I think if not for the price, a lot of people is willing to give this a try.
I am very lucky to receive a sample as they had previously came to my work place for a workshop and I got some samples of some of their products for free.
This mascara doesnt smudge, hold curls well and does not clump. No panda eyes!
As mascara tends to have a short shelf life, I would put my money into drugstore brands.
But really worth a try if you have the chance.

OMG can I just say that I have found THE ULTIMATE HG of mascaras for myself!!! I can actually stop looking around for mascaras now! I am so unbelievably relieved and impressed!
Yes, ladies, this new mascara by Cle de Peau called ‘The Mascara’ launched very recently this year (2014) and I am in total love. The brush is slightly scoop shaped, and the formula is wonderful. It is jet black and it curls, maintains my curls ALL DAY till i remove it at night, volumizes, lenghtens, and separates my lashes beautifully like nothing else before!!! I am so impressed that I cannot describe how happy i am to have found this.
The only thing that bothers me is that the product leaks when i screw the top back on. No matter what I do it always leaks so I have to clean up the edges with a tissue to avoid my other makeup products from getting messy in black.
All i can say is CdP DO NOT discontinue this ever please!!!
Oct 2018: I have left the ratings the same because my sentiments still remain as above but i have chosen to not buy this anymore because 1) it’s way too expensive and 2) I need a waterproof eye makeup remover to remove this. I use Bioderma Cleansing Water and that doesn’t cleanse this hence I’ve realized that this is somewhat “waterproof” even though it’s not touted as such; and ladies, I’m not into wearing waterproof mascara on an everyday basis.

I think I have finally found my holy grail mascara in Cle de Peau’s “The Mascara.”
ABOUT MY LASHES: Thin, short, don’t hold a curl easily. I am always looking for something that wil make them stand out without veering into p0rn star territory.
PACKAGING: CdP The Mascara comes in a sleek blue metal tube, similar to the case of their Lip Luminizer lipsticks. The brush has “regular” bristles (as opposed to the plastic/silicone brushes of, say, Chanel Inimitable.) The brush is curved on one side, and straight on the other. The curved side really helps to lift and curl the lashes, and the flat/straight side is good to volumize.
PRICE: Ridiculously expensive, at $50 USD. This supposedly has a 24-month shelf life, but I honestly would likely throw it out after 6 months just to be on the safe side. I figure even though this one mascara is $50, it is still cheaper than using 2 $30 mascaras.
OVERALL EFFECT: Really helps to lift and curl the lashes, and if I curl them beforehand with a curler, this mascara will hold it all day without making my lashes crunchy. I don’t see any little fibers in this mascara, but it gives a good amount of length. The volume is also impactful, and can be layered without clumping. To me, The Mascara is like an amped-up version of the discontinued Shu Uemura Mascara Basic (RIP!). It gives that nice, layerable definition that doesn’t flake or smudge, fans out the lashes, and also adds considerable length and volume that the Shu didn’t. I find that The Mascara just makes me look like I have pretty lashes. It also removes easily at the end of the day and doesn’t flake into my eyes.
IN COMPARISON: For reference, some other mascaras I like but have found shortfalls in are YSL Baby Doll (smudges throughout the day), YSL Faux Cils (wand clumps up within a couple weeks), DiorShow (gets flaky within a month), Chanel Inimitable (hard on the lashes.)
I would recommend The Mascara hands down, and am glad that I took the chance on it!
