I am on a 3 week trial using only this mask to exfoliate my skin, and i must say i am very happy with the condition of my skin now. Two major difference is how glowing my skin looks now and how soft it is.I am truly surprised as to how much of difference such a simple and cheap ingredient makes.
The way i use it is just by simply adding some water to the rice flour, forming almost a watery paste.

HAIR
1. I soak the rice flour in water for anywhere from 30 min to overnight.
2. Drain using a strong paper towel so I don’t get white flecks in my hair (although when you wash it, I suppose it doesn’t matter).
3. I wet a brush with the mixture and comb it through dry hair and dip the ends of my hair.
4. You can pour this over your head too, but I find brushing and dipping wastes less rice water.
5. I either rinse this out without shampoo, or leave in over night. You can also use the rinse in the shower after shampooing.
It makes my hair shiny and soft. Best of all, it makes the curly waves in my hair really defined. I also rinse with aloe and apple cider vinegar between mild shampoos. I might add essential oils to the rinses and I coat my ends with coconut oil (any oil works).
Since I no longer use harsh, stripping shampoos and silicone conditioners, my hair is so much healthier and my scalp is less oily.
FACE
Mix with aloe, rose water etc. and massage or apply carefully to face. You can use the filtered rice water as a toner/mask, or make a paste for exfoliation–though this can cause micro tears in the skin. Non sensitive skins should be fine.
My skin looks brighter and feels softer, but I still need to moisturize.

Omg! Why does this not have more reviews and why do people not know about this little gem??! Rice flour has to be the best face mask I’ve ever tried and trust me I’ve tried so many homemade masks! It literally makes your skin feel like a baby’s bottom and the lightening effect is insane. I’ve been using it for about a month now and my acne scars have considerably faded, I simply mix a tablespoon of rice flour with a bit of water and apply it with my hands. I leave it on my face for about 20-30min and as I wash it off I rub in circular motions to get a gentle exfoliation. Honestly amazing stuff so do yourself a favour and try it! Super cheap too- I got a big bag for less than £2 and its gonna last ages. I also use it as a translucent powder over my makeup as my sunscreen makes me oily when I wear it under my foundation and I usually have to blot literally every hour. It was so frustrating looking like a hot mess but I tried dusting a bit of this flour with a powder brush over my t zone and I swear I did not have to touch up my makeup all day long! We’re talking 8-9 hours of my makeup still looking fresh!! So please please please try this as a powder over your makeup if you tend to get oily and thank me later! Xx

I just wrote a review for this as a scrub because even if you use it mostly as a mask, it still becomes a scrub once you rinse it off. However I thought I might share some (hopefully) helpful tips over here about my thoughts on it.
I tried this as a mask with milk, with yeast and milk, and just as a scrub so I’ll sort of compare them to each other. I personally love yeast masks but as my skin improves I use them less. The good thing about using this as a mask is that you can gently take it off without too much abrasion (such as using a wet washcloth to loosen the mask before rubbing it off, while keeping resting unscrunched face)
I previously favored brown sugar as a scrub for the reason being that I heard a few years ago that you should only scrub with something that dissolves. However, sugar’s downfall is that it’s a bit bigger and therefore can damage more, where this is finer. I’ve dealt with barrier issues and being over dried (which caused more sensitivity and more acne and a horrible cycle) and I have to mention that people with that problem really should avoid scrubbing all together. However, most people don’t have that problem, so occasional, gentle manual exfoliation can be ok. Some people prefer chemical exfoliation and I also am sensitive to some of those. I’m personally someone who scrubs only very rarely. And any way you do it, you don’t want to over do it. If you have a carrier oil you trust and know you don’t react to, I think that would be another great way to mix and scrub with that (as long as you made it each time as it wouldn’t store well), but I don’t think an oil as a mask would work with this that well because it might block potential properties of the rice.
That said, this is a much gentler scrub than the stone fruit pits or shell powders. It’s finely milled and feels like a micro-foliant which is nice. It can be tricky though, because it’s a flour and balls up a little with water (and maybe oil?). I think in general scrubs don’t ‘fix’ most issues but it’s a nice addition. I wouldn’t use anything thicker or harsher than this. And it’s important to moisturize after scrubbing. I also feel softer right after any scrub, but it’s sometimes a bit of an illusion, if you don’t replenish the moisture it doesn’t feel so great later on.
So as for a mask with gentle removal… This mixed well as a mask, a bit easier than scrubbing with it with water alone. It dries very hard (think dough) and I can’t leave it on too long which may be a good thing. I think this actually has some beneficial properties from leaving it on like a mask. I can’t say I saw a HUGE improvement from it though, and maybe again that’s my issue with needing to repair my barrier or having active break outs, but I won’t give it a bad rating based on that. I do see myself using this occasionally to help brighten my skin and then gently loosen blackheads upon removal, but I didn’t feel super wowed by this as a mask. I know a lot of people love it. I personally preferred the yeast, and saw more improvements from that. Again, that might be because I’m sensitive but this seems to be recommended as a sensitive option as well. I certainly think it’s worth trying.
Tl;Dr: If you like manual scrubbing, it’s better than most other ones out there. In time I have started to use this more especially if you days after needling when my skin gets really dry. But as a mask I hardly use it, if only leaving it on to dry after scrubbing on wet skin.

I’ve also have seen amazing results using Rice Flour Face Mask. It’s so simple and you actually see the skin brighter and so soft from the first use. I’ve been doing this mask a couple times a month and all my acne scars are nearly gone. It’s an awesome mask to try it out and gives the skin an amazing glow. Check out the video tutorial.

I am so glad I’ve found this! I saw a video on youtube about rice flour and came on here to see what others think about it. So I just mixed a tbsp. of flour with some lemon juice and left it on my face for 15 minutes, I then rinsed it off in a circular motion. Wow! My skin is like silk! I had a few ‘budding’ spots which are now flat. My skin has a nice glow to it. Would definitely recommend this.

Rice flour is literally the BEST natural product I have ever used. Believe me, I’ve been doing OCM, honey face wash, honey mask, yogurt mask, acv toner, green tea toner, turmeric mask and the list goes on, but this is way beyond my expectation. I am Asian, so rice is something we deal with daily. And when high-end brands uses the pitera essence, I’d say why not use rice flour instead? And just within one week I can already see dramatical changes on my skin tone, it’s softer and more even in terms of color. But it doesn’t stop there, I also notice that my oil production is by far decreasing, so I think I finally can say that my skin is now normal 🙂 I know some people use it mainly as a facial mask, but I increase my frequency in using it as a daily facial wash twice a day. Just scoop one tablespoon of rice flour and mix it with water, apply to your face as you would normally do with a facial foam. You can either wait for it to dry while showering, and rinse your face at the end, or just take it off immediately. Another thing I would do is to make a yogurt, rice flour, turmeric mask twice a week. And it makes my face glowing even more. It also works best this way so the turmeric doesn’t stain you like crazy.
And after using this regime for a month, I can happily say that rice flour brightens my skin that leaves it dewy since I no longer wear any heavy make up other than mascara and lipstick (yep you heard me right: no foundation, no powder, no nothing. Just a breathable awesome skin).

I love to make homemade face masks. One of my favorite ingredients to use is rice flour. If you have oily skin you’re gonna love this. It helps to keep my face shine free and feeling clean. It brightens my skin and helps to fade any old acne scars on my face. I love it! Very affordable too!
How I use it as a mask
I usually mix equal parts of rice flour with organic milk. It leaves my face bright and refreshed. I leave it on for about 15 minutes. When I feel like my skin is stressed I would add honey or green tea to the mix. I noticed after using this as an ingredient for my homemade facial masks my skin has improved a lot! Old acne scars and discoloration around my mouth has dramaticly decreased.
As face powder
When I apply sunscreen sometimes my face can look a bit oily so I dust a small amount of rice flour over my face to help with the oilyness. It does work well. It doesn’t leave a white cast or dry out my face. I do wash the sunscreen and rice flour off with a cleanser at night. Doesn’t clog my pores. I also do not wear makeup everyday, only sunscreen and rice flour if I look oily.

This has got to be the cheapest and best mask discovery i’ve ever made. It made me skin instantly brighter from the first time i used it and i just like the instant wow factor effect it has on me. It is perfect for those who have dull skin. It is great for diminishing dark acne spots and for preventing wrinkles. Rice flour has many vitamins and green tea is a great antioxidant. Lemon juice brightens so all three is a natural but powerful combination.
Ingredients:
2 tbsp rice flour
3 tbsp green tea
1-2tsp lemon juice
Mix all ingredients. You can add a bit of water if the paste is too thick. I use it on my face, arms and lower legs. Wait 15-20min until it hardens. Then rinse off with warm water. Use 3x a week.
You are gonna love the way your skin looks and feel from the first try. It’s so effective and easy to make.
