This is a good tool to have on hand.
Very simple concept – slip this silicone, egg-shaped tool around 2 fingers of one hand while using the other to stroke your brush bristles against the firm nubbies to clean your makeup brushes effectively.
I paid about $8 on Amazon and find this works well and feels very sturdy. The only complaint is the nubbies are difficult to rinse clean once you’re finished.
I can’t see this wearing out anytime soon, but I would repurchase if it did.

Most useful tool I’ve ever gotten. I could not live without it. Though it is kind of uncomfortable when you have to wash too many brushes it is a must for me! You can carry it around because it is the perfect size.

THIS DEVICE IS A MIRACLE. I recommend that you purchase it from Amazon or Aliexpress- it’s much cheaper this way. However, it would be worth it’s original price to me. This is one of the best inventions I’ve come across. It’s perfect for cleaning brushes, totally buy it! Best money you’ll ever spend! 🙂

So after noticing that washing my brushes just with the palm of my hand wasn’t working so great anymore, I decided to invest on a cleaning pad/glove, but like many spending almost $40 usd on the sigma mat, well it seems a bit steep (but I have bought the smaller version with a discount code from ipsy, so it came to $15 usd, but still waiting to get it).
Looking for a more affordable method I saw the brush egg on ebay, not knowing if it was original or not I bought it for $1 usd + free shipping (for the price I don’t care if it is a dud). But I got just before xmas, it’s the mint colored one (brushegg calls it Pantone337c; ebay green), & due to the holiday season (probably) it took 3 weeks to arrive from China. Not only was the price the deciding factor to buying it on ebay, but the fact that I could choose my color was the final factor, with the Brushegg website they send it randomly.
Now the product itself, well I just washed my brushes (very needed specially after the holiday parties), and I really liked it, it made one of my brushes go back to white, and not only did it take all of the product out but it cut my cleaning time by at least half, so I am happy. I use the small knobs on top to lather and wash my small brushes,& the grooves for washing larger brushes & rinsing. And I don’t use fancy brush shampoo, a couple of makeup artists recommended using a small drop of Palmolive, and this is what I use and works great, and doesn’t damage the bristles.
The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars, is that it is a bit small for a couple of my large face brushes, but the job can still be achievable.

I originally reviewed this brush cleaning tool, which is a weird little silicone (I think) thing that looks more like an egg timer than an egg, on 12/11/14. By way of background, a YT beauty guru I used to follow mentioned it, and I decided to buy it, since I wash my brushes after each use. So for $8 plus $2 shipping, I decided to give the BrushEgg a try. The way it works is that the top of it is where you put your brush cleanser and this is where you foam and lather your brushes. The grooves on the bottom are for agitating the bristles to remove whatever product is on the brush. They came in 3 colors, mint, pink and purple, and they select the color for you (I got purple). So even though the cons outweighed the pros, the most important of which is that the lathering surface is teeny tiny (about 10% of the egg), I still gave it 4 stars. Then another review was posted several weeks later, and the reviewer purchased it for less than $2 with free shipping on eBay. Grrr. I have been on eBay for almost 15 years, yet sometimes, I forget to check it for this type of thing. What I found after the fact was that there are (most likely) dupes of the brush egg made in China, that are sold on eBay for under $2. This is the type of innovation that is easily duplicated, so if I had known, I would have spent less than $2 for it instead of $10. I really don’t think mine does a particularly good job, and the tiny lathering part is permanently stained with my makeup. So if you’re not willing to shell out $32 for a Sigma spa brush cleaning mat (which I can certainly understand), I would get the Chinese dupe on eBay.

Just purchased one off of ebay for $1.27 with free shipping from China and it took about 9days to arrive. Its bright purple and says brushegg, but im not sure if its authentic or not and I dont care. I use to wash my brushes in the palm of my hand but this little sucker is so much better and quicker! I use a few drops of Dr Bronners liquid soap which on its own is fabulous. It’s not drying for brushes and cuts the buildup super easy. Simply add a few drops of soap anywhere you like on the groves and swirl away.
