I am having a serious problem with tiny black pieces of sponge sticking to my face when I use this. I use beauty blender soap to clean it and have not had this issue with their other sponges or other brands. I am also noticing my under eye concealer is patchy. I won’t be repurchasing this.

maybe because of my personal preference
i always reach back for the black one (i don’t know what the difference tbh)
probably because of i won’t see any stain on black sponge (any stain on my tools just irks me out)
with this sponge, i guarantee your blend game gonna be great
HOWEVER
i still don’t understand why the f beautyblender is sooooooooo expensive
i think you will not disappoint with this product
buy this if you willing to pay extra money
but if you want to an alternative, the most similar (but bb is still better) is the orange sponge from real technique.

Just a personal opinion. I just don’t get these ‘sponges’. YouTube really put this item on a golden pedestal. I’ve tried the pink, black, the minis and I just didn’t find them effective/efficient for applying make up. Firstly they suck up product, the finish is ok but I prefer a brush ( that’s just my experience), sometimes I notice it erases/thins out the product more than it applies prob cuz it just soaks it up. In the end I end up using more product than I need to?… Then there’s the controversial sponge vs hygienic issue – it’s strange how ppl don’t mention this in these coloured egg-like sponge reviews? Butttt…. I’ll read product reviews on MUA, how reviewers dislike sponge tip applicators, for being ”unhygienic” or “gross”??? I wonder if reviewers would say the same if cosmetic companies changed the sponge tip applicators to black or pink? For the record, I’ll be the first to say I really like sponge tip applicators esp for spot on application and the feel of it! Hmmm… what if the Beauty Blender was in white or flesh tone? Imagine what it would look like after x1 use??? Wonder what the sales would be on this compared to the pink or black sponges. Imagine the neg reviews on that!…. I’m not knocking this product itself but it’s more abt the hype on this product! Kudos to ‘Beauty Blender’ and the multitude of copy cat egg sponges for choosing coloured sponges as a brand- just know u didn’t fool me! ‘ick!’… just remember that PROFESSIONAL makeup artist don’t use BB on clients but rather use triangular sponges cuz they are disposable, inexpensive and much more ‘hygienic’.
Ps… there is no way a sponge is thoroughly cleaned, the deep centre of the sponge is always damp (bacteria like that environment)- don’t kid ur self w/ special Beauty Blender ‘cleansers’ and thorough rinsing… even kitchen sponges are filled w/ microbes, and its being constantly soaked in dish soap which contains bleach, bacteria is still breeding. One could almost have a microbial-free sponge if put in the dishwasher- extreme heat kills but even that’s not a guarantee for those pesky buggers 😉 #dontbeasheep

Comparing this to the original (pink) beautyblender, I find it quite different. It has more texture and is more porous, but most noticeable is how it’s much softer than the original. It has a lot more give, which some might like, but to me it means it doesn’t blend the foundation as effectively. It spreads it, sure, but I don’t feel like I can press it into the skin the same way that I can with the original. Therefore it’s hard to achieve the really airbrushed look that I so love the beautyblender for. Don’t get me wrong – it is good, still so much better than all the generic/less expensive beauty sponges that I’ve tried (including the RT miracle sponge). Paradoxically, I feel like it sheers out the application slightly, while also absorbing less product? Not sure how both things can be true. Maybe it’s because it’s black and it won’t stain like the pink one, but I feel like less product comes out when I rinse it, and with less effort. Huge plus that it doesn’t bleed dye for freaking ever, like the pink one does. Probably better for the skin with less dye, not to mention it’s convenient.
I’m not opposed to repurchasing it, but I probably wouldn’t if the pink one is available for the same price. That one is simply unbeatable.

I love my beauty blender, i used my 3th or 4th beauty blender now in the last 1,5 year.
I love using it with my cream products and powders to kind of decrease the hardness or coverage.
But the price keeps bugging me, it’s expensive and has to be replaced to many times for the price.
I tried cheaper options but they don’t do it for me.

I got this in the set as well. It’s good but I prefer the original beauty blender. The original pink version feels softer and bouncier. This has a different texture. (which I think it’s supposed to??) I feel like it’s better for powders and what not, which I don’t really use much as I have dry skin. It’s a good enough product. I just will opt for the Pink one when I need to repurchase.

Overall this product is awesome for blending, as the name implies but i did not like it for foundation application. i had a bunch of birch box points saved up & decided to get this just to see if it lived up to the hype. I decided on the black one because i felt like it would be the one that was easiest to clean. Every time i use this for applying my foundation i feel like it really sucks all of the makeup up/ makes the foundation sheer out. I have normal-dry fair skin & recently started using too faced “born this way” foundation(im shade porcelain), its supposed to be medium to full coverage foundation but whenever i use my bb to apply it, it ends up becoming sheer & just looks like im wearing a tinted moisturizer. At first i thought it was the foundation but one day I didnt feel like going through the hassle of wetting the bb & cleaning it so i just used my fingers to apply foundation. All of the sudden i had a nice full coverage foundation when before with the bb it was totally sheer. Ive tried squeezing out the water of the bb, drying it on a paper towel, & trying it where its a little more wet & i get the same application every time. I dont even use it to apply my foundation anymore because i feel like it soaks up too much of the product. With that being said though the pointed side is great for concealer & blends out thicker formulas perfectly(i use tarte shapetape) & doesnt suck it up. It also blends out my contour good & i loved how it made my blush look(i use the nars multiple in orgasm.), so i usually just use it towards the end of my makeup to blend everything together. To be honest ive used makeup sponges from cvs that do the same thing as the bb & blend just as well, i wouldnt buy this again because it just seems like every other sponge pretty much. As a side note if you want your bb to not get dirty i suggest washing it RIGHT AFTER you do your makeup so it doesnt stain. Also make sure you wash it every time after use so bacteria doesnt grow, remember it is a sponge. Also never use anything but PAPER towels or a tshirt to dry/take out excess water from your bb, if you use a regular towel it will rip. I just use nuetrogina 2 in 1 makeup removing facewash to wash my bb, it takes all the makeup & is very gentle. Ive used my bb dozens of times now & it still looks brand spankin new.

God sent, I cannot imagine going back to using my fingers or brushes to apply my foundation.

I can’t believe I gave into the hype of this sponge not once but twice. And it’s totally worth it.
I scoffed at the price. $20 for a sponge? No, I won’t pay that, I told myself. But paid that I did just to see what the hype was about and I fell in love with it.
Unfortunately my cat also fell in love with it too and mauled my first one before I even got to use it, but I used it anyways with chunks of sponge missing and didn’t see the hype so eventually it went in the bin.
I can’t explain how mad I was at my cat! lol. $20 down the drain before I even got to use it. Word of the wise: Keep these sponges out of reach of your cats.
Then, I bought it again earlier this week, being more cautious after its first washing to put it where my cat couldn’t get to it and I used it the next morning. It was life changing!
This stuff applies my foundation and concealer effortlessly and blending my foundation in takes very little effort versus the RT sponge.
I can squeeze it so easily to get into the areas I need to conceal, like my inner eye area without any issues, which I found kind of difficult to do with my RT sponge since it so much more dense and not as airy and fluffy as the BB. Also, when I wet it the water comes out so much more easily than it does with the RT sponge cause the RT one holds onto a lot more water than the BB does which means I always dug my nails into the RT sponge trying to get all the water out and also had to use a washrag to get the water out also, what a pain.
I bought the black one because I didn’t want to see any stains on my sponge as I would versus the other colours of the BB. This sponge doesn’t clean as easily as my RT one does, I can still see foundation on it as I wash it so I do have to be more thorough when washing the BB versus the RT sponge.
I thought I liked the flat side of the RT sponge better versus the round side of the BB sponge but I was so wrong, I actually prefer the rounded side better versus the flat side of the RT sponge.
The best thing I’ve found to clean all of my makeup sponges and makeup brushes is Cetaphil antibacterial bar soap, I’ve tried Dawn dish soap like people have mentioned on the MUB, but Dawn leaves a nasty residue on all my sponges and brushes.
Of all the things I’ve tried this year in the beauty aspect, it’s been this. I just can’t believe how good my foundation looks and how little effort and time I spend on applying it now.
Do you need this? No, but I recommend to at least try it once, splurge on it for yourself, you may be quite surprised at how much you love this. I will be going back for a backup of this, I must not be without it in my beauty arsenal.
I will no longer scoff at the price tag of this, it is so worth it. Can’t believe I bought into the hype of this but I’m glad I did! I also can’t believe it took me so long to buy it.
TL; DR.

i bought this bec Sephora give discount 15 percent . i wet it , the next day when it is dry , i notice black stuff in the container around . not many but bec it’s black , I notice it.
before this , i have 2 dupes and none come close to how soft this beauty blender (really couldn’t understand people said RT is dupe),
when i wet it , if I’m not be careful , my nails will ruin this expensive sponge . I’m not a very2 delicate person in terms of brushes or sponges , so now a bit wary I will damage my bb faster than other people.
texture = the most softest sponge I’ve come accross. it’s sturdy but very2 fragile towards nails (carefull with this).
I don’t have so many2 problems with my skin , so either a brush or this bb is practically the same.
but nonetheless I will buy it if it is on sale again.
