I’ve used this as both a mask and a primer. As a mask it’s very light and moisturizing without being greasy or causing clogged pores.
As a primer I apply it to smooth my skin out so my foundation looks better. I don’t know if it helps with makeup longevity but if you have some texture issues that bother you this works well, and since its primary purpose is actually to moisturize your skin it should be beneficial to your skin too.
There are two ways I’ve used this mask to get a smoother appearance from my makeup. 1) Apply a very VERY thin layer on damp skin and let it dry, then apply makeup. If you put too much on it can come off when you apply your makeup. Also make sure you gently pat your makeup on. It’s a little delicate to work on top of but it gives a nice effect. 2) Pat a thin layer of the mask over the foundation on a problem area. The mask is a translucent pale pink and it dries to a velvety matte invisible layer. I’ve used it this way on the lines on my forehead when they were bugging me and they disappeared from sight. (Side note: the lines on my forehead are getting much better due to MK Timewise 3D set, which for some reason doesn’t have a listing on this site yet, just fyi.)
Actually, since the MK Timewise 3D set doesn’t have an entry yet, let me say, Y’ALL. I’m 38, and my eyes look early 20s again. I’d gotten to the point I couldn’t use eyeliner because my lids were so rough the liner skipped all over the place. I’ve been using the 3D line for around three weeks and the darkness around my eyes is completely gone. My skin is firmer to the touch. My cheeks have gotten rosy again (!!!). My eyelids were smoothing out nicely already, and then I added another MK product before bed one night and woke up to eyelids that were completely smooth. They’d been looking maybe 5 years younger on the normal routine, but they seriously look 15 years younger now.
Anyway. What I did was I started putting MK extra emollient night cream under the 3D eyecream. It worked so well I started using night cream and a little 3D eyecream on my lips, which had started to look a little less full, and also on those forehead lines I mentioned earlier. My lips have plumped back up and taken on a rosy hue, and the forehead lines are visibly more shallow. Oh, and I just started doing that on my sternum too because the girls have started to get a line between them. I just started that today so no idea yet how much of a difference its going to make.
Sorry to hijack this entry! I was too excited and couldn’t wait to tell someone about what’s going on with my eyes rn.

Even though I have oily skin, I still like to use this every now and then, especially in the cooler months. It never really “dries” on the skin, its just a gel that sits on top. I didn’t think it would do too much the first time I used it, but after rinsing off, my face was so smooth! It didn’t look any different, but it felt great. Since then, I use this once every few weeks or whenever I want to treat myself.

OK, so i am a bit of a skin care snob – and this “new” (circa 2011) gel-mask from Mary Kay I bought on a pure whim – and to support a friend who (my condolences) became an MK consultant.
The mask is a clear gel with benign chemical (dimethicone) and a few natural (essential oils) ingredients. there is Sodium Hyalluronate – which accounts for the oil-free hydration.
So it’s not a BAD product – just not mind blowing. It will impart some moisture temporarily and it won;t break you out if you are oily. Not bad – but no HG. Won’t buy again.
Update – 2018 – this product still exists. $22. Did not repurchase.
