Eh. Nothing special but I would buy it again if I ran out, mostly do to the price and it doesn’t flake or clump. It coats every lash and while those are all great things, something about it just underwhelmed me. I prefer the way the manga mascara makes my lashes fan out.

I picked this up when NYC was on sale at my drugstore, because I love trying new mascaras, especially when they’re cheap!
I bought Extreme Black, and I think it’s great for what it does. The formula is pretty wet, the tube is slim and black, and the brush is narrow with even bristles. It gives a very pretty natural look. Makes the lashes darker, somewhat longer and somewhat volumized. Nothing extreme; I would say this gives a good professional office look.
It doesn’t flake off or smudge. It comes off easily at the end of the day. I don’t reach for it all the time because I’m a big fan of “a whole lot of black mascara, so much that I don’t need eyeliner.” Not much of a subtle mascara girl. But if you like that, this is a good choice!

I seem to have such issues finding decent mascaras. I’ve tried so many; high-end, mid-priced, cheap. Some don’t lengthen enough, some don’t add any volume, and some clump like crazy. My biggest issue is smudging. I have a bad habit of smooshing my hand under my cheek, which leaves terrible mascara smudge marks by most brands. Waterproof mascaras are less likely to do it, but they are a pain to remove, and frankly, they don’t perform as well. Enter NYC Showtime. I apply 2 coats, have long, thick lashes, no clumps, no smudges. And a regular baby wipe removes it at the end of the day. This stuff is fantastic for an everyday look, that’s not over-the-top: amplified lashes—just enough.

This is a really decent mascara. I have not yet found a mascara that I can use by itself, I always layer anywhere from 2-4 different kinda of mascaras to achieve my desired long, full, thick, and super black look on my lashes. I picked this up because it was on sale, and I use it with NYC big bold volume in the pink tube, and big bold curl in the teal tube. My lashes seriously look awesome with all three of these layered together. I put the show time on first, then the big bold volume, thencthe curl and I’m good to go. No clumps, no spider leg looking lashes, just big full beautiful lashes. The wand on this show time mascara is great for the lower lashes too!

Love this mascara & use it every day! The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because I mainly use it for my bottom lashes, & for that purpose it’s my absolute favorite bottom lash masacara of all time. For my top lashes, it works fine, nothing to write home about but definitely serviceable. But for my bottom lashes, it just makes them look ridiculously long & doesn’t give them that ‘stiff’ look, just a beautiful long, feathery look-I have on occasion even had people ask me if I was wearing the individual fakes on the bottom when wearing it! The brush is small & skinny & just slides in that bottom lash area really well & coats every little lash. And it doesn’t flake or crumble throughout the day, stays put. For $3 I really don’t mind that it isn’t the greatest on my top lashes, I just use a separate one for top & bottom usually.

I got this free with 2 nyc purchases, I haven’t had much luck with nyc mascara in the past so I didn’t expect much from it. The packaging is just a standard black tube nothing fancy and its pretty cheap to buy on its own. I was surprised when I tried it at how much I liked it it lengthened my lashes didn’t clump and didn’t crumble or flake after a couple of hours of wear, going to use as my day mascara but when I’m going out at night I do like abit more length and volume and also for the colour to be bolder and more black.

I don’t wear contacts but I have a combination of sensitive/dry eyes and very long/full lashes, which means finding and sticking with a mascara can be, well, challenging. My HG, Almay Intense i-Color Mascara for Brown Eyes with “light interplay technology”, was recently discontinued (figures!) so I bought this “Show Time” mascara by N.Y.C. mostly due to price — less than $4. Initially, I figured it would buy time until I could figure out what to replace my deceased HG with. To my surprise, I really like this mascara. Problem solved!
Typical complaints I have had with regard to other mascaras involve: a wimpy applicator brush, a great applicator wand but paired to a super fat tube, and excessive flaking. I’ve been through most drugstore brands, including Maybelline (Great Lash), L’Oreal (horrible eye irritation), Physicians Formula (Smudge City) and Cover Girl (meh). Conclusion? Show Time mascara by N.Y.C. is among the gentlest I’ve used, aside from Almay. Advantages include: better price and smudge resistance (except a tiny bit when visiting my chiropractor but in all fairness laying face down on a chiropractic table is tough on any mascara I’ve tried). But the best part? I don’t end up with red, irritated eyes after using this product for two or three weeks. Finally, I also appreciate that N.Y.C.’s Show Time mascara generally washes off well without too much trouble. (I am inconsistent about using a dedicated eye makeup remover; oftentimes my face wash has to pull double duty.)
Relieved to have finally found a mascara I can live with, I recently bought more than one tube of N.Y.C. Show Time Mascara “just in case”. (Things I like to buy have a way of being discontinued on me.) N.Y.C. is manufactured by the classic cosmetic brand Coty, and this product comes out of the UK. It’s a keeper, IMO.
If I had to be nit picky, the applicator brush could be a bit bigger — coming off the Almay with its jumbo brush required a readjustment in my application technique — but I appreciate that the tube is slim and fits nicely in my over-crowded makeup bag. Naturally, I still miss my Almay HG, but saving money for a product that gets the job done isn’t a bad trade-off.
JUNE 2014 UPDATE: I tried this same mascara in the blue tube — the waterproof version — and I do not find it to be quite as good as this one. With this version, the consistency thickens with regular use due to air exposure. This slight thickening is what allows it to impart a lash-plumping effect. The waterproof version doesn’t change consistency, and remains thin-as-new with every application.

This mascara is okay. Because I like to swim during the hot summer months, I needed to quickly purchase a cheap waterproof mascara and Walmart carries this. It is waterproof and it does add volume to my eye lashes, but it’s not my favourite mascara. Sometimes it can look clumpy, but I can usually fix that.
Very average.

i was hardly expecting anything from this mascara but it impressed me very much.
the packaging was very high quality and the product was not too sticky or clumpy.
it gave my lashes a natural look and i love that as i have quite long lashes that tend to look fake with most mascaras. it gave them nice volume and was easy to get off and smudge proof (AMAZING as i live in a desert) i love it <3

This mascara does live up to its claims and gives dramatic volume. I just do not like what it takes to get there. Application is VERY messy and I cannot put this on without getting it all over my undereyes and lids, which is such a hassle trying to fix without messing up my eyeshadow and concealer. NYC does make some decent cosmetics (mascara among them), but I do not recommend this product nor would I repurchase.
