I found this product flimsy and it did absolutely nothing for my lashes, very frustrating.

This is a travel-size versión of a heated curler (I don’t have the regular one, so I won’t compare them). Being a travel-size makes it very easy to transport, and it has a cap to cover the heated part.
How it works: You have to switch it on and let it heat for about 15 or 20 seconds (I wait more to make sure it’s really heated). You apply your mascara and then use this. You have to put it close to the base of your lashes and comb them in a lifting motion. There is a small piece in the back of the curler that tells you when the curler is heated. It’s green when the curler is cool, and yellow when it’s heated.
What I love about this curler is that I don’t have problems pinching the skin of my eyelid and for the first time, it’s easy to get to the corner lashes.
What I don’t like is that my lashes don’t hold the curl, just like happends in my hair with curling irons… I guess I have to find a good mascara that helps this curler hold ghe curl, just like I do with my hair trying different styling products.
What I do is first, apply my mascara, and then, hold the curler for about 3 seconds at the base of my (very straight) lashes so that the curl starts right there, and then, lift it up, and wait in the middle of the lashes, and do it again at the tips, just like you would do with a regular lash curler. After that, I can really see a change in my eyes. I use this and my waterproof mascara to hold the curl longer.

This is the second heated curler I have purchased (the first being a Japonesque), and I must say I like this one much more. Since I am half asian I have longer lashes but I do have the issue of them being very straight and not holding curl very well. I will not be going back to a regular curler because of how effective heated curlers are for long lasting curl. Its the same principle as curling your hair, you get much more definitive curls from using a heated tool than from using pins/rollers, assuming you start with straight hair.

Things to note:
The directions say to use AFTER applying mascara. I use it on my bare lashes BEFORE applying mascara because (a) I don’t want the heat to melt off/remove any of the mascara I apply and (b) I don’t want any of my mascara clumping up or clogging the curler.
As an experiment I did try on one eye curling first and then applying mascara and on the other eye mascara first and then curling. The results were almost the same (there was a bit more curl when I applied mascara first but I noticed the lashes that were curled first had a more natural sweep and shape).
Also there is a small indicator on the back of the curler to indicate that it is hot and ready to use. If you look on the back of where the heating element is there is a little oval that is green when the curler is cool and yellow when it is hot. Make sure it is yellow (about 60 sec) before using. I usually turn it on as I’m finishing up my eyeshadow and its ready when I need it. I promise it is worth waiting a few more seconds for this to get to max temp.
Replace battery every 3 weeks or so (depending on the quality of your battery) if you use it regularly. You can tell that it needs to be changed if its taking longer to heat and if its not curling like it did when you got it.
Bottom line: This is better than the manual hand crimp curler, and I would buy it again. Best on the market? Probably not, but you could be paying $30-$50 for something that gives comparable curl.

I went into Sephora to buy the Shu Uemura curler but they were sold out, and I came across this instead, which was compact and less expensive. I paid $16 CAD for this. I figured I’d give this a try and return it if I didn’t like it.
As soon as I got out of the store, I tried this on my lashes which already had mascara on them. You have to let it heat up for 60 seconds before it gets hot enough. I press this against the base of my lashes for 5 seconds, and press again on the tips of my lashes, and finally use the heated curler to curl the tips. I was initially scared that I would burn myself because I could feel the heat on my eyelids, but this is safe to use.
The result I got was perfectly curled lashes. It is already midday and my lashes are still perfectly curled. I am amazed because my friend got lash perming done at a salon, and this delivers almost the same effect (although it is not permanent).
I have sparse asian lashes and prior to this I was using the Shiseido curler, which I love because it is perfect for almond-shaped eyes. However, I find that the curl does not stay all day with a traditional curler. I have also tried the Japonesque heated curler which looks identical to the Sephora Professional curler (the one that looks like a black pen) but that was not hot enough and took some work to curl my lashes.
What I like about this is that it is small so I can get to the tiny hairs on the inner and outer corners of my eye that a traditional curler cannot reach. I can shape each section according to my liking. You can’t get this versatility out of the traditional curler. Also, I absolutely love this packaging. It is pink and black, and very lightweight, and easy to put in my purse. It takes up much less room than a traditional curler. The only con is that it takes longer and more work with a heated curler because you have to wait for it to heat up, and you have to curl section by section (ie. middle, inner and outer corners). The extra time is worth it to me because in the end, I am much more satisfied with the results than a trad. curler. I’m very glad I purchased this.
Overall, I would not recommend this as a replacement for a traditional curler (due to the extra time needed). However, it is great as a back-up.

Let me start off by saying that I have a really hard time with traditional eyelash curlers. The middle of my eyes curl up, but I always get weird creases in the outer corners. This is why I decided to try this little guy out. It didn’t take long to heat up, and it is supposed to be applied after mascara is on if you wear it. That being said, I used it like i was applying mascara and held it for a few seconds in my desired curl. It took a few passes, but I’m totally amazed at the result! my trouble spot – inner eye – is perfectly curled up. The outer spot has no creases! I took one lippie off because I think the traditional does a better job with the middle section.
