Unfortunately, I just submitted my return for this item. I currently use Estee Lauder face cleanser in the morning and at night I use their eye cream, hydrating oil and a moisturizer which seem to work great. I was looking for more day time products to boost my skin regimen. I have VERY OILY skin. In the past I was applying a Vitamin capsule in place of a moisturizer. Ironically, this did not cause my skin to be oily and it worked well. But I was really looking for the same brand products to use consistently. As soon as I added this to my regimen, my face became EXTREMELY oily again. I have no idea why it’s called oil control but that is not the reaction I had. Overall, it’s still a very nice moisturizer, smells good and goes on great. I hesitated on the return. But I cannot deal with all the excess oil. It’s extremely uncomfortable wiping your face of oil throughout the day, at work meetings, etc. We all have different reactions and I’m just speaking from my own. I will continue to use my other Estee Lauder products and even a moisturizer at night, but this moisturizer was not good for me during the day and not oil control.

So I got this product because the lady at Sephora recommended it to me (i listened cause she had great skin!) . It felt nice on the skin once applied, but i had to put my Guerlain baby glow liquid foundation on top of it and that’s when the mess began! Both creams started peeling off even though I use a very thin layer of foundation and not all over my skin. For two months, foundation application has been a daily stress. I can’t wait to finish it so I can buy sth else. i live in a cold city and stay 10h at work with AC, so my skin gets really dry and this moisturizer didn’t really seem to work even when applied alone.

I have been a long time user of the regular DayWear cream and loved it. I have combination skin, sometimes oily later in the day. I tried out the DayWear Matte and it was MUCH too dry for me. I think this would be a good product for VERY oily skin, but definitely not for anyone who considers themselves combination. I also didn’t realize until I returned it that it doesn’t have SPF in it, and the regular DayWear does. Nordstrom happily let me exchange it for the regular DayWear and that’s going to be what I stick with.

I’ve been using this moisturizer (along with the DayWear Oil-Free SPF 25) for two years. It’s a very good, lightweight gel that will leave your skin feeling very fresh, matte but still hydrated, but since it has no SPF in it, you have to top it off with another sunscreen. This product does exactly what it says – it keeps your skin matte throughout the day, but nothing more.
The jar packaging means that all the good ingredients and antioxidants break down with time since it will always be exposed to air. There are also a few ingredients towards the end of the ingredient list that can be very damaging to the skin – such as Laureth-4. While it didn’t cause me any major breakouts, while I was using it I kept getting small bumps frequently, but I always thought they were from another skincare product. They went away once I stopped using the product, six months ago.
I don’t think this is a bad moisturizer if all you’re looking for is to keep your skin matte all day. But I definitely don’t think it’s worth the money if you consider the packaging and the fact that you’d have to buy another SPF product anyway. There are better moisturizers out there in better packaging and with better ingredients, so I won’t be repurchasing this product in the future.

At first i was happy, cause it lasted 3 hours. The other moistures i tried(La Roche Posay mat effaclar, korres wild rose)didn’t last 3 hours. Then i saw that the creme said 10 hours matte. So untrue. It should last at leat 6 hours.I don’t recommend it because it costs 55euros and lasts only 3 hours.I will not buy it again.I also tried Clinique’s pep start last month(which is a best seller) and it was very heavy for me.I gave it to my mother who has dry skin. The best moisture is from frezyderm a greek company. Also it is cheap only 20 euros and last 4-5 hours

This is an extremely elegant light blue opaque cream gel with a natural satin-matte finish that last for many hours.
It is based on a volatile hydrocarbon oil and silicone oil and has a silicone elastomer added for further shine control. However, the real oil-absorption comes from Polypropylene wax. This also enables a pretty finish.
It has a very light feel and is lightly hydrating and after application it will absorb fully without leaving any oily residue on the skin.
Excellent for the summer or for warmer climate. Or for oilier skin type in the colder weather under make-up or as a night cream.
It has some very good anti-oxidants (EGT, EUK-134, Thermus Thermophillus Ferment and oil soluble vitamin C to name the most impressive ones) and anti-aging actives (Narcissus Tazetta Bulb Extract) too. Although, (even the combined) the concentration might unfortunately be very low.
The only negative I find with this product is the somewhat strong fragrance that does linger longer than necessary.

I do enjoy Estee Lauder but sometimes their fragrances are too strong or fake smelling. This Daywear Matte has a nice cucumber smell but it is slightly artificial. It did not irritate my skin, but some days the smell is overwhelming.
The product does feel nice on the skin, but it did not penetrate. It just sat on the surface. I waited 5 minutes to see if it would soak in prior to applying my foundation. The foundation (EL Doublewear) applied nicely, but after 2 hours, my foundation was starting to separate and cake up around my cheeks. It also did nothing to help my pores , they actually looked bigger. I did not stay matte, but rather more oily.
Try EL Clear Difference Gel if you are oily and want to stay matte.
