This is a nice clay, that doesn’t dry out the skin very much. I feel it clean and great for acne-prone skin. I have all Caudalie products. I switched to Caudalie after having allergy from using Korean products.

Since Aveda discontinued their tourmaline mask a few years ago, this has replaced it in my mask line up. The mask comes out in a thick soft cream with no scent and applies easily across your face. Even though the name says Purifying mask, this is not a pore clearing clay mask that deeply cleans your skin. This is more of a nourishing/repairing mask that gently refreshes your skin, calms redness and leaves your skin feeling softer. I use this to relax and revitalize distressed skin before I follow with a sheet mask.

This did not absorb anything, it just sat on my face. Made no difference and took ages to dry. I like that slightly pulled clay mask feel for purifying mask and this did not do it. I would recommend you try before buying. I recently about a 3 pack of their masks and the moisturising one is probably the best, although not really worth the money. I feel freeman masks perform at the same level.

I’m having the occasional hormonal breakout once a month. To fight it I got a few staple items I turn to like my Clarins oil & Caudalie foam cleanser. Alas, I haven’t found a good purifying mask yet. This isn’t doing the trick either. I’m leaving it on for about an hour or so (because, frankly, the suggested 10 minutes mean nothing) and the smell is heavenly (lavender!) but it isn’t helping clearing up my skin. Doesn’t work as an overnight spot treatment either. Some things just are not meant to be, I guess. I like the texture & scent but it doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do, so…. uh…. two lippies? I’ve ordered the Shiseido Purifying Mask to try next. We’ll see how that goes. Granted, I won’t repurchase the Caudalie one. Sorry. I’m a fan of the brand, afterall.

This is a terrible product, it’s meant to purify and calm down irritation (or so I suppose, as it’s a clay based mask), but it contains lavender oil which is a skin irritant. It broke me out and irritated my skin, had I realized it contained lavender oil I would never have spent my money on it.

Even though this product is meant to take off excess oil, I’m puzzled by the oily ingredients. It does nothing for my skin. I put it on my t-zone and sometimes my whole face and I do not feel/see a difference with this product. For the size you get it is a little pricey, I believe I paid forty bucks.According to my research grape extract does nothing for the skin (which is the basis of all Caudalie products). I will definitely not repurchase and be cautious if i want to buy Caudalie products.

I’ve been using this for almost two years and still have some product left in the tube. I have stopped using it as a mask though and instead just spot treat my problem areas. But I can’t stress how perfect it is as an overnight treatment! It really soothes blemishes and just seems to “know” what to do for every type of breakout I have whether it be a whitehead or occasional cystic pimple. And it amazes me how it manages to do this without drying or irritating my skin. The only minor issue I have is with it staying in place especially when I’m sleeping; it’s not liquid at all but can sort of slide like a thick cream.

This is a very mild clay mask.
Clay masks usually do a great job at pulling out dirt and blackheads and unclogging pores, but this one does a really average job.
It also doesn’t really dry like most clay masks do. I even keep it much longer than it says in instructions, but it still doesn’t dry properly and results are still average.
It is a pleasant feeling using it – it’s thick but kinda creamy and easy to spread, smells and feels nice and doesn’t dry your skin, but when if comes to performance – you can get much better for much less money.

Firstly, I want to say that this is the very first mask product that made me believe in masks. There are so many products to choose from, and this specific one is the most simple, yet effective product I’ve ever tried. I have sensitive, normal skin and most clay/purifying masks tend to either break me out instantly or dry my skin to a point where it’s on the verge of breaking out.
I found that the Shiseido purifying mask not only clears out and tightens my pores, but also brightens my complexion and evens out my skin tone. I’m so impressed by it! The consistency of the mask is so dense, smooth and creamy that you only need a little bit to cover your entire face. So even though you are paying a lot of money for the product – it will last you a long time. Since the mask is also so creamy, it applies with so much ease – eliminating any tugging or pulling on your skin.
When I use this at night (coupled with the ordinary buffet and kiehl’s midnight recovery oil), my skin is glowing and super soft the next morning.
I also love how simple the packaging is – no frills, product speaks for itself and it’s functional.
Definitely 5/5 in books and earns an instant HG status.

Really good mask! Does tighten pores, dry out pimples and reduce redness. Good mask!

I’m not sure what this does, if anything. I received it as part of a GWP. To describe my skin, I have used many masks and I find that pretty much all of them seem to do nothing (Murad, Origins, etc). My skin is combination, somewhat sensitive and has slight rosacea.
I am Asian American and thinking that Shiseido must be made more for Asian skin, I was hoping for some results. Nothing. Do not use this close to your eyes. I felt that I didn’t apply it close to my eyes, but the skin under my right eye felt uncomfortable. I give it 2 stars because it did not cause acne (I can easily get pimples) and it did not worsen my skin. I will not try this again.

I have to be fair with this review. I’ve only used it once and didn’t see lighter skin. I saw matt skin. No redness and even tone skin.
I have two breakouts where it is dry and I suspected that I may have some more oil building up underneath so I used this mask. This mask does not have sulfer, so there was no drying them out.
When the mask is applied on, it felt very nice. Having it to dry up on my skin felt very comfortable without any tugging of my skin. Rinsing felt so nice and smooth and not difficult to remove.
I will have to comeback and update the result of this mask when I used it a few times to give a good result review.
This is an UPDATE, I’ve had this almost a month and there were times that I used it up to three times a week. The scent is so pretty and the mask feel so comfortable on my skin. There is no pulling feel on my skin. I have used it as a spot treatment for my breakouts and it is not that strong, but for tiny bumps, it does work. I am very happy with this mask and highly recommend this to everyone.
UPDATE again:
The packaging has changed so I am trying to finish the one I already have opened. I do not regret buying this and highly recommend this mask so much! When I have a bad week of breakouts, I use this daily. You can leave it on from 5 minutes and up. It does’t take too much of your time to do this one daily when required.

In my opinion, a really good mask for combo and acne-prone skin. I’ve been using it on and off for years, and it has become my current HG mask again. It can be worn for only 5 minutes or through all night. Nice smell and minimalist packaging, whitish colour. Highly recommended. A bit expensive, though, as most Shiseido products.
lazyBass8
Very good masks that does the purifying job. The consistency is nice: superfine and smooth enabling you to distribute the product effortlessly and evenly over the skin. Only a tiny amount is enough for the whole face. No particular smell which is a plus. Highly recommended.

Hands down one of the best purifying masks ever made. This all natural product envelops you in a potent aromatherapy concoction. Once dry you add water exfoliating then rinse off, best with a flannel and warm water. Your skin will be super smooth and you will feel calmer from all the fragrannt oils. Excellent product.

Although I know that this product is usually quite expensive ($44 AUD), I managed to grab it for an happy-chemical-rush inducing $12 AUD, so price is rated accordingly. As another reviewer mentioned, this product is quite ‘chunky’, which can make it difficult to apply, but I kind of liked the ‘natural’ quality. I think the product smells great and it’s nice to apply it and let it work as a kind of aromatherapy on your senses as well as a treatment for your skin. Left my skin feeling soft and smooth. Plus the feel-good benefits of using a natural, cruelty-free, very locally made (for me) product.

I bought this product at a spa where I got a facial. My facial therapist recommended it to me since my skin was very clogged. I looked at the price $ 80 for a 4.9 oz.!!! So expensive. I bought it anyways thinking it must work for such a high price. with any product, I didn’t see a immediate change in my skin but after using it for 3 times, I can see that it has helped clear my pores. The results aren’t dramatic but I can see some change in my skin. It is softer and has a more even tone.
I gave it a 4 as overall rating seeing that my skin didn’t change to perfect from using it. I would really like to give this product a 3.5 because the price tag is much too high for a product like this. I am sure I can find something much better for the price
I gave it a 4 in price because it is pretty high but affordable because it seem it will last for a long time
I like the packaging and the smell of the product. It is very natural smell. It comes in a tube and does not dry out. Most of the times the product dries out so you can’t even finish the tube.
I will probably buy this product again b/c it seems this product gives slow improvement.

This is okay, nothing great. Definitely overpriced for what it does..which is not a lot. Pros: works great as an overnight spot treatment, has a relaxing lavender smell, natural ingredients. Cons: way overpriced, didn’t decongest my pores or make them appear smaller, didn’t make any noticeable difference in the appearance of my skin. I’ll use the rest of this since its nice but I won’t be paying $35 again to use this just as a spot treatment.

I bought this in Paris last year when I was living there. My skin had gone crazy (dehydrated, spotty) due to stress, and my constant diet of baguette and pate, and a sales assistant in a pharmacy recommended this to me. On its own, it’s not outstanding at all (and I’m not a fan of the lavender-ish smell). It’s decent, and better than many cheaper brands, but when I wash it off, I’m not wowed. However, when mixed with aspirin, magic happens. I mix it up with 3 or 4 dispersible aspirin tablets that I’ve dissolved with a few drops of water, and leave it on for half an hour or so. It leaves my skin feeling very moisturised and looking radiant, and my spots’ redness and size reduced. The effects are much better than when I use just aspirin on its own, as the mask binds it all together and stops the aspirin flaking off everywhere. Also, the amount of mask in the tube is quite large, and you don’t need much of it to make it work this way (I still have my original tube). Would I pay the £18 it costs in the UK? Probably. I’ve tried mixing aspirin with a cheaper clay mask from Boots and the results weren’t as impressive as when I used this (but they were still good). I know that this works and I don’t want to waste any more money trying to find a cheaper alternative.

I have to say, this is my first disapointment from Caudalie. Not just because the product was or seemed to be completely ineffective, but because I was really excited to use it. I attended an event at my local Murale, picked up my staple Caudalie serum, and received samples from the line (both from the Charity Swag Bag) and the Gift with Purchase Bonus from one of the MAs who turned me on to the line. I was thrilled to see this mask (along with the Deep Moisture one; which has been more effective) in the bag.
My excitement quickly turned to disinterest when I used it after exfoliating with my HG Avene Gentle Scrub. Quite frankly, I have had $2 Pure Derm and Face Shop sheet masks that felt more effective. Perhaps I should’ve tried it with the Caudalie Buffing Cream, but I am skeptical that using this purely with other products from the line would make it any better.
For one thing, it is very thin – definately not an old school clay type mask. It spread easily, and dried quickly. It did not have any noticeable smell the way a lot of Caudalie’s Pulpe Vitaminee products have. After leaving on for the full 15 minutes, I rinsed it off. It had melted into my skin before rinsing (kind of like if you left a layer of soap on for a little longer, is the best way I can describe it), and I looked in the mirror.
Nothing.
I wasn’t bright pink, but I certainly didn’t look ‘glowy.’ My face didn’t look or feel any plumper or more youthful.
Same results the second and third time. I did not break out, but I didn’t feel any less congested, my pores didn’t look tightened. There was no noticable difference in my skin by the third usage; a week and a half between the first and third use.
This might be nice for a pick me up, but $35 – IMO – is way too pricey for something that’s just going to be relaxing and fun on a girl’s night in. On the plus side, I did get three uses out of the sample tube (vs 1 out of the Moisture Mask sample tube), so it might even out price-wise. If it were in any way beneficial beyond just feeling nice, I might be more willing to splurge. In short? Save your money.
For reference: I have normal-to-dry, sensitive skin with larger/dilated pores around my nose and inner cheeks. I also can experience redness, rashes, flakiness, and flare-ups with irritating products. I’m not particularly acne-prone (maybe the odd hormonal breakout along my jawline or chin) but a little clog prone around the dilated area. My skin is very easily dehyrdrated. I did use while PMS-ing, but did not find it broke me out or left me more clog-prone.

I’m a mask kinda gal so Im always looking for the new “miracle” mask lol. This mask is most certainly one of my fav all time mask. Instantly after using it your pores shrink my skin is much softer and I swear it adds a supple look to your skin. Like most Shiseido Products its quite expensive ,I think averaging about 40 bucks here in Canada. If you have the extra cash to fork out, Or even if your trying to “treat yourself this is the mask I’d get.

This mask is lovely! I was running out of my DHC clay mask so I decided to get this one instead as it is more accessible to me. I find the price reasonable for the product. I have used it about 5 or 6 times so far.
The mask smells lightly of rose which I find very luxurious. It comes in a squeeze bottle and is a creamy consistency. It’s comfortable to have on the face because it doesn’t dry to the point where you can’t move your face at all. I tend to leave it on for about an hour or so. I prefer to remove it with a cloth because I found it got slightly milky/creamy when I just used my hands and that made it harder to remove.
I saw some pretty noticeable change in my skin after one use. Any blemishes I had were much less red and the overall tone of my skin was evened. So far I found that it works best on whiteheads rather than blackheads or tiny bumps.
As far as lightening goes, there is considerably less redness in my skin overall. My hyperpigmentation spots are not noticeably lighter but newer spots that left a mark seem to have improved.
It has only improved my skin since I got it (about two weeks now) and I don’t think I have any bad things to say. It is not incredibly drying but seems to clean out my skin quite well. I have not experienced the “powdery” residue that some others have mentioned here. Overall I think it is definitely worth a try.

I’m almost done with my first tube of this mask and it will probably also be my last. It did not do much for me and after reading the rave reviews online, I expected a lot more. It’s not a bad mask but, frankly, the baby powder I use on my face as a primer, worked a lot better. That definitely helped clearing up my skin. This mask has a pleasant smell and a lovely texture (so two lippies for that) but that was it. I gave it roughly 30 minutes to dry on my face and it comes off easily with water afterwards. Alas, no improvements. Onto Origins next.
