I saw NikkieTutorials review of this sponge and decided to give it a try since she had such good results with it. I ordered 2 from their website at $6 each and a week later I had them and couldn’t wait to play around with them.
They are very velvety and roughly the same size dry as a real techniques sponge. They also feel about the same in terms of squishiness, but the edges are “sharper” on this sponge, which I like more than I thought I would. When wet they do expand a considerable bit but nothing crazy and they still feel fuzzy. I washed mine really well before first use.
I thought there would be a learning curve of some sort to this thing but there really isn’t. It blends both foundation and concealer very well, flawlessly even. Just like with a normal BB you want to use up and down patting motions rather than swiping it around because it will move your foundation. I only had to use about half the amount of product I normally do because it absorbs basically nothing. Everything goes on at maximum coverage intensity and it would be easy to apply too much with this sponge. Go in slow and build coverage if needed.
Only complaint is they stain really badly. It doesn’t matter what soap you wash them with, they will never look new again after the first use. I can live with that though because overall I really like them.
