I can’t even remember what exactly made this mascara so horrible…but I remember it being so frustrating and terrible that I threw it out after trying it about 2-3 times, and yelling “Ugh! This is trash!”
I think it was the wand I didn’t like. It just created an ugly, messy lash look that made me look crazy. I believe the formula itself was a bit…sticky???

More like nuclear-holocaust-proof! Which for some, could be a good thing. I bet this would last throughout a synchronized swimming competition. It would last through an Iron Man race. If I hadn’t finally managed to get most of it off using 3 different removers last night it would have lasted till the day I died. So if that’s all you’re looking for, look no farther.
The wand didn’t work the way I hoped it would for me. It would be better, maybe, with only 1 set of the longer end spines; that section is indeed useful for fanning out/separating upper lashes. I had hoped it would also help access small lower/corner lashes, but I couldn’t figure out how to use it for that without the second set of longer spines either stabbing me in the eye or getting mascara on my skin. Meanwhile, the narrow main brush isn’t great for depositing product, and again, the longer end spines were often in the way.
Micellar cleanser did not touch this; I dyed and washed my hair and it had not budged in any way. A two-phase eye makeup remover did very little (it started to flake slightly, which could have been more from rubbing at it). Eventually, several applications of mineral oil removed most of it and I gave up. The rest flaked off during the night, along with several lashes. I can’t imagine using this regularly.

I have a question. So how can a flat stick brush your eyelashes? Some of these companies are on drugs when they come up with their wand designs. So I kept applying this mascara and did not see any difference. No lengthening, no volumizing. This is a joke. Thanks God, I bought this from TJMAXX and didn’t pay much for it. Highly not recommended!

EDIT: On the second wearing of this mascara, a flake got into my eye DURING A MEETING, and how fun is it to blinkblinkblinkblink to cope with the little thing itching on my eyeball? Then after having to rinse and rinse the contact lens it had mashed itself into, I lost the lens entirely, and had to go to a backup lens I (luckily) had stashed in my desk.
Third Wearing – More flakes scattered across my checks, some smudging. Sigh. It goes back.
First thoughts: My oily eyelids make using mascara a huge challenge. Blinc tubing, and Bobbi Brown Zero Smudge, and Estée Lauder Double Wear No Smudge mascaras gave me a full day of wear, but the price!

Today, on my first day of Total Tease, I have been out and about, at work, appointments, driving, picking up gas, milk – LIFE. I rushed to the bathroom to peek in the mirror when I arrived home – fifteen hours later. One tiny fleck. That’s it! Oh, my goodness, the mascara stayed put! Hallelujah!
Yes, the comb/wand is silly. This isn’t a wand for hung-over or coffee-first girls. Being sure to use the curved side of the wand for first application, then you can turn the wicked business end towards the corners of the eye and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y accent the tiny inner and outer lashes. You don’t need a pilot’s license to use this wand. You just have to be careful. If I’m convinced that those spiky things on the end aren’t super useful after a few uses, I’ll probably snip them off with fingernail clippers.
Otherwise, on first use, I’m pleased. A good day of mascara at half the price. What’s not to love?

I bought this under whatever the opposite of duress is; I was on vacation had had a few drinks and it was $8 – I assume on promotion although I was in PR and prices are a bit better there.
At some point in my life – the 80’s, probably- I had a navy mascara (by Stagelight) that I remember as looking great on me. Now; a couple of things – 1. I was probably 13 and 2. I’ve since tried any navy/dark blue mascara in my wake and it’s no longer great on me.
However, life is worth nothing if you’re not going after that white whale. And, in my defense I had my hair blue black at the moment so seemed plausible that it might be a good idea.
It wasn’t. For one- the blue was too light – and imo would be too light for anyone who wears black or dark brown mascara. My blonde light-green eyed travel companion and bff was also not impressed.
The formula isn’t bad. I don’t think. The brush is a little odd, but – and this is important – what did I expect when I purchased a mascara that claimed to TEASE LASHES?? I mean, let’s just take a step back for a minute and think about this. What does that even mean?
It means this mascara isn’t anything spectacular and the gimmick attached to it is ridiculous.
But hey, you never know till you try it, right?

This product is so frustrating. I honestly can’t tell you if the actual mascara is good or not because the wand is just so bad. I see the thought process behind it, but it’s a hard pass. I want my money back. Every single time I’ve tried to apply, I have given up and used another mascara.

In a word, awful.
I always look for reviews of products either here or via YouTube, where this was getting positive feedback. I liked the idea of the “comb” side of the wand because years ago Maybelline had a comb wand and I loved it. Anyway, this was so horrible for me. I tried it twice and I won’t try again. I got the non-waterproof version. It applied ok, nothing impressive as far as volume, definition or length. The wand didn’t make my lashes look better than other mascaras I’ve used and it wasn’t an easier application, either. I had it all under my eyes within a couple of hours. Flakes and smudging. Awful.
I had to give this one lippie because it wouldn’t let me give it zero.

I’m a sucker for packaging and color,so that’s why I picked this mascara up. I never heard of it..Or even saw it before.
The wand is horrible,and dangerous. There is no need for it. Mascara wands and brushes should be kept simple and easy. This was confusing from the second I looked at it.
I did attempt to use it,the formula was weak and immediately straightened the curl of my lash. I quickly went to my regular mascara that is L’Oréal Butterfly Sculpt. Very disappointed!!

I bought this and I’m returning it soon.
My lashes: medium length and fairly full. I just need a mascara to give tons of volume and fan out my lashes.
This mascara is not that. No matter how I wiped off the wand there was always way too much mascara on it. It would cause clumping and issues with separating my lashes. Which that weird bulb on one side was supposed to help with. Nope. It just deposits more mascara and more clumping.
I’ve had better luck with CG Clump Crusher as a base and then following up with CG So Lashy.
I’m still experimenting with mascaras to see if I can find something better. The closest I’ve had to HG was the Lancome Hypnose mascara but that flaked and gave me raccoon eyes. I’m still trying to find dupes as spending $30 on a mascara just isn’t doable for me

Interesting mascara. This mascara’s “gimmick” is a unique, dual-sided brush. One side has a full set of short plastic bristles that are meant to coat your lashes like a normal mascara. The other side has a small set of long bristles that are meant to be used to get at the hard to reach lashes at the inner and outer corners of the eye. The “normal” side of the brush does its job well but is nothing to rave about. It does a good job coating, lengthening and defining my lashes without clumping though doesn’t give me the thick and voluminous look I crave. It also doesn’t “lift” my lashes much, so I need to curl my lashes before using it to get a good look more than I do with some other mascaras. The small combing side is pretty neat though. It does just as advertised: it’s better at reaching, lifting and defining the far corners of my lashes better than any mascara I can remember trying. It also does a good job combing through the rest of my lashes to help fan them out. The wiper for the tube of this mascara is pretty good too. It does an excellent job at clearing all of the excess product off the brush, so you don’t have to worry about it transferring unwanted gobs of mascara onto your lashes.
This mascara has a thin and wet formula that has a lot going for it. I’ve worn it for a week now and it does not flake, smear or smudge AT ALL, not even when I wear it on the lower lash line. And it’s definitely a lot more waterproof than some of the other Cover Girl waterproof and water resistant mascaras I’ve tried. Once it dries it does not re-wet. I haven’t tried showering or swimming with it on yet, but I did wash my face with it on, and it did not budge. It also stays nice and fresh looking all day long.
Now on to the downside. I have very fine, sparse lashes that need a lot of help in order to achieve the full, fluttery look I prefer. The formula of this mascara is just too wet and too thin to build well on fine lashes. It accentuated the fine texture of my lashes, making them look very thin and very spiky. I think this would be a great mascara for someone with already thick lashes who wanted more length and definition, but it’s not a great choice for anyone looking for volume. I’ll also note that this mascara is a little difficult to remove. I use an oil cleanser for my eye makeup and getting it off takes a little more patience than usual.
Overall, I do like this product enough to keep it in my stash. It would be perfect to wear to see a sad movie or a rainy day, and because it’s so smudge and flake resistant, it may become my mascara of choice for my lower lash line this summer. It stands up to the oiliness of my eye area better than most. But it just doesn’t deliver the fullness I demand in a mascara.
