   I’m confused… I just bought this because it was fragrance free, turned the bottle around and last ingredient is freaking fragrance. What? Can anyone explain??

   So far, so excellent! The first thing I must comment on with this moisturizer is how creamy it feels, but (at least on my skin) it melds instantly into almost “nothing”, but in a good way, like it immediately sinks in and starts delivering all the great ingredients in this formula into the skin.

   Now, the ingredients list is massive, but is chock-full of really great benefits, and the skincare natural science nerd in me is impressed and fully satiated. The two key players that give this moisturizer its name, almond lightly hydrates the skin while also helping slightly with some pore unclogging believe it or and aloe is a well-known gentle but not greasy soother.

   Lavender in a small quantity acts as a great detoxifyer.

   Vitamin C/L’absorbic acid- great for collagen production and brightening.
   Licorice more good brightening (my skin adores this ingredient)

   Jojoba a skin-identical (ie absorbing but nonclogging) emolient.

   And lactic and glycolic acid Ahas and the BHA salacylic acid (my skin does not tolerate this acid well, but does here due to the low quantity and its dilution with other ingredients), great for keeping spots at bay.

   Note with these acids (in this lotion the PH is at 5.5, which ibarely high enough to do any exfoliation if at all), so what I feel these ingredients mainly do is some very, very gentle pore cleaning and tightening and in the case of the lactic, serving also as a humectant. This will not function like or replace any exfoliating acid toner or other kind of product or physical scrub in your routine that you either use daily and/or nightly or weekly, depending on sensitivity. But good, refreshing ingredients to include in a small quantity here as well to give the more dedicated and/or intense products a mild boost. Unless your skin is ultra-sensitive, I would say (from nonprofessional experience) that it is fine to use this moisturizer in conjunction with at least one other stronger acid-based product. Alternatively, if your skin is usually disagreeable with acids, give this a go if you want to possibly get some of the acids’ benefits with little risk of kickback as it they are low in quantity and well-cushioned in the otherwise soothing and moisturizing, hydrating ingredients to replenish the skin.

   Retinyl Palmitate is also here at the very bottom of the list and would work similarly to these acids but will only provide a microscopic surface level exfoliation i think. Retinyl palmitate really has difficulty in penetrating the skin on most and at such a low level.. it is not to be concerned with at least not for me, and I am generally QUITE sensitive to retinol and retinol-vitamin A derivatives other than rose-based ingredients (don’t ask me why, my skin just lieks roses.

   The only ingredient that does give me concern is the Shea butter. It is very hard to find a moisturizer these days with no shea butter and it is further down the ingredients than most. Four or five as opposed to one or two, and so far no breakouts. Maybe the acids help it not to clog. IDK. Too much shea butter breaks me out. THANKFULLY no coconut derved ingredients for me, which always break me out, usually in no matter what form or quantity. Except Snday riley good genes, which I think the coconut softens the strong lactic. Anyways, moving on.

   Great moisturizer for me day and night. I don’t use SPF I have dry/dehydrated acne prone sensitive skin and this is great for me. I use the fragrance-free version just to be safe, but I imagine I wouldn’t have so much of a problem with the fragranced version performance-wise, I just find it unnecessary and like to wear perfume, so I don’t like scent close to my face for one or that might conflict or compete with whatever perfume or bath and body products I might use day and night.

   This moisturizer broke me out in acne and rashes.

   I am not allergic to anything from The Body Shop, Sephora, or the specialty make-up related items at Shoppers Drug Mart. This moisturizer:

   – created small, even bumps all over my face (increasing each day)
   – created small red patches on my cheeks and nose
   – made my face slightly itchy all day (which is annoying haha)
   – did not sit well under makeup (my foundation slid off by lunchtime and you could see the redness and bumps)
   – broke me out in small acne spots

   I took a chance by not spending the money at Sephora or the Body Shop, and totally was ready for a change, but didn’t have a super good experience. This moisturizer blended well into the skin and felt light at first, but made my face feel oily around lunch time when my matte makeup is normally fine with other moisturizers.

   Save your money or try it out to see if you are not allergic or not picky about your skin! 🙂

   I have just finished my bottle of this moisturizer and won’t be purchasing again.
   Although it was a nice moisturizer, great for under makeup, not too greasy and super light weight, it has concerning ingredients. I looked it up on the cosmetics database and it ranked a 7. A 7!! That’s horrible. Especially because this is sold mostly in all natural stores (such as goodness me) and marketed as a safe and all natural product.
   LIES. Not interested in using something toxic on my face.
   Although it seemed to work great it is actually causing long term damage to the skin.
   Thumbs down to the company that readily markets products that are dangerous to peoples health.

   I’ve been buying this for a while, it is affordable and lightweight. I get the fragrance free version and its really just a great moisturizer. It is great for putting under makeup. It’s not greasy and it’s not ineffective, it’s a perfect balance.

   I am currently on my second bottle. After the first one ran out (which lasted me a year!) I decided to experiment with a different brand (I’m always looking to improve my skin care products, even when they work just fine) … this led to jumping around to three separate holistic skin lotions non of which my skin liked. I have very sensitive and fairly dry skin – and my skin loves this lotion. The consistently is very thin which worried me at first but it must be pretty moisturizing because my skin is not dry at all! It has not caused any weird break-outs, it has no weird fragrance smells, and was only 9.99. One of my favorite perks is that it pairs perfectly with my Bare Essentials make-up!!! When I use this lotion I notice my make-up stays in place longer, applies evenly, doesn’t get oily and smudge around, etc. So yes, I went and bought a second bottle a few days ago. Me and my face couldn’t be happier!

   I have been using both the fragrance free and the lightly scented versions of this moisturizer. While I love both I prefer the fragrance free for the simple reason that I don’t like a fragrance in a facial product. The lightly scented version does run true to form though and is in fact lightly scented and the fragrance is the last ingredient on the list.

   Why I love it:

   – it’s light textured though provides good moisture
   – it wears well under makeup
   – it absorbs well
   – it leaves my skin smooth and even toned
   – a little goes a long way so one package is a good value for how long it will last
   – it’s fairly cheap
   – it contains no silicons or mineral oils

   The slight cons:

   – the fragrance free version is harder to find then the regular version

   I highly recommend!

    I absolutely love this moisturizer. The climate where I live is really dry, especially in the winter, and this does an amazing job of moisturizing. I like to use it not only on my face, neck, and hands, but also on my legs. My legs are quite sensitive, especially right after I shave, and I’ve had the hardest time finding a product that will moisturize without irritating them. I don’t use this moisturizer every time I shave, since that could get a bit pricey, but its nice to know I have something to use on days when my legs are being extra fussy.
    I have noticed a difference between the formula with SPF in it as opposed to the one without. It seemed to me that the one with SPF made my face break out just a bit. I haven’t used that one on my face in awhile, so I’ll try it again and update this post if I find a different result.
    I love finding a natural product that works as well or better than something that has great results, but isn’t so great for your body. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from Earth Science, and this moisturizer is no exception. ^_^
