L’0real have so many different products under the Age Perfect name that it becomes difficult to know if there is already a listing for this or not.
For the record – I am reviewing the Age Perfect Night cream available in a white tub with a gold lid specifically marketed at women in their 50’s and 60’s. If you are looking at the exterior packaging, it will show a graph with 50-60 highlighted to indicate the age group.
It contains soy protein, wild yam extract and something called called Melanin Block (no I’m not sure which ingredient this is). It also contains parabens, mineral oil and a hefty does of fragrance.
Yes, it stinks.
Unfortunately, it also works really well. There’s a part of me that wishes it didn’t, because I don’t want to support a company that tests on animals, but it works so well that I’m going to throw my morals to the wind and purchase this.
This is a thick, off white colored cream that I have been using most nights for about three weeks. It’s thick and quite greasy so a little goes a long way. I use a pea sized amount to cover the backs of my hands and forearms, and another pea sized amount for my neck/chest and face. As long as I don’t use too much it sinks in fairly quickly and doesn’t give me pimples. The first couple of nights I used too much and had to wipe the excess off after half an hour. It really is concentrated.
After using it for three weeks, my skin looks firmer and more even toned, and my neck/chest area doesn’t get anywhere near as red or blotchy. It really does work, and now I’ve run out of the small amount my friend gave me, I’m off to buy a full jar.
Product – 4/5 (1 point off for perfumey fragrance)
Price – 3/5 – it normally costs around $28-30 in Australia but regularly goes on sale for just under $20
Packaging – 1/5 – it’s the standard crappy plastic jar that all L’oreal creams come in.
It works, it’s not too expensive and it’s made by an unscrupulous multi national. Knowing me, I’ll be on the hunt for a product with similar ingredients that comes with fewer nasties and no animal testing, but until I can find that, I will repurchase.
