I’ve always been one to use a clay mask that dries and tightens on the face, the kind that cracks if you move a muscle so I was surprised that this one did not do that. I do think this is an effective mask though. As others have pointed out it is immediately warm on wet skin, but then drops to room temperature within seconds of applying. The individual squeeze packages are very convenient and easy to use, makes it simple to keep one hand clean and one to rub the product on your face and massage into the skin. Instructions say to massage for one minute and then rinse off but I let it sit for about 5 minutes after massaging in (not sure if it matters) and then rinse/remove with water. Result is soft, clean, fresh skin. I like that it is not as drying as other clay masks yet it seems to be better at removing dirt and impurities (like blackheads) from pores.
Fragrance – there is a mild scent to this mask, not entirely sure what it is but it’s not unpleasant
Texture – smooth goopy lotion that feels a little bit sticky or elastic-like, but spreads easily
Temperature – warm/medium-heat on contact with wet skin, then room temperature, definitely not uncomfortable
Packaging – 4 individual use squeeze foil tubes with a tear off end and small hole to dispense product out, really convenient and no mess
All in all, I really like these, much better than those Biore nose strips! This feels gentle on the skin but does a good job of pulling dirt and impurities out of pores so skin care products like serums, oils, treatments, moisturizers and the like can penetrate deeper and ultimately be more effective. I will re-purchase and I recommend giving them a try. This product won an Allure Best in Beauty Award in 2015 and 2014.

Good mask. Usually I can feel my breakouts coming on and I found that if I used this in the beginning stages (right when pores start to clog up and skin becomes bumpy) then I could avoid a breakout altogether. Didn’t use it on a super regular basis but I finished the package I bought (which had about 5 masks) and I didn’t break out once. Would recommend to those with oily/combination skin.

I tried this because I am really interested in cleansing products containing charcoal. The one-minute mask has 4 single use packets containing a sweet fruit scented mask of clay and charcoal. Apply to a wet face and massage in for a minute. The ingredient, zeolite, activates upon contact with water and creates a very temporary warming sensation. This product also contains menthol, which can be irritating. The mask will not harden, and is therefore easily rinsed off. My face did feel clean after use, but I did not really notice any significant difference in my pores.

I’m currently experimenting with skincare (very much unlike me) due to a massive skin freak-out after the holidays. Cool, right? This was recommended to me by a good friend and I’m glad I found it. I love this mask, and I don’t normally “do” masks of any kind. It’s quick, easy, and feels really nice on and once it’s off, there’s a noticeable difference in the appearance and texture of my skin.
For around $5 (I found mine at Walmart), you get four packages of single-use mask serum. There’s natural charcoal powder in the mask itself as per the packaging, it is activated with water. On a clean face, keep it wet and with dry hands, massage the mask all over. It heats up instantly with water (you can add to the mix for your consistency preference) and once it’s on, it won’t harden or dry, but it may start to tingle. It’s not painful, too cool, or too hot, though – just a nice feeling overall. I let mine sit a little longer than 1 minute. The process isn’t too messy and rinsing/removal isn’t bad, either, but the next mask I do, I’ll do it in the shower just for ease. Before I rinse with it, I’ll wet my hands and actually cleanse with the mask or use my Clarisonic to really get into my pores in times of crisis, like the one I’m having now on my chin. Once I’m done, though, I notice immediate smoothness, my pores aren’t as visible, any inflammation is minimized, and I just look a little brighter, overall. *For a cleaner application, this stuff is much more easily mixed on a palette or in a bowl and applied with a flat foundation brush.
I haven’t noticed any adverse reactions to this mask. It even smells amazing, and somehow, the fragrance isn’t affecting my skin at all and it normally does. No complaints, here. It would be super neat if it dried or if it peeled off, but it’s nice that it does stay wet enough to cleanse with. Overall, this has been the one thing that has calmed down my breakout #2k15. 🙂
