I cannot say enough amazing things about this mask. It’s fast, but very effective. I had a huge, painful under the skin blemish that stuck around for over two weeks and using this mask as a spot treatment got rid of it in two days.

Umbrian Clay Mattifying Mask – 100ml – Tube – $50 – comes boxed.
I have been using this for just over a year now – I was nervous that it would be too harsh and strip my skin but not so and it is now a firm skincare staple. It is a green-grey-brown *liquid* clay so be careful when squeezing the tube. You should shake the tube before dispensing otherwise you will get liquid clay water spurting out first, followed by the clay … so do give the tube a good shake. Initially I thought I would just use this once a week, however, I was so taken with how well it cleaned and tightened pores ~*~ without drying out my skin or causing any sensitive reaction ~*~ that I started using it as a mask twice a week. A good few months later I noticed it mentioned on the packaging that it is a multifunctional product and may be used as a deep cleanser and also a as a spot treatment! Now that justifies spending $50 in my book! especially as it works. At least once a week I use it straight as my morning cleanser and other days I mix a little in with my usual facial cleanser (FRESH Rose Cleansing Foam) and like the previous reviewer said it is a great spot treatment. I think I have a good few uses left too before needing to replenish but as I find myself reaching for it more and more I may not get as long out of my next tube!
PS. This will stain your face flannel so either splash-rinse off or keep a separate cloth for this.

UPDATE: I had some redness issues – probably using it too often, loved it a little too much 🙂 … so I have gone back to just using 1-2x a week as a mask.

This is a HG product for my mature, acne-prone, oily skin.
I use it as a mask and as a spot treatment.
As a mask, I apply it with a foundation brush all over my face. I leave it on for 10-15 minutes, and it soaks up massive amounts of oil. It can be a bit tough to remove with a flannel, so I remove it with my Clarisonic. No muss, no fuss. It feels great. It doesn’t get tight on my skin, and it isn’t drying. It is a very nice mask.
Where it really excels is as a spot treatment, and this is what makes it a HG product for me. This is the only thing that clears up my cystic acne.
I don’t get a huge amount of cystic acne, but the few cysts I get seem to be immune to everything topical (I won’t use prescription acne meds): BP, AHA, BHA, Retinol . . . nothing gets rid of them, and they can take weeks to heal on their own.
In using this for a cyst spot treatment, I dab a generous amount on a new cyst before bed. I remove the clay in the morning, and I find that the cyst isn’t as large or angry looking. There is no dryness, and the outlying skin appears totally unaffected. I do this every night until the cyst is gone. On day two, the cyst is usually reduced enough that my foundation will cover it without concealer. On day three the pesky blemish is usually gone. But, I do treat for a fourth night just to be sure. It doesn’t wind up on my pillowcase (and I’m a stomach sleeper).
This stuff is $57.00 CAD for a 3.4 oz tube, and while I wish it was cheaper, I’ll happily keep paying for it as it does for me what nothing else seems to be able to do. I use a LOT of this stuff as I use it as a mask as well as a spot treatment. I tube seldom lasts me two months.
I will buy this over, and over, and over again! I wish I could give it 4.5 lippies. If it was cheaper I might give it a 5, but I have a hard time giving a 5 for anything. I believe there is always room for improvement.
