   I started off using this to help my skin after it became really flakey and dehydrated due to tretinoin. The person who sold it to me said I could just apply it and leave it overnight rather than washing it off. I did use it as she instructed me; however, I found that it’s not really the most hydrating (or it’s not as hydrating as I would like it to be).

   I do, however, like to use it as a PRIMER…albeit a really expensive one. It makes my skin smooth, making foundation application so easy and even, which is something I do not find with actual products recommended for priming like the Smashbox Photo Finish primer.

   This is my HG hydration mask and I have been recommending this one to my girlfriends. So far I got very positive feedback from my friends who have tried it.

   I do not use a lot of department store products so I could not compare it with la mer, lancome, estee lauder. I started using this mask 2 years ago when I live in France. After trying out literally all the skincare products I could find in the pharmacies, such as la roche-posay, vichy, caudalie, nuxe, uriage, avene, eucerin, etc, I instantly fell in love with this mask. For hydration mask, this one is the king.

   Firstly, it is very gentle. I do not need to purchase hydration mask for my eyes, I just use it right away contour my eyes.
   Then, you do not need to apply a thick layer to achieve the goal. Very thin layer works fine so a tube goes a long way.
   Another thing worth mentioning is the hydration effect it does. Its concept is similar to origins drink up mask, but a stronger version. Sometimes I carry a small travel size tube on plane. I put it on and sleep for a few hours, rinse it out with little water before I get off. With some serum, my skin gets back to life right away even after 10+hours flight. As it is just a very thin transparent layer, no one will find you funny looking on board.

   Yes, it’s uber hydrating. Regrettably, though, proved too heavy for my combination skin: blemishes ensued.

   Pros:
   Texture + scent
   Nice finish

   Cons:
   There are much better masks

   Conclusion:
   This was okay, and that’s about it. It did an okay job of hydrating without making my skin breakout or become oily. But I wasn’t in awe. I’ve tried better hydrating masks in the past and unless you’re a Darphin junkie, pass on this one. There are many products that do better job for the same price or less.

   Alternatives:
   Caudalie Moisturizing Mask Face + Eyes – my favourite!
   Nuxe Hydrating Mask Face + Eyes – similar texture but stickier

   This is the first moisture mask I’ve used in a very long time. It’s very cooling and hydrating and it worked well on my dehydrated winter skin. The scent was very nice and not overpowering at all. I only left it on for about 10 minutes and it really did the trick. I just used my Kanebo Sponge Chief to remove it as I won’t use tissues to remove a mask. My skin was glowing and hydrated. I just put a bit of Hydraskin Light on top and my skin feels great. Sometimes I used Sisley’s Hydra-Flash in the winter but I can leave it on all day, too bad I can’t do the same with this Darphin mask. I’d probably re-purchase.

   This mask is not bad but I don’t find it excellent. It does not cause breakout and my complexion looks a hint fresher (but not much) the next morning. But for moisture, I do not find a big difference whether I use this mask or not. The scent is unbearably strong. I would not repurchase.

   It feels very creamy and contains shea butter. Guess it is not suitable for my oily and sensitive skin. Makes my whiteheads worse.
