I’ve spent what feels like my whole makeup-wearing life searching for the perfect mascara. My list of needs is very picky because I have VERY picky lashes (straight, decent length, not too full, don’t hold curl very well at all) So I need a mascara that is waterproof (to hold the curl), isn’t too thick and clumpy (so it doesn’t weigh my lashes down), is wet enough of a formula to be buildable (I usually use about 3 coats), and gives me a good amount of length, a touch of volume, and some fluttery, natural definition. This mascara so perfectly meets all those needs that I want to run out and buy three backup tubes so I never have to live without a fresh one. It gives me SO much length (when I build it up gradually, this is key! Three coats in a row, I don’t let it dry in between). I get the flirty, defined lashes I want without looking spidery or clumpy at all. And for those saying they have lots of trouble removing it, you’re likely using the wrong type of remover, you need to use an oil-based one for waterproof mascara – your regular old makeup wipe typically won’t cut it. I use the Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil and with some gentle massaging around the eyes it comes off like a dream (and the oil doesn’t sting my eyes one bit, bonus!). I hope this mascara stays around for ages and I believe the hunt for my perfect mascara is finally over.

I will start by telling you that I have sparse Asian lashes. All I ask for is definition, length, curl and no smudging. I don’t expect dramatic lashes. I have tried high end, down to the lowest end. I vowed that I would give up after this purchase of Maybelline Rocket Volum’ Express Waterproof. I was determined to never purchase another mascara and give up wearing mascara if this one didn’t work. I am a minimalist when it comes to makeup. I prefer to have a “no makeup look”, just even skin tone and simple lashes. That being said, this mascara gives me everything I am looking for and after a long day at work, my lashes held the curl with no smudging. I laugh a lot and get smudging on the lower outer corners of my eyes. This mascara was very easy to apply, no clumping. I was able to apply several coats without any issues and it defined my lashes. The best part is the price and convenience of being able to purchase at my local drugstore. I don’t have to special order mascara or spend a lot of money buying high-end mascara. I will not hesitate to replace this one every 3 months. I am very happy with everything this mascara has to offer and I am honestly shocked that this inexpensive little gem works so well. I will definitely repurchase.

I wear waterproof mascara because I have long but downward pointing lashes and I have to work really hard to create curved lashes with a curler. WP formulas are the only ones that hold curl. This was good at holding my lashes up but it took out the curve as it dried. It also doesn’t create much volume. It’s not bad but there is much better mascara out there like Maybelline Lash Temptation WP. For a little more money it is far superior IMO.

I was looking for a cheap yet effective mascara that would hold my eyelash curl and not smudge or flake off. I have short, stubby lashes and the oiliest lids and this one was alright. it’s definitely waterproof – I wore it during my sweaty workout and it stayed put but did end up smudging on my lower eye area at the end of the day.

This is a great base mascara and excellent for lower lashes. This is one I will keep with me at all times. I use the waterproof only and it work great as a base coat when I am using a different non waterproof mascara. I use it to maintain the curl that does not hold up if I use non waterproof mascara, no matter the brand, high or low, without a waterproof mascara my curl will not hold up. It is excellent as a lower lash mascara. I also use it if I need to unclump my lashes and avoid spidery looking lashes. I also works great as an everyday mascara on its own. It does not flake or smudge.

I love this mascara! It definitely adds length to my lashes and some volume as well. It truly is waterproof and typically lasts 9 hours before any flaking or smudging takes place. Pro tip: make sure that there is no oil or residue on your lashes prior to applying mascara (always wash your face and run a little soap and water over your lashes). I have very oily lids and this mascara doesn’t melt off easily. It’s a bit hard to remove at the end of the day and will require some time. Overall, I’m impressed with this product and will be repurchasing in the future.

Looks great, but I have mascaras that give more volume. I actually avoid using this because it takes a ton of effort to get off, even with a heavy-duty remover. Next time I’ll use the non-waterproof one because the removal is the only complaint I have.

I bought this one after seeing the ratings for this on MUA, originally I used the volume express falsies waterproof, and it wasn’t horrible but it was very spidery and clumpy only with 2 coats…then when I saw the brush for the rocket up close, I decided to definitely give it a try.
I got it at Walmart for about $6 CDN, for this price I won’t complain =)
packaging was alright no issues there, but I personally would prefer if the wand were already inside the tube bc I’m paranoid about germs and stuff…
I curled my eyelashes with my favourite Shu Uemura eyelash curler, and then applied about 5 or 6 coats of this mascara without letting it dry between coats.
I have to say I’m in love with this! SO much better than the falsies waterproof I was using – I think this one didn’t clump or get spidery as much bc the brush here is made of that silicon material and is WAY more precise than the traditional bristle brush wands.
I have sensitive skin so firstly, no allergic reaction so that’s a huge plus for me.
I did some intense cardio with this mascara on, full on with sweat, heat and grease on my face, and also kept it on while showering and NOTHING smudged!!! not one bit – no flakes or smudging, it held my curl the whole time (except when I showered but water always undoes my curl so that’s expected) and it did look the slightest bit spidery after 5 coats, but it’s hardly noticeable unless you shove your face into the mirror or someone shoves their face into yours REALLY close so I’m happy with that!
if you put on less coats it’ll definitely have NO spidery look which is EXACTLY what I’m looking for. and the definition the brush gives is perfect!
in terms of volume it definitely gave my lashes some oomph, but still looks very natural (which I like, depends on what you’re aiming for here – I prefer mostly definition bc I already have volume and length naturally) I can’t really say much for length bc my eyelashes are naturally VERY long already…so i don’t know if length-wise it made any difference.
will definitely keep on using this until I have some issue with it haha =) but from now on, this is my new HG mascara!!!
definitely recommend at least trying it, and I will buy again
[edit]
forgot to mention, I had no issues removing it with Maybelline’s makeup remover for waterproof makeup (the pink bottle, mostly mineral oil) it came off very easily and I didn’t have to rub or anything

I have very stick-straight, sparse eyelashes that are hard to curl, and it needs all the help that it can get. My HG mascara is the Maybelline Falsies Flared in Waterproof – but I had noticed that the waterproof version was no longer available in my local drugstores. So I picked up the Rocket mascara in hopes it would give me a similar effect.
On application, I noticed that it held a curl very nicely (not an easy feat for me) and gave me volume. However, when I started adding a second coat, it started to clump up my lashes and gave me a slightly spidery look- so if you like lots of mascara like I do, be careful of clumps.
I spent the whole day in the sun and this mascara did not budge at all, so it would be great for the beach/pool, parties, or for long days when you don’t want to worry about touchups. Removal wasn’t too different from removing other waterproof formulas – but I did notice that it was more stubborn and took a few more passes than normal to get it all off.
All in all would recommend for anyone who wants something that is long-lasting and will hold a curl. However I’m not sure I would repurchase when I run out because I prefer a less clumpy, more foolproof formula.

I decided not to repurchase this formula because it was so difficult to remove, and I would lose lashes in the process. This did give my lashes length and volume though, with no smudging or flakes.
