For starters I recieved this as a deluxe sample from Sephora so I dont know much about the price and that packaging, BUT, what I can tell you is how amazing this makes my lashes.
I’m shocked to say the least how much I love this mascara. First, it’s a very wet formula. I typically dont like wet mascaras because they weigh down my lashes. This is one reason I cant love Milk Kush because it’s so wet. This one just effortlessly coats the lashes and keeps them separated.
The volume I get from this is lovely. It’s a falsie look mascara that lasts all day for me. Theres no flaking or smudging on me.
I’ll absolutely rebuy this after I run out of my sample.
Edit: I added a photo too!

This mascara looks incredibly volumizing when you first apply it, but it cannot be layered; it will become terribly clumpy and tons of it will stick your lashes together. It’s a very wet formula, so it is a bit messy especially on the lower lashes.

The wand is not the best, and first couple of times you need to wipe excess product off it otherwise it’ll get clumpy … BUT once you get a hang of it, you can get very good results, it smells really nice, formula is super black, DOES NOT FLAKE, and can be removed very easily … it gives great volume.

I got a mini of this mascara with a Sephora order. I would not normally have tried this product, but WOW. The length and thickness it provided was insane. As soon as the mini dried up, I purchased the full-sized version. It was like it was a different mascara!!!! I never did a side by side but the brush seemed subtly different. Now I got hardly any lengthening effect. It did still create a nice plush volumizing effect at the base of the lashes, but nowhere near the level of drama I expected. Plus the flaking was pretty much immediate, with the flakes showing up under my eyes before lunchtime even with a fresh tube. YMMV but I’m sad that I wasted the cash on this. Will not repurchase.

It adds volume and length but also clumps. It sticks my lashes together at the second layer. Nice hourglass shaped brush but the formula is heavy and sticky.

What’s shocking about this mascara is the price at $39 CAD which is why I’m deducting one lipstick.
The reviews seem to be polar and women either love it or hate it. I love it because it gives my thin, short lashes lots of length and volume. It does clump slightly but I’m willing to work with a metal lash comb as my lashes need the volume.
It lasts all day without smudging or flaking and I have no problems with removal. (I do apply Vaseline on my lashes first and then use a regular eye makeup remover)
There is a rose scent which is typical of YSL and completely unnecessary so if you have sensitive eyes, caveat emptor. I have ocular rosacea and this mascara doesn’t bother my eyes. (for this price tag, I would hope not)
I see the rationale of not spending the money on mascara because you need to replace it every three months but every drugstore mascara I’ve tried has disappointed me. I’ll splurge on this mascara until I find a drugstore one that performs just as well.

I love this mascara! Now, I could end the review here but I would like to tell you why this such a great investment. The formula is wet, yes, but not clumpy. When a person starts out wearing mascara, yes, I expect to hear that it is clumpy and makes dots. But, come on. After several years of wearing it, and now by my age, in my 50’s, one does not want to know that you cannot apply mascara correctly. We need to stop blaming the mascara itself. So, I put the money out and am overjoyed with this mascara . I have long eyelashes but they are thin and growing thinner with age. This mascara gives fat lashes, volumized lashes. It makes my eyes live, they are not drama queen eyes, yet they show and stand out and make me look alive. I highly recommend this mascara Never any problems, keeps a curl, does not smudge.

This mascara made me look like I had 10 fat lashes; they were so clumpy! It also weighed down and de-curled my lashes. On the plus side, I didn’t find it to smudge/run on my oily lids.

Always in search of a HG mascara. I like dramatic lashes so I gave it a shot. I was quite shocked! It is expensive to start with, as expected. But it isone the worst mascaras I’ve ever tried. An enormous quantity of product comes out on the not so great brush so that the bristles stick together and they deposit blobs of mascara on your lashes.
If you manage to comb your wet overloaded lashes before the mascara dries then maybe you can get a nice dramatic look out of it. For me just an overhyped expensive bad mascara. I regret buying it.

Pretty average mascara. Looks nice but can be spidery if you’re not careful. Didn’t flake or smudge for me, and wasn’t terribly hard to remove, but didn’t do anything notable. There are comparable options at the drugstore, and certainly better choices at this price point.
