I’ve been consistently using Mad Lash for a few years now. I keep buying it over and over, and I haven’t found a mascara I like better…. and I have definitely tried my fair share of mascaras in between!
The formula has a creamy consistency so it actually grabs your lashes to thicken and lengthen them, with a nice heavy (but not clumpy) coat of matte charcoal black.
The brush REALLY helps with the flawless application; it’s curved and is “spikey” to separate the lashes evenly. Regular bristles on most brushes just don’t do the trick sometimes.
No, it isn’t waterproof and it can smudge, but otherwise it lasts all day. By far the best mascara on the market. It’s $18 retail, but you can find good deals on it and get it cheaper. I stock up! Worth it .

Nice mascara. The brush wand makes me somehow think about the Benefit mascara, but this one is much beter. Gives instant volume and length. The wand makes it possible to curl the lashes. Easy application. No smudging.

My HG mascara (Elizabeth Mott’s It’s so big) is no longer being sold in my country, and I’ve been dreading finding a new mascara. 9 out of 10 mascaras smudge horribly on me, which makes mascaras my least favourite makeup product to buy (read: throw away money at). I found a 2-pack of this mascara for a really good price (at feelunique), and since I like thebalm as a brand a lot I decided to take a chance.
Overall, I’m impressed. Does it smudge on me? A little, but only sometimes. I’m still trying to work out what other products, like concealer, to stay clear of to avoid smudging. The weather is also really hot right now, and sweating does make it more smudge prone. Probably not a perfect mascara for the gym. It’s still a lot better than the vast majority of the mascaras I’ve tried. This mascara is not water resistant in the least, which some might not like, but I don’t mind too much. It makes it pretty easy to wash off. I’m thinking about trying thebalm’s waterproof mascara (scuba something, I think?) during the warmer months, but I don’t know if it’s known for being smudge free.
I naturally have very curled lashes, so I don’t know how well it holds an “artificial” curl, but the wand seem very suited for lifting the lashes. I like to do the first coat with the “right” side of the wand (the inside, so that it’s curved to fit the lashline), and then build volume with the opposite side in the second layer. It gives me really full and long lashes. The really deep black shade adds to the effect. The formula is quite wet, so I feel like it gets better after a little while when it’s dried slightly.
The price is on par for thebalm being a mid-end brand. I basically got two mascaras for the price of one this time, but the mascara normally retails for about $22 here in Sweden (compared to $18 on their US website). If it never smudged, so I wouldn’t have to check periodically how it’s doing, it would get 5/5 lippies. I’m knocking one lippie off for that, but I still like this mascara more than I could’ve hoped for.
+ Cruelty free
+ Vegan
+ Gives full, dark lashes
+ Not clumpy
+ The wand works well for me
+ Cute packaging, as per usual with thebalm
+ Non-irritating to my relatively sensitive eyes
– Can smudge a little sometimes, especially when it’s hot out
– Formula is initially a little bit wet
– Dissolves from very little moisture

Pro: cruelty free, relatively easy to find, non-irritating, not as expensive as a lot of competitors. Cons: I didn’t love the wand (found it a little too easy to poke myself in the eye) and it didn’t do much for my lashes – it didn’t clump or flake, but it didn’t add much length, curl, or volume.

Unfortunately this mascara is not suited to long(ish), straight, Asian lashes, well not mine anyway!
After one coat my carefully curled lashes just drooped. And rather than wanting to start again it was a major effort to wait for it dry and then recurl and by that stage the mascara thinned out. Had to apply my trusty Kiss Me mascara to save my makeup. It was my first time trying something other than Ishehan Kiss Me in over ten years and it was a fail !!
I did try this on my boyfriend’s ridiculously long and curly lashes and it looked quite nice on him!

Amazing mascara, by an amazing company that’s cruelty free, paraben free, and talc free in all their products….this mascara out performs any HE, or drugstore favorite, and is under $20. I have been pretty loyal to several Rimmel mascaras, a few Maybelline favorites, as well as a couple by Essence. I have tons of TheBalm products, but just never seemed to get around to trying their mascaras…glad I did! One coat produces long, voluminous lashes, and 2 coats gives an amazing “false lash” look, with zero clumps, zero flakes, zero smudging…conveniently available at any Kohl’s…definitely recommend.

Since deciding to go cruelty free in my make-up and skincare products, it’s been a struggle to find a mascara I love as much as the Clinique Chubby Lash. The options are simply quite limited. The first CF mascara I bought was the Essence Lash Princess since so many rave about it and I like the fact that the wand is pretty thin, but I HATED it.
Via a CF YouTuber I came across this mascara and ordered it after looking at it online. As always, the packaging is on point and the wand works perfectly. It doesn’t smugde when applying and it lengthens and separates my lashes perfectly It also lasts really well on me, while the Essence one gave ugly ass smears on my upper lid after a couple of hours. The one thing that is lacking and therefore not making this a holy grail item for me is the fact that it doesn’t give that big amount of volume the way the Chubby Lash does. However, the price point and the other positive qualities this mascara has makes this a mascara I would repurchase, but the hunt for an amazing CF mascara continues.
Update: I reviewed this after a few uses but I have since found out that this mascara gets better the longer you use and boy I LOVE it right now. For some reason it gives me more volume now than it did in the beginning. I’m a fan

THIS mascara… is amazing. My eyelashes don’t lengthen or thicken with other mascaras. Even the “Better Than Sex” by too faced does nothing for me. It does not dry down quickly and you can work with it well. This is a one coat and done mascara. This mascara is simply the best. I do have one dislike, though. KEEP IN MIND – this mascara is NOT waterproof. And I mean not even a little bit. One tear and it is smearing. Throughout the day it will naturally smear as well. I coat it with a waterproof mascara to make sure this does not happen. The formula is somewhat flawed. ALSO – if you happen to accidentally poke yourself in the eye while applying (which does happen from time to time) you can forget it. The formula burns your eyes so badly, you will be tearing up and next thing you know, your entire face is black. You have been warned. Besides that, it has exceeded expectations.

Absolutely amazing product. It gives dimension, volume and length. Due to the formula that dries fast my lashes hold the curl all day long. It didn’t smudge on me. I would definitely repurchase it!
