Looks pretty and has convenient lids for storing the pencil shavings. However, I don’t like it. The blade isn’t sharp enough, so the pencil makes small jumps when I’m turning it, resulting in jagged edges and small splinters and chips. Those things is something no one wants a pencil for sensitive areas like eyes and lips to have. Also, the way it sharpens the pencil is: instead of creating a sharper tip that tapers off, it barely does anything to the tip shape – it just shaves off the pencil-part (see the pictures I’ve taken of some of my pencils). The shavings are also pretty thick, so the pencils get quite an apparent edge where I stop sharpening.
My Ulta pencil sharpener (which is ugly, but that’s beside the point), which I got for free sharpens pencils way better than this Colourpop pencil sharpener. It might very well be that mine is a dud, but based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this sharpener. It works in the sense that it hasn’t fallen apart, but at the same time: it doesn’t actually work – my pencils don’t get sharper

I bought this the other day at Ulta when I exchanged a few items. I have to say I really love the sharpener .It is almost $5.00 but I think it is worth it . A sales person helped me find it at Ulta and I used it the next day to sharpen my NYX jumbo lip pencil. I love it the jumbo lip pencil got sharpened perfectly. I comes with two holes one to sharpen a thin eyeliner or lip pencil and a larger hole to sharpen jumbo eye pencils or jumbo lip liners . I used a less expensive cheaper one before this to sharpen my NYC and lost some product because the sharpener kept breaking my eyeliner . The NYX sharpener also come with a cap to capture all of the shavings which I love as well. So far the NYX sharpener is the best sharpener I have ever tried of course it would be nice if it was less expensive but I love it so much I am willing to pay for quality.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
I, too, received the 2015 Sephora birthday gift of 2 Nars lipstick pencils. I really like them. I want to use them. SO SUE ME. Anyway, the problem was that the 3 sharpeners I owned did not sharpen them. All 3 were dual sharpeners for both small and big pencils. (L’oreal, Prestige, Wet n Wild.) The Nars pencils were a little too large and I kind of thought I was crazy for not being able to sharpen them?
Anyhow, this cheap NYX sharpener works amazingly. It was less than $5. I also hear that UD Grindhouse (seriously best product name ever) also works well, but I lost mine a while ago (I still rue the day) and this is five bucks less, so. Hope this helps someone because it took me from last August til this March to figure this out, lol.
I have a new problem now. This problem is the ability (not to be confused with the means) to buy more of those stupidly awesome and stupidly expensive Nars pencils.

Good quality! Bought this with the intent of using it for my NYX jumbo eye pencils, and it does the job. If you’re looking for an affordable, decent sharpener, I suggest this.

Awesome!! Good quality solid sharpener which i had bought it to sharpen pencils like NYX Milk. I’ve never had much reason to complain except except in general sharpeners are easily lost & a pain to replace good ones (usually sold out or it’s a pain to pay shipping like at Ulta when u only got that one item to buy online; I suggest buying at least 2 maybe 3 at a time to keep them around. Keep them in safe places so u always know where at least 1 is. The best ones are MAC, Sephora, & NYX (in no particular order), but if u have a plastic pencil (not automatic) skip NYX & use MAC sharpener (MAC Pro LongWear or MUFE Aqua type pencils). NYX will fit ur needs for almost anything except except giant pencils which irdk how u sharpen bigger than Milk. But NYX is the best for about 98% of ur pencil sharpening needs! The ones that aren’t wooden are black most of the time (a good indicator). NYX has sharp blades, but I never advance more lead than abso necessary coz it wastes product. Therefore I am used to using pencils that aren’t as sharp as the day I got them but u will get used to it & if u melt pencils w a BIC then u don’t even notice. Ijs. Makeup is expensive & is come by dearly for me, so it’s a good way to avoid wasting unnecessary excess. Ur pencils will last a lot longer!

This sharpener works on jumbo eye shadow pencils. I had an older Estee Lauder sharpener in my makeup kit and assumed it would work on the jumbo pencils from Make Up Forever and NYX Cosmetics. I was so wrong. I was using a straight blade and was killing my poor jumbo eye shadow sticks. I saw this sharpener at Target for $5 and bought it right away. That is quarter of the price of my Estee Lauder sharpener. Plus it comes with a plastic cover! Okay so the cover design is not the best and sometimes flies off, but it still has one. The quality is very good for the price and I was able to sharpen my jumbo eye shadow brushes BUY THIS PRODUCT! I was able to fix my expensive Make Up Forever eyeshadow. If you want a super pointy tip, you will end up wasting a lot of product when sharpening. Just gently sharpen the product so that you can maximize the amount of product.

This is the BEST pencil sharpener ever.
It fits every single pencil I own and they are all different sizes.
I have had this sharpener for over a year or so now and I will never buy another sharpener again. It stays super sharp and does what it needs to do- no hassle involved. I dont need to sharpen my pencils to death with this sharpener and I really like that because it saves me money by not cutting off so much product! I would literally pay $30 for this sharpener, thats how much I love it and that says a lot…

To be fair, I’ve never tried to sharpen my pencils to a true point; I just try to get them sharp enough that I can access the product again. Every time I need to do this, however, I always reach for the NYX over the M•A•C sharpener in my kit. This sharpens smoothly and I love the top for catching flakes.
Pros:
* lid!
* great price
* fits all sizes of pencils, small to large
Cons:
* difficult to clean out
boastfulMandrill5
I like this sharpener a lot! I recently found out there’s a pick that is attached to it so you can remove any unwanted stuff stuck in the sharpener. It also really works to sharpen your eye/lip pencils.

i love this sharpener! it keeps my eyeliners nice and sharp. plus, it doesn’t sharpen it in a weird way like other ones would. i also like how it comes with some stick thing at the bottom to dig out the eyeliner that’s stuck on the sides. =) very creative, i will purchase this again if something were to happen.

I use Mac waterproof eyeliners which are hard to sharpen to a fine point. I’ve been through 2 Mac sharpeners and 1 Quo sharpener (Shopper’s Drug Mart brand in Canada), and was not particularly impressed with either. The Quo sharpener lost its sharpness fairly quickly. Both Mac sharpeners end up breaking on me (literally broke in half). Today, I bought a Lancome sharpener … wow … my Mac eyeliner is finally pointy again! My old sharpeners would over-sharpen the sides but never the tip. LOTS of wastage!

Nice sharpener with two sizes for sharpening. Always sharp, gives perfect points, and never splits wooden pencils. Unfortunately, I have to subtract 1 lippie for the price.

This worked decent for a while- I think I’ve had it less than a year and I’m really lazy about sharpening my pencils so it was not in use often. It just ruined 3 high quality brand new pencils in a row and I realized that it’s not working anymore. The price is reflective of the quality, keep in mind that it probably wont stay sharp for very long. Now that I think about it, it always took off more of the pencil than I would like. I will probably not repurchase.

Good. Cheap. It works well and barely costs anything. 5/5

HG sharpener. I actually just bought this a second time. My sister came home for X-mas and “borrowed” mine. Well she never gave it back before going back to college 🙁
This sharpener is the only one that sharpens my NYX jumbo pencils. The others won’t sharpen them (Studio tools & some other cheap one). I don’t know why it’s such a problem but this sharpener just does it smoothly. They revamped it since I last bought it though (it only had the clear plastic on the top; if that doesn’t tell you how long long ago I bought this originally!). It now comes with clear plastic on both sides and a small pick that slides out for cleaning. It also has a size adapter for the larger side for a medium size pencil. It’s nice but I just need the small and large.
12/28/14 update: I still own this. It works just as good as day one. Not sad about re-buying what-so-ever.

So ever since I bought my first kohl liner, I’ve been looking high and low for a sharpener that can handle sharpening such a soft pencil. The 99 cent one I bought by NYC was garbage. This one I bought because I was waiting on the pharmacy at my grocery store to fill a prescription and boy am I glad I picked it up. I’ve never had a sharpener that worked this well. It sharpened my Feline kohl pencil with ease and gave me the point I’ve been looking for since I first bought it. Handled my Cherry lip pencil beautifully. The real test was whether or not it would be able to fit my NYX jumbo pencil. Just take out the little ring and it sharpened it to a point. Just think, sharpening a cream pencil to a point! Those little odd-shaped bars next to the blade really are the key to the point, because it refines the ends of the pencil to a nice tip. Can’t say enough about this, and at $3, I’m sold. Never buying another sharpener again.

I have a couple of these. One Milani brand and one Maybelline. When I compared the two, I found they were exactly the same, lol. Down to the shape and the country they were made in, lol. So I figured they were all the same. Mine came with the size adapter that would be handy, if I needed it. What I especially like is the little cleaning stick it comes with. So your not trying to poke down in there to clean off the razor. I love that fact that it holds the shavings until you can dispose of them and overall am very satisfied with it. It was cheap and you can find them anywhere from .99 stores to the corner rite-aid.

This sharpener can handle three different sized pencils. There are two holes, one for regular sized pencils and another for larger multipurpose pencils. Included with the sharpener is a removable ring that fits over the large hole to accommodate medium sized pencils. Cover Girl should have provided a warning that this should not be used on pencils with a plastic coating such as MUFE Aqua Eyes and MAC Powerpoint liners. I watched in horror as it nearly destroyed my beloved MUFE Aqua Eyes liner, I was trying to sharpen the tip a bit and the blade grabbed onto the pencil shavings and would not let go. If you’re not sure if your lip or eyeliner is coated in plastic, look at the tip. If it’s wooden and looks like writing pencils, it’s probably fine. If it’s smooth and hard then it’s most likely coated. The sharpener gets a 5 for versatility when it comes to working with different sized pencils but a 0 for practicality. What good is it if it doesn’t work with all types of pencils?

I am surprised this gets good ratings! This is a pencil muncher and never delivers a sharp point. In fact it can’t because of the bar inside the sharpener which stops the pencils from moving forward after a certain point.
Don’t try and force this to sharpen to a decent point–you will loose your tip. Also, it splinters the cheap wood pencils badly.
Still hunting for a decent sharpener….

I wanted to write a review on this to warn everyone to STAY AWAY from this pencil sharpener!!!! If I could have given it zero lippies I would. It eats your pencils up, gives you this crazy super sharp point and the wood around the base of the product is all cracked and nicked (if that makes sense). Spend a couple bucks more and go with the Maybelline or Revlon pencil sharpeners, they’re much, MUCH better than this piece of *bleep*
cruelCow2
This is an excellent sharpener. I’m so glad I looked up reviews. I got it especially for the L’oreal Silkissime eyeliner, which I love but is a beast to sharpen (which I was aware of before purchasing, from many reviews). I tried several different sharpeners and they all either chewed it up or did nothing. This is the only one that has worked. The pencil’s point still isn’t perfect, but I’m really impressed by the NYX’s ability to at least make it useable.

I love this! I use it for my brow pencils, lip pencils, and jumbo pencils. It’s a must-have in my makeup collection. I haven’t tried that many other sharpeners, but I’m completely satisfied with this one so I’m sticking with it.

After reading the reviews of 6 perfect feedbacks, sorry to say, I don’t agree. I can not get a sharp point on any of my eye pencils because of the bar inside that prevents this, If I continued to try, it would break off the tip.
