blemishes are fading away slowly but surely and I’m pretty sure its because of this. So yeah, love this on my body… but not on my face. Don’t think I’ll repurchase though. I want to try some other brands first.

I had tried another brand of emu oil and didn’t like it at all. It was thick, smelly, with an inconsistent texture. It made my dry skin look oily and broke me out. What a difference with GOW. A few drops sink in, leaving a dewy glow. There’s no smell, no allergic reaction. It’s pretty much a dream product.

I’ve tried a lot of oils and emu oil is by far my favorite. It’s hard to find an oil that moisturizes acne prone skin without clogging, most of the “safe” oils are too drying (grapeseed) or just don’t moisturize enough (maracuja). This one actually seemed to penetrate and do something other than being greasy. It grosses me out that it’s from an animal, but I use lanolin for my lips and that’s animal based as well so I just try not to think about it!
EDIT****I have been using this in conjunction with Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion (moist) and OMG my skin looks and feels better than it has in years. I’m not sure which is the biggest factor, but I will continue to use this combo as long as it works! My skin is hydrated, calm, even toned, and glowing. I love it!

SUPER hydrating, feels a little greasy but still pretty light for being an oil. The best moisturizing oil I have found.

Emu Oil is filled with omegas that actually penetrate subdermally. No fragrance, and repairs the worst dry skin. In the winter I mix a couple drops in with my Paula’s Choice moisturizer and my face is dewy and glowing.
