Just a little disclaimer- I’ve loved this device since the day I got it. It works better than a clarisonic, it’s cheaper, and the brushes are antimicrobial. Something I dislike about this product, and more recently, the company that makes it, is that you can no longer buy replacement brushes for the Classic Soniclear. The latter is the one pictured above, in the makeupalley photo. That is the one I ordered in December 2014. It came with a two-year warranty, and it still works perfectly. . .the device, that is. The brush I’m used to using is the same color as my soniclear. I just ordered a replacement brush head in the plum color, and when I received it, it didn’t work. Oh, it snapped into the device like the old ones did. However, it didn’t vibrate or cleanse like it used to. I thought it was odd, since the device alone seems to be working exactly as its supposed to. I contacted Michael Todd via their website, asking if it was some manufacturing problem with the brush. I received a response a few days later. It seems that they changed the design of the brush heads in the past year or so. They still feature the exact same soft, antimicrobial bristles, but apparently they changed the size and structure of the plastic part. I knew it must have something to do with the fact that they recently released a new range of soniclears in different sizes. (This includes their petite, petite deluxe, soniclear and soniclear elite.) Needless to say, I’m pretty frustrated right now. I want to use my device, but I can’t. Michael Todd turned out a great product that’s lasted me more than two years, but they no longer sell a brush head that works with it. Perhaps they didn’t think the classic soniclear model would last anyone more than two years? That would explain the two year warranty. Had I ordered another brush head just a month sooner, I would have caught the mistake and been offered a free upgrade. At least, that was what was implied in my email response. I’m waiting on another response from one of the company’s reps, so I’ll edit this review and post what she says. I find it really dishonest of them not to post on their site that their brush heads are no longer compatible with their model from ONLY two years ago. How easy would it be to post that on the site? Instead, it says that the brush heads work with every soniclear model they have. How many people are ordering brush heads for their classic models, only to be disappointed with it’s performance? Although clarisonic is an inferior product, the basic design of the brush heads has remained the same. Even with the release of the aria, clarisonic plus, mia fit, etc., you can still buy the exact same product and get the same results, regardless of when you bought your first device. My advice is that you contact Michael Todd and ask them if your device is compatible with their newer brushes before you order them. As for Michael Todd-please change my mind about your brand. Make me an offer I can’t refuse.
*Update: Michael Todd wrote me back after several inquiries. Here’s what they said!
“Thank you for contacting Michael Todd Beauty. We received your comment via Facebook and see that you recently purchased a replacement face brush head for your Soniclear Classic device which was purchased in 2014. The Classic was discontinued in mid-2016 as it was not as an effective unit as our NEWEST model the Soniclear Elite. The Classics had a high rate of defect.”
Well, that explains it. They offered me an upgrade to the soniclear elite for just $20(including shipping)which was really nice of them. (Considering the fact that I had a discontinued product that fell out of warranty.)
I’ll update on how I like the new product.
**I followed the checkout link, and it was even cheaper- $17.20 for the whole, elite unit! 🙂
The only thing I’m a little weird-ed out by is that they took my post off of facebook. Why? It would have informed a lot of other people.
**Second update: Overall, I’m not too thrilled with this new device. I was told by the company that this new model was created due to the number of defects in the old model. That may be, but I really prefer the performance of the discontinued one. This one doesn’t feel as gentle or as deep-cleansing. The C-Boost option sounds intriguing, but I don’t think I’ll be able to get any use out of that setting; it just feels too rough on my skin. Before I tried this model, I was comparing the classic soniclear to the standard clarisonic. Within that comparison, I prefer the classic soniclear. However, due to the changes made, I now prefer the clarisonic over the new and “improved” soniclear. It’s a shame, as I love the concept of the antimicrobial brush heads. However, it should be said that my experience with cleansing devices in general has been somewhat lackluster altogether. I recommend just using a clean washcloth, your hands, or a chemical/standard physical exfoliant to buff away dead skin cells. After these two run out of warranty/die on me, I won’t be using products like this anymore. I’ve had to knock the overall rating down to two stars, due to overall performance.

I decide to buy this awesome gadget for myself as a birthday present. I got mine cheaper when I was watching for Ulta sales + birthday coupon. I first came to know about it through Ulta which features the brand. I had a Clarisonic Mia 1 $99, but wanted to upgrade but didn’t want to spend $200 for the next model up. When I saw this I felt it had more to offer and was slighty cheaper then what next Clarisonic had to offer. It’s made very sturdy. Plus you get extra’s product + brush heads with some of the kits. I have the Soniclear Elite in the Purple Floral and it has the 3 speeds + C-Boost feature, which I rarely use, but if you like the extra facial massage it’s nice. And it beeps to let you know to move on to another area. Plus even thought the brush heads are about the same price as Clarisonic they have a anti-microbal feature were they last 6 months instead replacing Clarisonic brush heads at 3 months. Just to note you can not interchange the brushes between Soniclear Elite & Clarisonic because they won’t fit. Also there is not yet a generic cheaper versions for the Soniclear brush head. The Michael Todd website has more brushes/attachments if your interested in more. If you watch for sales you can find them on Hautelook.com, which is were I’m awaiting another since my daughter, whom I gave her my Mia 1, keeps sneeking off with the Soniclear elite.

I ended up holding off till the elite version came out which thank god I did this machine has done wonders!
The new system has a new function called c-boost which feels like a micro massager on your face. It also has all the other functions separate speeds for your face brush from those with sensitive skin for those with more rough skin. As well as separate speeds for the body brush to help exfoliate all the skin on your body.

I absolutely love my Soniclear, I got the Leopard Luxe and it’s so pretty! I keep it in the shower and only have to charge it every other week over night. I use it day and night to help wash my face and exfoliate my skin.

This product made me notice how many blackheads I had! It got rid of them as well! I also notice that I break out much less than before. I use this once a day as twice might be too much on my skin but it is still effective. This is a must have for anyone looking to advance their skincare routine.

First of all, I have this thing about what touches my face. I love makeup and have no qualms applying any type, but when it comes to skincare I’m just weird about it.10 years ago, when I was 25, I could do that, but now that I’m 35 it’s really important to take a proactive approach with skincare.
So, I let my 15-year old son suffering from acne try it first. After reading about the Soniclear online, what really sold me was the fact that it uses antimicrobial technology, which basically prevents and protects from regeneration of bacteria, I knew I had to try it, but again I was hesitant, even though I can use it with only water if I wanted to.
It is not recommended that you share your brushes. Additional brush heads are available if you have multiple users in your house. This is a must for me since my boyfriend wants to use the body brush on his feet. I won’t be sharing that, sorry!
So, my son tried it for 3 minutes. It would beep periodically to let him know how far through the 3 minute cycle we were. The manual states it’s every 60 seconds, but it seemed like 30. Of course, you can’t get much feedback from a teenager, so after he used it, I cleaned it thoroughly with hot water, after all it is waterproof and can be used in the bathtub or shower.
When I tried it I used the low setting, 1 of 6 settings between the two brushes. I found that it was easy to deal with even though I was a little scared about how it would feel at first (no tickling and the brush was VERY soft), so I bumped up the speed to the next and then the highest setting for the face brush.
Using water only, I really felt like my face was super clean after use. Not to mention, it did not dry my skin out. I’ll definitely continue using it (after about 1 month) and would repurchase it if the main unit ever died.
I plan on getting more brushes so the whole family can use it. I think it’s a great product for those suffering from acne, because after all, acne can cause bacteria and an antimicrobial system, when used regularly can aide in reducing the effects of acne by not implanting the same germs found on the facial cloth used that is likely not laundered / sanitized after each use.
As far as the price goes, I think it’s very reasonable considering it’s got a 2-year warranty and replaceable brushes. I would definitely consider using some of the Michael Todd skincare products to go with it now that I’ve gotten over the hesitation of using the Soniclear system.

I am in love with this product. I have acne prone, oily skin. This face cleaner has worked wonders. It is rechargeable. You put it on the base and when all of the lights are red it is all charged up. It just sits in the base and charges. There are no charging tabs or ports to get bend and broken. When you first receive it make sure you charge it fully before use. Put your Soniclear on your charger like I have pictured above. When all three of the red charge indicator lights are lit up you are all charged. The Soniclear is waterproof, so you can use it while in the shower or tub. Your Soniclear will come with two different brush heads, one for your face and one for your body. There is a timer on the brush. When it beeps it is time to move to another portion of your face/body. There are three speeds for each brush (face/body) The brushes are treated in the factory to keep them from growing bacteria. So when you use it you are not pushing bacteria back into your pores. I LOVE it!!
