I have hormonal acne for the most part and I use tanda zap for my hormonal breakouts. Tanda zap isn’t supposed to be used on hormonal acne but it works for me. I breakout around the mouth/cheek (lower half of my face) area usually before and after my period. I get the occasional painful under the skin pimples or cysts. When my acne is inflamed and nothing else works I use the tanda zap. One thing it does for me is calm my inflammation. If I use it on a pimple at night then the area will not be as red/big when I wake up in the morning. It does work! But you have to be consistent with it. You also need to wash your face and do other things to help clear your skin. I wouldn’t 100% rely on the tanda zap to keep you clear, but it is a useful tool to add to your routine when nothing else (topicals, masks, cleansing) is helping.

I have oily acne prone skin, and I seem to be plagued by hormonal acne at the age of 24. I used this the whole 1000 uses (definitely died before I reached 1000) just to pretend I got my money worth – I didn’t. It ranges from it doing nothing to help my spots to actually making a few of them worse. Good luck.

So the Tanda Zap is not a miracle cure for acne, but more so helps prevent a blemish from proceeding into a pustule aka zit.
So my skin history: teens horrible acne that needed Rx retin A and Rx benzoyl peroxide/clindamycin with occasion oral antibiotic before big events (proms, weddings, formal things) Twenty’s I was clear thanks to birth control pills. Now in my thirty’s I’m off the birth control cause I’m working on my family and don’t plan on going back on the pill due to known risk of blood clots if on the pill the older you get. Now I’d say I have mild acne, mostly hormonal (right before my period) So I tend to get 1-2 zits to my cheek or jaw area at the most on a monthly basis.
Current skin regimen include a Kate Somerville Benzoyl Peroxide cream AM daily, and if necessary Mario Badescu drying cream in the AM if there is a blemish, and Peter Thomas Roth hydrating glycolic gel at night with the occasional Mario Badescu drying lotion on the blemish. This works pretty well for me.
So I waited until I had the Tanda zap for 6 month to write this review. I find with the Tanda Zap if used at the first few hours I feel my zit coming, it prevents the pustule from ever forming. Therefore I have not extracted “aka picked” at a zit the last few months. IT will flatten a raise blemish and even a cyst within 24 hours. The fact I don’t pick at the blemish is great. I’m every fair and have hyperpigmentation after a pustule, regarding if it has been extracted by myself or the esthetecian. That hyperpigmentation last several months.
This will not work on blackheads. It will not be useful if you have large area of blemishes as the treatment would take forever to complete.
I use Tanda after I was with my Philosophy Purity and tone with rosewater. Then I apply to the blemish 3- 4 times (instructions as 2-3) then follow with the rest of my skin care products. Each treatment is 2 minutes long, so that 6-8 minutes per blemish.
It is battery operated, so be prepared to purchases batteries or do rechargeable batteries. This device will only allow for 1000 treatments, so after 1000 it’s useless and need to get a new Tanda Zap. I think when this one dies I’ll get the rechargeable one in order not to have to deal with batteries.
So I do recommend this item only if you have the occasional blemish.

I do go to the dermatologist every so often, and obviously they do have a blue light treatment there. I have been told by friends that it can be a hit or miss. Instead of going that route, I tried this product first. I can say I used it religiously for about 2 weeks at about 4-6 minutes per area, everyday. I thought it was working at first, but sadly it doesn’t work well. If you get a zit, it seems to exacerbate it by bringing up all of the toxins/bacteria to the top of the skin and turning it into a bigger issue. Definitely didn’t speed up the duration of a zit. No help with blackheads/pores either. I have found great results with Aczone/Tactuo and Paula’s Choice 1% retinol. Having a balance of these along with good antioxidant moisturizers is important.

I picked this up at Wal-Mart when browsing the skin care aisle looking for a treatment gel to treat some spot cystic type pimples that recently developed. I think I paid around $35 and thought it would be worth that and more if it truly worked.
I got home, read the directions and performed a treatment on each of the various affected areas, most of which were concentrated around my chin and one straggler next to my nose. I did this twice the first day and by the next morning, the smaller pimples were gone and the larger cysts were almost totally reduced in size. I performed 2 more treatments that day and by the next morning the remaining pimples were drying up and easily covered with concealer. What a relief to be rid of the throbbing hormonal cysts that I sometimes get on my chin and jaw. Now I know to start treating them immediately when I feel them developing under the skin.
What I like most about this device is that it is non-drying to the surrounding skin and only dries out the pimple itself. Supposedly the light penetrates the skin to kill the bacteria feeding off the oil/dirt. So far I am pleased with my purchase and appreciate the small size that makes it easy to carry discreetly for numerous daily treatments.

This thing was so annoying, I’m returning mine to Amazon.
It helps shorten maybe the smallest of pimples, I’m talking a tiny fleck of a whitehead but anything that’s red it just made worse! I even tried it on an oncoming cyst I felt coming, thinking I could zap it away before it fully formed and BAD IDEA! It made the thing twice as big as my normal cysts and 10x as painful. Oh mannn, never again. I should of never tried it on those but I read some peoples reviews on amazon where they said it helped their cysts so wtf!?

Im torn.
I think it helps, but is no miracle worker.
It doesnt get rid of every blemish, but more than not it heals the belmish or reduces its size
By using it, I also think it helps me from picking or popping the blemish
I got mine from amazon for around $32..so for the price I def think it is worth a try.

I purchased this after a nasty breakout. I did my research first and found mixed reviews. I was skeptical, but desperate, so I got it anyway. After many uses on different types of breakouts, I’ve found that it works pretty well for me on the red, no-head (papules?) type of suckers. Luckily, I don’t get those too often. But, now I have a Tanda waiting to calm them down. It does take several zaps throughout the day to shrink them down, but I’ve yet to have the batteries die on me. And I’ve used this thing 25+ times. I don’t think the heat and vibration really do anything to help, personally.
Bottom line, it’s no overnight miracle tool, but it’s been helpful and I would purchase one again.

I have hormonal acne, oily skin, hyperpigmentation, pitted scarring. I purchased the zap, the little device is only meant for 1000 uses, after that you recycle it, it’s not rechargeable, I find it a waste to have to buy a whole new device. When I first got it, I used it morning and night for at least 2 weeks, it took a while to treat bc the surface area only covered a small portion of my skin and I had a lot of little acne bumps, this device states it not meant for hormonal acne but I still wanted to try it. I have to say it was about 75% effective, the acne Definately didn’t disappear overnight, it took about a few days to go away but then a new crop would come up, so in other words the zap treats existing acne but didn’t really prevent new ones from forming. I also found that if I had deep red acne, it would bring the acne to a head faster and thus cutting down the time that it would normally take to heal, I was hoping it would just simmer down in size instead of coming to a head. If you have the zap instead of the full size and you dont have just the one pimple, be prepared to spend time holding the device to your skin, or just buy the full size so that it covers a greater surface area. I also find it useful when after popping a pimple that I would use the zap to close the open skin and kill leftover bacteria. It helps to bring it to heal a little faster.

I don’t have really bad acne or anything but I do get pimples and so I’m always looking for new ways to get rid of them. I got this straight from Tanda’s website but I know you can get it in stores now too. I haven’t used it a ton because like I said I’m not always getting lots of pimples but when I have used it it helped my pimples go away within a couple of days. It’s easy to use and I’ve let my friends borrow it and they like it too.
