I’m now on my third jar. I would call it a bit heavy versus other moisturizers, but I’m seeing an amazing difference in my skin and I think this moisturizer deserves some of the credit for it. Spots have faded, fine lines have reduced, and I have no dry skin despite it still being winter. I also gifted some to my mom, who doesn’t have my extensive skincare routine and she’s seen a difference in her lines as well. And can’t beat the ingredients! So much goodness and not much to complain about. Cute little jar that allows scraping out the very last drops without waste. The very last step in my am and pm routine. Plays fine with makeup so long as I use a primer.

I LOVE Korean skincare and I have been using K-Beauty products for the past 2-3 years. One of the cult K-Beauty products is this Beauty of Joseon Dynasty Cream. I have heard so many great reviews about this product, so of course I got really curious.
This cream has a really strange consistency like goo and it does leave your skin sticky, so I prefer to use it as a night cream. It is super hydrating and makes my skin feel soft and smooth in the morning. Since my skin is dry and gets easily irritated in the cold weather this product works like magic. The only thing that bothers me about this product is that it contains fragrance.
I can highly recommend this product for those with dry skin.

I mainly bought this after reading good reviews and due to its cool branding/packaging. This product has super nice packaging as it comes in a heavy glass jar, and it has a strong rose/floral scent.
It works fine as a moisturizer but gives me small closed comedones so I would not repurchase. The ingredient list is extremely long, I assume it’s something in there although I can’t pinpoint the culprit.

Beauty of the Joseon Dynasty Cream is a wonderful moisturizer. Overall, it is a good product for my dry and dehydrated skin. The only cons are that it has a medium to strong fragrance and it can be hard to locate for purchase.
Packaging: Small, heavy, frosted glass jar (50ml). When first received, there is a small decorative paper wrapped around the lid. This comes right off, but it is pretty for a second. There’s also a small plastic spatula. It comes in a white cosmetic box. The presentation is very nice and the jar seems luxe.
Texture: It is called a cream, but the texture isn’t like a typical cream moisturizer. It’s a bit hard to describe, but to me it’s in between a cream and gel, with a bouncy texure.
Scent: It has a scent. It’s a bit fresh, floral and powdery. The scent fades after application. Even though the scent didn’t irritate my skin or eyes, this goes into the con category for me. I personally prefer that skincare items aren’t heavily scented.
Ingredients: Since the ingredient list is in Korean, I don’t have the full list. However, the blog Snow White and the Asian Pear (no connection) was able to get the list translated and provides it on her site along with a really helpful analysis. The first ingredients are water, moisturizers, niacinamide, a fatty acid emulsifier, and hyaluronic acid. Niacinamide is the 4th ingredient. There’s also shea butter, aragan oil, ceramides, olive oil, and a number of other plant extracts. The ingredient list is a bit long, so if you are sensitive to anything, I would check it out first.
Application: I apply this as I would any other moisturizer. I apply it after a Scinic Ampoule.
Results: I have dry and dehydrated skin. My rountine has helped counter the dryness. I really like this cream. It moisturizes well. My skin is dewy after application. It is not greasy, oily or too heavy. It sits well with my other skincare and under makeup. After application, it can feel a bit tacky on the skin and may take a bit to sink in. Due to this, some may prefer to use this as a night moisurizer. It’s also advertised as a whitening cream (ie not lightening, but reduction of pigmentation). I don’t have any serious pigmentation issues, so I can’t speak as to how well it works on that front. It did not cause any irritation or breakouts.
Price: This cream is made by a Korean company called Crowley Large Factory. They don’t seem to have much of an online presence, so this cream is a bit hard to track down and the prices vary. On average, I’ve seen it range from $19 – $25 USD. I personally wouldn’t pay more than that. Currently, those in the US can purchase on ebay, Amazon and via sites like Jolse. I picked mine up on ebay.
