My first sponge and I don’t like it. It feels so hard and rubbery on my face. I think my foundation is blending OK with it but how do you clean this thing? I can’t get my foundation out of it and I have tried everything… soaking, it doesn’t submerge, it floats no matter how much I wring it out, rubbing shampoo on it, does not budge the foundation marks, tried the microwave trick, well as I said it doesn’t submerge. Have ordered the eco tools blending sponge. Hope that works better. Won’t be repurchasing.

This blending sponge is amazing for the price, especially if you are just starting out with makeup or are even just looking for an affordable beauty blender. Of course it isn’t going to be as good as the real techniques beauty blender, which costs $20+, but it still works. It does soak up a bit of your makeup while using it but if you use it damp this should not be an issue. I personally have REALLY sensitive skin and this product did not affect my skin. It’s texture is quite rubbery but it leaves a nice ‘airbrush’ finish after use. I have been using this product a lot recently since my foundation brush started to make me break out. Last week I went and repurchased this sponge and I am still using it on a daily basis.

I have never been much of a makeup sponge person, and this was the first one i had tried!
overall, it was alright. I found it made me use WAY more product than i usually would with my brushes and soaked up my foundation like crazy. It didn’t blend as well, and gave me less coverage with my full coverage foundation. I do however, quite like this for applying concealer.

I really like this sponge. I use it with mac face and body and mac concealer and it blends really well into my skin to look natural and flawless. I am keen to try the beauty blender now but this is a good sponge for the price and a good starting point for beginners

This blending sponge is terrible. I can’t compare it to the Beauty Blender as I haven’t tried it yet though I have ordered one last week – it should be in the mail sometime. However, if your after a cheaper alternative to the Beauty Blender, I did purchase an egg – shaped sponge by QVS in a Wellington pharmacy, for around $10. This brand and product is available in some pharmacies in NZ. This sponge was airy and light and simply beautiful to apply foundation with.
The Manicare sponge is rubbery and dense, so it doesn’t bounce foundation into the skin easily and flawlessly like the BeautyBlender would, which is airy and light. The Manicare sponge feels rough on the skin, being as rubbery as it is.

I recently bought this, and i was doubtful after reading the reviews, but i can honestly say i love it! I mainly use it to apply my Garnier BB cream (oily/combo one) and it makes it so easy to apply, it distributes the product evenly and blends it in flawlessly. I know everyone says nothing compares to the Beauty Blender, but i really can’t ask for anything more out of this sponge, so i feel no need to purchase the Beauty Blender. I think the manicare sponge cost around $6, it gets the job done and i thinks it’s great.

I’ve never tried the beauty blender because I couldn’t justify spending $20+ for ONE sponge. I picked this up for $6 NZD (which alone is expensive for one sponge), but I figured it would be better than paying for the beauty blender. I’ve been using this for almost 3 weeks and so far, I like it. I dampen the sponge with water (wring out the excess) because I prefer a sheerer coverage (you could apply dry if you like full coverage) and it disperses foundation/concealer evenly. The narrow tip makes it easy to blend around the nose/eyes and the round base is great for larger areas on the face. The sponge is quite porous so product is wasted quite easily!! However, I wouldn’t say it applies my foundation “flawlessly” either. I wash it with each use using baby shampoo and warm water letting it air dry for the next day. After 3 weeks, I haven’t noticed any tears/holes (granted, I have taken relatively good care of it). Not sure if I would repurchase. I think I’ll stick to brushes.

Compared to the Beauty Blender (which is available online in Australia as I have been buying them here for years), this Manicare sponge is AWFUL.
Firstly, it stinks, literally, the worst strong smell that doesn’t go away. It also absorbs way more product than the BB and does nowhere near the job of the BB.
I thought paying $25 ish AUD for a sponge (when the Beauty Blenders first came out) was ridiculous, but they are seriously worth every cent and more. These Manicare ones may be quarter of the price but I used mine once and threw it out.

I was contemplating on whether to get the Beauty Blender or not, the Beauty Blender was not available in Australia and also even if I brought it overseas it would have cost me like around $35-$40 AUD which was a little too much for a sponge.
I browsed through Priceline one day and stumble upon this Sponge from Manicare, obviously new to their line, because I have never seen it before, and it looked slighty like the Beauty Blender, just pruple instead.
I dont know how the Beauty Blender is like, but I cant imagine doing my makeup without this sponge now!
You can use this sponge wet or dry, I usually use it wet for a light coverage and dry if I wanted something more heavy. I cant even remeber the last time I touched my foundation brushes.
This sponge would make any foundation application flawless and even. It also minimizes the amount of product that you would normallay require as well. The shape of the sponge make it amazing to blending under your eyes, and around your nose, unlike your normal sponge.
I think this was only $8 in priceline in Australia, but Manicare is always running promotions and sale so most of the time, it wont even cost you that much.
Again, I dont know how the Beauty Blender is like, but now I dont feel like I would ever need the Beauty Blender if this works fantastic!
I did notice, with the Manicare sponge, after about 3 months, it did start to tear, it didn’t effect the sponge, but i’m ok with that, cause after about 3 months, I would want to change it for a new on anyways(it doesn’t matter how well you clean, it still needs to be changed every now and then!). I wonder if the Beauty Blender is like that as well?
