I purchased Ardell Beauty Top & Bottom Dual Ended Mascara at Sally Beauty for $9.99. I rarely ever find a bargain with mascaras, so I am truly excited about this find! I bought this expecting the mascara itself to be garbage, but I wanted the two brushes that are part of the whole package. The brush in the Top tube is just like the one in MUFE Smoky Extravagant Mascara (which I love), and the brush in the Bottom tube is just like the one in IT Tightline Mascara (which I love). It turns out, the mascara itself is wonderful. It puts BeneFit mascaras that I’ve purchased recently to shame. I don’t like my mascara to look like I’ve attached black vinyl spikes to my eyelids. If I want a “false lash look” I wear false eyelashes. I want my short, thin, straight eyelashes to be separated, look as long as possible, get as much length and curl as possible, and maybe get a little volume. I’m generally not big on the volume because it thickening mascaras usually look ridiculous on my lashes; akin to wearing the push-up part of a bra on your back instead of your front, if you know what I mean. (The effect is lost). On top of that, I don’t want flaking, smudges, or furry stuff. Oh, and I want it to wash off easily. I sometimes use “tubing” mascara, but I find it more difficult to remove than wash-off mascara, and it freaks me out a little. The last thing I need as far as mascara goes is to lose even one of my 12 lashes. What are you doing looking for mascara at Sally Beauty?, you may ask, given all my stringent mascara requirements. I happen to know that Sally Beauty often has some hidden gems. I was there for eyeliner and nail polish, and I was intrigued by this mascara.
As I’ve said, it’s an amazing bargain for me. It does absolutely everything I need it to do, and it lasts until I wash it off! I use the thin brush on top and bottom lashes, and I also use it for “tightlining”, which looks great. I use the big fluffy brush to fluff the ends of the lashes after they’ve been coated and shaped by the thin brush. This holds curl amazingly well. I tried it with lash primer, and, for me, it looks much better used on bare lashes! When used on the primer it separated too much, and my lashes looked spindly. I’m putting up two picture of me wearing this mascara. They were taken at 9:00pm after I’d been wearing this mascara since around 7:30 am. No, my eyes don’t have that “fresh” makeup look, but…the mascara is holding up! For $10.00, that’s amazing!
I hope this review helps some of you with frustrating lashes like mine.
