Reference point: I have young skin (25 year old), not sensitive or breakout prone (occasional pimple once in a while), never been oily. I’d describe myself as normal, sometimes slightly dry skin. I live in a hot, humid region when I first started using this and I never found it too heavy.
Packaging: Simple, apothecary jar that still manages to look chic and classy on my vanity. The jar makes it able for me to get all the product out. Cons – not a big fan of dipping my fingers in the jar since its slightly unsanitary.
Effect: I like Aespo – it’s that ‘organic’, no fuss brand. This moisturizer is simply put, a good moisturizer. I’ve really noticed no breakthrough, miracle skin effects – the areas of my skin that have more pigmentation don’t look lighter, the areas that are aging don’t look more youthful… etc. It hasn’t broken me out or caused irritation. The scent is light and ‘natural’ smelling – the same scent Jurlique has – botanical, organic, reminds you of Whole Foods –> overall non-offensive. I apply it both day and night after my cleanser, toner, serum. I find that despite that initially it feels thick, it absorbs EXTREMELY rapidly without any greasy residue or impact on my primer and foundation application. My skin after 3 months of using this feels supple, dewy, glowing, smooth, soft. After using this my skin is soft and clear and simply put, feels pretty great!
The price point is decent. Will I continue to repurchase? I’m not 100% sure. I am ‘in like’ with this moisturizer. It’s not a holy grail – but it does what I expected it do – moisturize my skin, not irritate it or break it out, sink in very quickly. Try out Aesop, they are generous with their samples and have great prices and products that live up to their claims. 🙂

I received a few samples of this product and applied it a few days. Even though I’m into products with sweet scent, I really dont like the scent of this product. It does help to hydrate my skin the whole day and it doesn’t feel sticky. I have oily T-zone so it gets oilier especially in the hot climate. I just have to use a blotter to blot it and it doesn’t aggravate my oily T-zone. I will not consider to buy the product as I rather it to be scentless than the botanical scent.

I am aware that creams should not come in jars. Anything in the cream that would be useful for the skin gets exposed to the air, oxidizes and then does nothing. But I chose this cream for its texture, for the oils used in the cream’s composition (which I don’t think suffer from air exposure the same way antioxidants do, for example- correct me if I’m wrong!) and the way my skin reacts. I cannot put heavy creams on my skin- I just begin to break out. But I do try to find a cream that has a light texture that absorbs easily and leaves my skin soft and supple. This fits the bill. The two sizes have a good rapport quality-price, and I just finished my small jar that I began in May, so 9 months, give or take, using a little dollop every evening and sometimes in the morning.
I will definitely purchase again and even more happily if Aesop would place put this in better packaging!
