This moisturizer made my skin feel like it was burning..

I received a full size of this in a subscription box, and while I think it’s a nice product, I won’t’ be repurchasing when I run out. I mean I don’t dislike it (although it kind of burns – what the heck), but I don’t love it. It doesn’t do anything for my face that a basic moisturizer won’t do. I like the smell – but it’s heavily scented if you are on the fragrance free train – this probably is not for you. The one thing I do like is the gel like consistency, but to really feel like it’s doing it’s job I have to use a lot. My 30 year old skin thinks this would probably appeal to the 20 something crowd.

Sticky. Overscented. Disappointing.

Open packaging in a jar again, so I had to use a scoop for sanitary reasons. I found this gel-like consistency moisturizer not moisturizing enough for my dry skin. I used it in conjunction with other products as an essence instead, that’s how light in moisturizing it really is for my skin.
It absorbs well and doesn’t feel greasy, nor does it have any particular odor to it. It’s probably good for oily skins or those skins that don’t need much moisturizing in the summer. I could never use this product alone because it doesn’t do anything for my skin.
It’s designed to soothe and refresh parched skin. It didn’t do that for mine. It’s also listed as an anti-aging product, I would guess because of the hyaluronic acid it contains. My skin doesn’t react well to hyaluronic acid for whatever reason and won’t plump as it’s supposed to according to documentation. So any product that contains it is worthless to me. It seems the hyaluronic acid makes my skin drier and instead of a plumping effect, highlights any wrinkles, thus making my skin look the worst it can ever look.
Drink of H2O is a definite pass for me. If you like gel-consistency products and need/want hyaluronic acid in your regimen, either get a trial size or sample first to see how it works for your skin.

For a product that contains hyaluronic acid, why is this so lackluster and not moisturizing enough for my oily/combination skin? This product comes in a jar at $39 for 1.70 oz and has a slight scent that smells like it’s supposed to be citrus. The product is a gel consistency which is what I usually go for when it comes to a daytime moisturizer because it won’t feel too heavy under makeup. Despite the fact that it is lightweight, it doesn’t ultimately do what a moisturizer is supposed to do which is to hydrate the skin. I find that my nose area is especially dry when using this product. It’s just not good and there are so many other gel moisturizers that cost less and plump up the skin without added greasiness. My current fave is the CosRx Oil-free Ultra Moisturizing Lotion with Birch Sap which costs $20 for 100 mL or 3.38 oz and comes in packaging that isn’t a jar. Personally, I haven’t been impressed with any of Tarte’s skincare in the past and this doesn’t change that in the slightest.

I’m beginning to wonder if dimethicone is the secret ingredient in all of these types of “drink of water/cloud cream” type moisturizers because it appears high up the list and they all feel similar to me, leaving that silky feeling behind on your skin like only a silicone can. It does make for a beautiful pre-makeup base, skin is so soft and smooth after application. This moisturizer reminds me a lot of Peter Thomas Roth Cloud Cream. I don’t think that silicones are all that bad, especially if it keeps the hyaluronic acid moisture locked in your skin. It’s a nice light weight moisturizer, good for summer. Or if you have normal to oily skin you could probably wear this in colder/drier climates. I won’t be wearing this in winter as it won’t be enough for my dry skin but right now it feels nice, no complaints with the product itself. I purchased this in a mini-kit that included the maracuja oil and also the eye cream (which I love!) because I like small containers for travelling and it gives me long enough to test out and decide whether or not I would purchase the full size option. Would I purchase this in a full size? Probably not – it’s too pricey in my opinion and not well suited to my needs but it is a nice light moisturizer and I do like it.

I got a 15ml sample of this product. While being a big Tarte makeup fan, I’m not sold on this moisturizer. It has a gel consistency, opaque in colour, and smells a bit like lavender to me but fades quickly. It’s a bit sticky after it is applied so you have to wait to let it dry before applying makeup. I’m more hit than miss with primer so I’m usually applying makeup right over top. Makeup goes on ok but there’s no primer or blur effect — my pores look as big as ever. All in all, it might be ok for someone with younger skin but I’m going back to my Vichy moisturizer.

It has a great soothing effect initially but it wears off so quickly. I don’t feel that it’s hydrating enough to last me throughout the day and you don’t get much product. The packaging is adorable but that’s really all there is to this product. I’ve tried drugstore products that are a fraction of the price and work much better. Save your money and pass on this!

I love this moisturizer! It is a gel like consistency but moisturized so well but the wow factor came when I woke the next morning with smooth glowing skin. It’s a bit pricy but IMO worth it. Plus the Tarte packaging looks so pretty on the counter. Note: I have normal skin and use after cleaning and toning. Would repurchase and recommend!

I got a sample of this. I will not buy it. I actually found that it dried my skin out.
