I live in deathly hot and humid Georgia and have found that these elements affect my mascara’d lashes. I’ve repurchased this W/P mascara several times and find it very effective for the following reasons:
1. I have very small, deep-set and hooded eyes that make it impossible to reach my lash roots with a thick mascara wand. This wand is narrow and I actually bend it into a curve with my fingers so it’s extremely convenient!
2. My thick-but-short lashes are invisible unless I curl them, so curl them I must. I use this inexpensive W/P mascara to reach into my lash roots, coloring and coating my lashes and THE BEND of each from curling. This holds the curl all day long, as the formula now resist the humidity. I apply a good coat at the roots and up the bend, wait just a bit and then apply another coat, bringing it up to the tips.
3. Being W/P, I also use this on my lower lashes without worry that it will smudge.
4. Finally, I apply a different (non-waterproof) mascara on the length of my lashes and upwards to lengthen and thicken them (currently loving Almay One Coat Thickening and/or Covergirl Exhibitionist).
I love the way Cover Girl mascaras apply and remove; I use regular (pink cap) Garnier Micellar Water or diluted baby shampoo to remove with no problems. The right price, the right wand and the right formula = Holy Grail.

I love Cover Girl Mascaras, and the waterproof ones are really waterproof. I have the 3-in-1 which is supposed to lengthen, define and volumize the lashes. Great product and terrific price!
I just put it on the tip of my lashes, and it does all of the above. I don’t like spider lashes, and with this, I get a lovely coating and leave it at that. Very quick to apply and dry, great for mornings.
The black is black and the mascara does not dry out – if you twist it to close, give it an extra twist and you will hear and feel a little click. That way you know it is air-tight.
It does not smear or flake, and I’ve had naps in it, so it’s great that way. However, if you are going to a wedding or a funeral and you’re one who tends to get pretty teary, I wouldn’t wear this one, as it does smudge a bit – I’d wear the other Cover Girl Professional Mascara (see my review) which is totally tear and water proof – people wear it swimming!
The price is perfect, especially considering we are supposed to replace mascara after 90 days, according to ophthalmologists and dermatologists. The low price encourages us to do so.
If you want very very thick, spidery lashes, this is not for you, but for everyone else who wants natural looking lashes, subtly enhanced – this is for you!
