I don’t understand the people giving this bad reviews? It definitely won’t give you blackheads or cause acne. I almost think they are paid reviews from other brands to lower the rating. Anyways, I hope this sheds some light on this product (and the Clear Days Ahead range).
MY SKIN: Combination. Oily (T zone), dry on cheeks/chin/neck. Acne prone (mainly on jaw/chin). Light colored skin, maybe a little tanner but still light.
MY ROUTINES:
My Morning routine: Clear days ahead face wash, Clear Days ahead moisturizer.
My Night routine: Simple (brand) Micellar water makeup remover wipes, Clear Days Ahead face wash, Clear Days Ahead treatment
pads, Clear Days Ahead Moisturizer
My Every Other Night Routine: My regular night routine, but a face mask right after I wash my face and before I use the treatment pad then moisturize. The face mask is by the same brand, it is the Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Exfoliating Mask. I exfoliate pretty aggressively before it gets too stiff to move anymore, then let it dry for 10 minutes, then exfoliate roughly again when I wet my face to take it off. Literal MAGIC.
WHY I’M BUYING THIS AGAIN, AND PROBABLY FOREVER: First- this is my first review on here. I have had acne pretty much all my life, and have tried a lot of different skincare routines (Drunk Elephant, Peter Thomas Roth, Murad, Mario Badescu, Dermoligca, Neutrogena, Clinique, IT, etc) and the Clear Days Ahead routine knocks them all out of the park. This routine I have perfected is FOOLPROOF. Like, I have spent all the money on trial and error for you. Trust me. The Clear Days Ahead line doesn’t get as much praise as it should, and I’m convinced all the negative reviews are people working for other brands. Just make sure you moisturize really well after. It has the perfect PH for Salicylic acid, in both the face wash/pads/and moisturizer.
PACKAGING: The moisturizer will literally squirt out like ketchup if you press even a little too hard. I just hold it slightly upside down and let gravity do the rest. Make sure to rub it in quickly or else it won’t get to the places you need to moisturize in time. The packaging can definitely use a revamp. On the other hand, maybe it’s like that because that’s how true salicylic acid moisturizers are supposed to be consistency wise? If that’s what it takes to make a great moisturizer, then so be it.
HEADS UP: Your skin WILL flake a bit in the beginning. It’s just adjusting. Power through and you will be rewarded with acne free, smooth, bright skin. If you suffer from really dry skin, use another moisturizer on top of it (I recommend Cerave- very noncomedogenic and hydrating).
IN CONCLUSION: Buy this. Buy the range. Follow my routine. Hydrate more if you have too, but give it a month of adjustment. Most importantly- stay CONSISTENT. Consistency is key. You will have fabulous skin, trust me.

Best salicylic acne product I’ve tried. It’s an unscented, 1% SA lotion. It keeps my skin even and my pores looking clean and oh so tiny unlike anything I’ve tried. I don’t use it as a moisturizer but instead treat it like a serum – putting a heavier cream on top once it’s dried. I have dry skin and though this doesn’t dry me out (like all the other BHAs I’ve tried), it’s not moisturizing enough to use alone. I can’t speak to its affect on acne – I use it for my pores/ sebaceous filaments.

All this did was clog more pores even more. This is a light gel cream that is fragrance free and contains 1 % salicylic acid. For a prestige brand, the ingredients are pretty basic. For the price, I would have expected some antioxidants or skin soothing ingredients. I actually do way much better with drugstore benzoyl peroxided applied daily to my T-zone and cleaning my skin with Free & Clear cleanser.

Smells absolutely awful to me, I despise the scent so much. Despite that this BHA moisturizer works. I apply a generous amount to my face about 2 nights a week and it helps keep my acne at bay and leaves my skin soft and not dried out at all. Great product for people with oily/acne prone skin that can be sensitive. Will repurchase.

I’d been warned that in your 20s your skin changes, but I got hit hard with problems on my cheeks. I picked this up after doing a lot of research on different AHAs to try and combat my skin issues, and I ADORE it. It warns that it can be drying and to work your way up to regular use, but I haven’t had an issue at all- and my skin can dry out so quickly. I do stick to my problem areas and use a different moisturiser around my nose, forehead and eyes, so I can’t speak to if it might be drying around the eyes.
My skin texture is so smooth and my break outs have really settled down. Even if I DO get something here or there, I find they’re very superficial and easily picked (a terrible habit I know, but I’m a chronic skin picker), and heal very quickly.
The packaging is good- nothing special, but not a jar, and that’s really all that matters in these things. It’s warned that prolonged use can make you prone to sun damage. I use SPF 45 every single day anyway, so this wasn’t an imposition for me. My only real complaint about the product is the amount you get for the price, but frankly, it’s done so much for my skin, I think it’s worth it.
As someone with sensitive skin and often deep under the skin bumps that I’ve been trying to keep away for years, this is a wonderful product. Pricey, maybe, but worth it. If you stick to applying it to your problem areas, it’ll last even longer. Honestly, I feel confident going out with no foundation now in a way I haven’t since before I started wearing makeup. Totally worth giving a try and seeing if it works for you too.

I’ve been looking for a good, effective BHA moisturizer/ exfoliant lotion for a long time now. A little background on my skin:
Even when I don’t have “active” breakouts, I always get little whiteheads and blackheads as a matter of course. It doesn’t matter how many charcoal masks I use, how much I keep my skin clean or use my Foreo Luna, or apply AHAs. I knew I needed BHAs, but was struggling to find the right one which would be effective for my stubborn, whitehead-prone skin.
I previously tried Paula’s Choice BHA lotions (hopelessly ineffective on me.) I then tried Cos RX Blackhead Power serum, which was better but still not dramatically effective. I honestly didn’t have very high hopes for this one, considering the BHA % is actually lower than those two. But lo and behold – I applied it the first night and instantly it had an undeniably smoothing effect!! It’s like all the ‘budding” bumps or whiteheads had been nipped in the bud, and it keeps the skin clog-free and gets rid of congestion.
My skin felt way smoother and softer with less clogging my pores, so this functions for me as a safety bet against acne.
What’s been working for active acne is Avene’s Triacneal cream (works a dream)… but for preservation of overall skin health and de-clogging, this is magic.
PROS:
Really gentle on skin
Moisturizing
Keeps skin clog-free
Helps stop the formation new budding whiteheads – BEST THING about this.
Not oily or greasy
CONS:
The lid is soo annoying – there is just 2 oz of this and a TON of product oozes out of the bottle at the mildest squeeze.
Expensive!! Especially for so little product.
Best to apply at night (though it’s NOT thick or greasy — so its not that you absolutely can’t apply it during the day either..)
Thumbs up!

This has become my favorite BHA, but the price is prohibitive (I get a solid discount on most products). It’s exceeding gentle for a BHA, has no smell, and left me with no irritation while using it 5 days per week (I take two days off for other serums). I like it better than Paula’s Choice’s options, although I swear by those in a heartbeat. My preference for this BHA is due to the emollient qualities, and I highly recommend it for treatment of acne & blackheads.

The product works gently to exfoliate and treat acne on my normal/combination skin. It doesn’t prevent acne altogether, but it does reduce the time they last. While it treats acne, the moisturizer isn’t drying. The instructions say use 2-3 times a day. I find twice a day to be enough. The moisturizer doesn’t go well under makeup! It looks obvious if I apply BB cream or foundation over it.

I bought this because it’s one of the few salicylic acid moisturizers that have the correct % and pH range (according to Paula’s Choice).
I’ve been using this for about 2.5 months and I’m quite pleased with it. After an initial 3 week purging period, it has actually kept my skin very smooth and clear. It’s not very moisturizing, so even for my combo/oily skin this won’t be sufficient in the winter. But it’s perfect as a summer time moisturizer if followed by an SPF product.
It’s very pricey for an acne treatment that doesn’t really do much else, and I hate the flip top cap. The opening is way too big and too much product oozes out with even a mild squeeze of the tube. SOLUTION: I switched caps with one from a handcream I have (not Philosophy), which is the same size but a much smaller opening. Works great now! Perfect amount of product every time!
I’ll repurchase this until I can find a less expensive substitute that works equally well….
My question is this: With facts about salicylic acid’s efficacy in a limited % and pH range widely known in the beauty industry (hello Internet Age), why do most companies still KNOWINGLY manufacture and sell acne products that just don’t and CAN’T work????

I really like this moisturizer! I bought it as insurance against acne, not really as a treatment for existing acne, but it does help with that, too. I read about it on Paula Begoun’s website, which I read with a grain of salt (or two), and thought that I would try it out because I have mild acne and also some hormonal acne. It’s really pleasant to use and feels very silky. It does contain a lot of silicone, but not cyclopentasiloxane, which is the only one my skin really hates. It dries pretty quickly and does a good job of moisturizing without being oily or clogging. I actually love the feel of rubbing it on my face.
I used it day and night and it lasted me a few months. I definitely plan on repurchasing because it helped keep acne at bay and kept my existing acne from blowing up. The only thing wrong with this moisturizer is the horrible packaging. It comes in a squeeze tube that always squirts out too much and leaks all over the inside of the cap. It would be so much better housed in a pump jar or with a tube that had a smaller opening. Regardless of the crap packaging, though, I’m picking up another tube.
