I was quite skeptical about this mascara at first because of the strange brush shape, but I was pleasantly surprised that it worked pretty well for me. The brush isn’t as unwieldy as it first seems and it’s good for getting the outer and inner parts of my lashes. It was not clumpy and gave a natural, soft look, very appropriate for everyday. I didn’t have any flaking or smudging issues. I can’t decide if the tube packaging is good or bad; I liked being able to squeeze it to get more on the brush and sort of be able to tell how much was left. BUT it also was a bit messy. Overall, it’s not my holy grail mascara but not a bad product.

This mascara is fine, but it isn’t what I’m looking for. It is a nice dark black, but I didn’t notice much volume or length. The longevity was really good, and it washed off quite easily. The brush looks weird, but I found it quite easy to use. I also liked the little tube it is in; very unique. If you are looking for a darkening of your lashes without adding volume you may like this.

i like the packaging as can squeeze product to add to brush but far as adding to my lashes hardly plus clumps on me.. so no go

I was pleasantly surprised by this mascara. It gives exactly the type of natural, lengthening and fluttery look that I like. Be warned that if you’re looking for a high-impact or volumizing product you will probably be disappointed by this one. But it’s good at what it does, which is provide a separated and natural look while adding length. The shape of the wand also makes this a good bottom lash mascara.

I received this product in a Birch Box, and it has grown on me after a time. My lashes have been already fairly long since I’ve been following a high nutrition diet but they still could use a lift and darkening. This is just right for my needs. The brush is odd for using in the conventional manner so I only use it that way on my lash tips then I use the round brush tip to flare my lashes more and accentuate the outer lashes. It does not clump at all. It does smudge a bit but in a sexy way not raccoonish (on me). It’s nice when a light coat is needed, but might smudge more with heavier application. I prefer the Marcelle xtension Plus Curl that I got in a previous box. The Ubame’s retail price is more than I feel it is worth so I don’t plan to purchase.

I actually like this mascara.
its very black, it doesn’t clump and it doesn’t irritate my eyes or flake off. that alone is a big win for me.
Its not as voluminous as I would have preferred, but after 2 coats I’m happy for every-day wear. I don’t mind the tube or the brush, i use the end ball shape to really get in the corners and to pull product through the longer lashes. I would buy it again for sure.

I got this mascara in one of my Birchbox monthly selection. I was excited to try it out, the brand Milk is been getting a lot of hype not long ago. How disappointed I was !
The good points is that is really black, something I look for in my mascaras, and it did lengthen my lashes really nice, and I have small lashes. It also gave a them some volume without clumping. But that is about it.
The bad, lets star with the brush, WTF?!?!, it is uncomfortable to use, the form it has made it difficult for me to use, I don’t have large eyes, so this brush seemed bulky and clumpsy, but I learned to managed; but what really made me dislike this product was that within 3-4 hour of wear, this mascara would give me raccoon eyes. It wasn’t just some fallout, my under-eye would be black!!! I tried it with 6 different concealers, settings them with 3 different powders, and I always had the same result, and it is winter and it isn’t even warm; Sad.
I still have left another sample I got from Sephora, and I am torn between pass it to a friend or just put it in the trash bin.
This is a definitely don’t buy.

I reallllly want to love MILK MAKEUP products because they are soooo cool… but sometimes it’s so hard! For example, I can’t buy this in Canada… I got this sample in a Sephora Fav box.
The good:
-Love the toothpaste type tube! So Cool looking! Great idea to squish up the mascara if you get low.
-Love the concept of using natural ingredients charcoal in your mascara
-Love the aesthetic of the packaging and the brand behind it!
The bad:
-It’s not super black….
-It’s not very voluminous… it lengthens but the entire effect is pretty underwhelming
-It doesn’t stay in place all day, especially on my bottom lashes. It doesn’t flake off it just kind of runs off and makes my undereye area look darker. Poo poo!
-The wand is kind of crappy – it’s too thick overall and the 3 balls aren’t that useful for application.
I tried to love it, but it’s just too underwhelming and blah. Boo!!

One of the WORST mascaras I’ve ever used…and mascara is my favorite cosmetic item so that’s saying a lot! I’ve tried a ton of them in my 40+ years of usage. I received this one in my Birchbox. The brush is a total “L”. It has 3 huge bulbs on the wand with blank space in between them. Basically, this gives you that clumped together spikey look with absolutely ZERO length. The product is dry, non-glossy (waxy) and looks more gunmetal grey on the lashes, rather than a super-black glossy look like I like. It comes in a toothpaste like “squeeze” tube. There was a lot of product in the sample, but I’m guessing b/c it sucks and they can’t even give this crap away. If you like short, clumped together, spikey clump lashes then this is for you. I gave it to my daughter to play with.

I got this in a Sephora sample. I get a kick out of mascara in tube packaging and think it’s a great way to get the most product, but the brush was one of the worst I’ve used. The brush is similar in shape to Too Faced’s Better Than Sex (which I’d buy if liberal me felt like dealing with the name around my daughters at their age–seriously, enough sex names since there’s no comparison anyway). This brush has a more pronounced dip in the center, making it impossible to reach lashes in full. I found the only way I could apply it was to use the first bulb of the brush to painstakingly apply it to each 1/4th of my lash line. Even then, there was no measurable volume or length. I agree with a previous reviewer that the application is natural, but I use mascara for purely unnatural reasons. I think a regular dense brush may have improved the result, but I was unwilling to try using a spoolie from another just to see. I ended up giving it away, having used it only once.
