Doucce mascaras, specially Doucce Punk(red and black one) are very popular in my country.I had purchased the Punk one a few years ago and wasn’t a fan but decided to give another chance to this brand.I ordered Doucce Maxlash online from a reputable source and received it yesterday.it was priced 8.5$,not expensive but not cheap either as some drug store brand’s mascaras are 3$ here
It comes in a simple black packaging.what impressed me in first glance was it’s wand and it’s creamy formula.it has a big brush but not too big like some Eternity and Rimmel mascaras.I think it’s the same size as Lancome M.Big and I love that size.it’s hairs aren’t covered by tones of product which is great as there’s no need to wipe off the extra product.
these days most mascaras tend to have either very wet formula or very dry one but this one is exactly in the middle ground.creamy is the best word to describe it.
Whenever I buy and test a new mascara I apply it on one of my eyes and compare it with the other curled, but bare eye.when I did so,I was impressed to see the result, there was dramatic change in length and volume of my lashes!
My lashes have medium length, are black and straight, they’re not sparse but not full or thick either.this mascara was able to give an almost false lash effect to my medium lashes.I can’t imagine it’s lovely result on long or full lashes
It has a mild tendency to stick lashes together.not a big deal as I was able to seprate my lashes by rough hairs of it’s brush.I don’t know this roughness of the hairs is a good or bad thing.it helps to seprate lashes but also slightly hurts when I comb my lashes quickly from their base(still they’re not as rough as bristles of some plastic wands)..it was able to keep the curl and doesn’t seem to straighten lashes even after long hours.my lashes looked like butterfly wings when I blinked..I was also able to put it on my down lashes without any mess
It also can be a bit clumpy if you want to put on too many coats because it dries down soon, but there’s really no need to wear several coats as it’s easy to get slightly dramatic results even by one coat!
I don’t have oily lids and usually don’t have smudging problems so I often can’t say for sure if a mascara is smudge-free or not but yesterday I slept for two hours with this mascara on my lashes and it didn’t smudge even a bit and it says a lot because I move a lot in sleep.there was two tiny flakes under my eyes at the end of that very long day but my sleeping may be guilty for that
So there are plenty PROs here:
-it’s not too expensive
-it has a lovely brush and creamy formula
-it dies fast on lashes so there’s less risk of smearing in first minutes
-it’s application can be quick
-it gives a lot of volume and length to lashes,my lashes looked seprated, very black, thick(but not too thick) and dramatic
-it holds curl
-it doesn’t smudge at all
-flaking,clumping and sticking problems are tiny
-it doesn’t irritate my eyes(I had contacts in my eyes yesterday and today)
Now about the CONs:
-the hairs of it’s brush are a bit harsh and sharp
-I believe mascaras with creamy formula have shorter life span compared to wet ones,so I think it’s going to dry soon.we will see
-it dries soon on lashes so there’s a short time to comb lashes(but combing won’t be necessary,at least in my case)
-it makes lashes crunchy and hard
-it’s not easy to remove by wet tissue or micellar water
Two latter ones are the most important CONs for me.when I wanted to remove it with my Bioderma micellar water and cotton pad,I was afraid of damaging my brittle lashes so I had to use oil based cleanser.it was easily removed by a two phase eye makeup remover, still I feel bad when my lashes are so dry when I wear this mascara.I had to put some herbal oils on my lashes to make sure they won’t become fragile in time
All in all I like it’s application and I like how my lashes look after I wear it but I won’t use it daily because of mentioned CONs and I can’t call it my HG. I have to continue searching to find my ideal mascara
