I have spent the past few years trying to find a product that matches prescriptives comfort cream. I thought they stopped selling it. I used it faithfully for a decade. Finally after my last purchase broke my face out I voiced my frustration to a friend who suggested I look online. To my surprise they still sell it. I almost cried tears of joy – not an exaggeration. I have combination skin that is fickle. Oily t-zone with dry patches. This is the only product that has given me soft clear skin. Never again will I be without this product! Only drawback is the lack of sunscreen so I put a tinted moisturizer on top and it works fine.

While Prescriptives makeup and skincare products are no longer available in stores, the website remains and some are still available for purchase there.
The good news is that they keep bringing popular products back, and this is one that has returned.
I have quite a few favorite Prescriptives products — mostly cosmetics, but some skincare — so i am happy to see at least some of them available again… I keep hoping they will bring back more, as my HG foundation was one of theirs, and i am having a truly difficult time finding a replacement.

MAC is getting this product since perscriptives is gone 🙂 Love it so far!! I have pretty oily skin during the summer and I break out easily.. now that is winter my skin is drying out but I use this at night and it’s working really well, no break outs or anything and my skin usually breaks out if I try anything new on it

I logged in today just to praise this cream. I have extremely, wildly sensitive skin, and it’s been so acne-prone lately (then, subsequently, very dry because I am zapping it hard with retin-a every two nights, and bezoyl peroxide every day). Obviously, it’s a bit shell-shocked.
So while making progress controlling the breakouts, my skin was extremely dry and peeling. I went to Prescriptives for a concealer (very impressed with their matching!) and the rep told me my skin was too dry for any makeup to look good. She gave me a sample because I hate paying tons for moisturizers given how volatile my skin is…many products cause reactions.
Anyway, I’ll be back to buy it; my skin looks better now than a week ago, feels exceptionally soft, and, while I wish it had some anti-aging properties, I am so relieved to have found something that truly works without creating new problems on my skin. It definitely works for me where practically everything else out there has caused breakouts.

great for night time, but not for day time unless you have dry skin. it’s quite thick, but absorbs well and quickly into the skin. it’s creamy, so a little goes a long way. ive been using mine daily every night for about a month, and ive just barely grazed the top. this will probably last me forever! great for any skin type, but it’s specifically made for ‘sensitive skin.’ it comes in tub (cream) and pump (lotion) form, so you have a choice in formula and packaging. makes my skin comfortable, hydrated, but not greasy and sticky. i wake up to dewy, very supple skin…i bet it does wonders for dry skins! great for winter months, and im curious to see how it will be for me as we’re hitting warmer months now.

Before I started using La Mer and spending a ton more on my skin care line, I was using this product during the winter. I loved this product because it was generally pretty good. It made my face feel so soft and velvety, my boyfriend at the time could not get his hands off of my face.
Although the product was great, it did not help with some of the constant flakiness I would get around the side of my mouth during the winter. It would work for only and hour and the flakiness would come back.
Another reason why I would probably not go back to this product anytime soon despite how much I like it is because I’m trying to focus more on using products that are more anti-aging since I’m 24 and need to focus more on products that have more antioxidants and preventative ingredients.
If you’re looking for a product that mainly moisturizes, this is a great one to use.

Like a few others have said – I REALLY wanted to like this cream (especially after having to pay so much)! It was suggested by sales staff that it would help help rehydrate my skin but instead, all it did was make it peel!!!! I know its this cream – when I stop using it the peeling went away. From time to time I’ve tried it again.. and again.. and with the same result! I also ended up with whiteheads for the first time ever while using this cream – and again (after the nastyness of having to get rid of them) they haven’t returned since giving up on this product. And I can’t believe that they are still using a pot and not a measured dispenser. I won’t be buying it ever again.

I bought this cream when I had a reaction on my neck from a cheap necklace. The irritation just wouldn’t go away. I asked for help from Prescriptives, and this is what they suggested. I used this for several days, and while my sore skin didn’t feel better immediately(should have used hydrocortisone also), it did get better quickly, thank goodness. I’ve since had irritation in the same area from wearing high-neck sweaters this winter. I slap this on immediately now…it works. I’ve also used it on my super-dry cheek area for relief. It’s my go-to skin soother…wonderful stuff!
Oh, and on the issue of how hygenic jars are…there’s enough preservatives in jars to ward off an army of microbes. Be assured that every company out there knows just how much to add to jars to keep them pure. Companies don’t want their products going bad, so they take great pains to prevent that from happening. Jars allow greater access to creams that are hard pressed to flow through pumps. Oxidation is another matter for ingredients that are suceptable to oxygen damage, but companies plan for that too…they’re not generally stupid. I cringe every time I see someone complaining about widemouth jars. Some common sense in this area would alleviate unecessary paranoia.

I bought this when my skin was dryed out from benzaclin and the winter, and it made me break out so badly almost instantly. It also felt greasy, and didn’t absorb well. Also, I don’t care for pots that requre you to put your fingers in or use a spatula. Why do all these companies still use pots??
The oil free lotion might have been a better option, but this is what the SA recomended. I have avoided all px “comfort” line ever since.
