It darkened my lashes while keeping them fluffy and natural looking. I dislike overly wet and sticky mascaras so this was perfect for me. Only 3 lippies because even though I do like it, it’s a much more subtle look, and not the “impact” it advertises.

Maybelline is a drugstore brand known for having a wide variety of Mascara’s. For myself the majority of their Mascara’s have been a hit, until I came upon this particular one. I being a Mascara Junkie was hoping that this would impress me. However it in turn didn’t do anything but disappoint me. For starters, I do prefer waterproof/water resistant formula’s as I don’t need to add an additional top coat for waterproofing. However this aspect didn’t bother me nearly as much as how it applied. I had tried this Mascara in 2 different ways. The first way was using this over a sample of the Lancome Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base. I noticed immediately that it started to go on slightly clumpy and make my lashes feel brittle and crunchy. There wasn’t any form of volume or darkness either which also was a disappointment. The second way I tried using this product was on it’s own and again it felt exactly how it did when I used the primer. I feel the formula is far too thick and it’s not giving lashes the ability to have any OOMPH !. So for those of you who are reading this review, I say make a decision based on whether or not you’d want to spend less then $ 10 for this or skip this for a better product !. One good thing is that at worst you lose out on roughly $ 7-8 and that isn’t a big deal.

This has to be the worst mascara I have ever tried. It looks like you have nothing on your lashes, even with multiple coats. Total waste of money. Tossed it in the garbage after trying to use it for two weeks.

This mascara is so bad it is almost humorous. I’m glad that I found this at Marshall’s for $3, otherwise I might have been stupid enough to spend 5 or 6 bucks on it at the drugstore. A week before purchasing this product, I bought the Great Lash “Big” mascara and was surprised at how long and full it made my lashes look. I guess I was just enticed by the packaging and assumed that the two products would be similar. I was wrong. You have been warned. Do not buy this mascara. It is by far the worst Maybelline mascara I have ever tried – clumpy, dry, sticky, and overall just a nuisance to apply. It is supposed to create a “natural” look: well, if natural to you means short, flaky, crusty-looking lashes, then this is the perfect product! Otherwise, stay far, far, away from this mascara.

It takes time to build your lashes with this but I like that it doesn’t smudge super easy like others do.i wouldn’t buy it again. Covergirl professional is better

WORST. MASCARA. EVER. Do not waste your money on this! I wouldn’t even call it mascara, I would call it a lash brush in an “empty” tube since it did nothing to my lashes. I was just glad to get on here and see that I’m not crazy in hating it.

I was going to come here to write a scathing yet hilarious review of this “mascara”, but I can see that so many other ladies have already taken this burden off of my hands! I’ll still throw in my fair warning, though: DO NOT buy this mascara. Not even if it’s on sale at Target. I was so crazy that I bought two tubes. I won’t open the second one. I’m not sure how Maybelline execs can sleep at night with this so-called mascara out in the world. I apply and apply and apply and nothing happens. My lashes do not look different at all. It’s the worst. Waste of time, waste of money, waste of whatever mascara is made of. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I bought this because I have good lashes to begin with and want to enhance them without being too dramatic. I also veer towards anything that is lash conditioning or contains better ingredients and this is that too. It contains shea butter and claims to be a cream, whipped formula. Maybelline has it under a variety of categories on their site.
PROS: I like the look it gives. It makes my roots look darker without being too much; I don’t usually like a thick base, it looks stupid on me. It doesn’t give super amazing length/thickness/etc, but that’s not the point (Real Impact, not drastically better than your lashes naturally are, ie Fake Impact). It makes my lashes look nice without being like “BAM!” Nice separation too. I really don’t have any general issues.
CONS: It is a drier formula, but I don’t think it’s as dry as everybody is saying like not applying or crumbling, etc… just wet your lashes before applying. I do that and it improves most mascara in general. I have this in the Brownish Black (so probably sitting on the shelf forever getting even more dry) and it still works fine. I can tell it’s a drier formula though because it’s difficult to do bottom lashes with this mascara. I usually just tap the brush on the edge of my bottom lashes, but if I do it with Real Impact, almost nothing or actually nothing happens. The wand isn’t very bottom lash friendly anyways.
OTHER: A lot of reviewers say that it does nothing when applied. I took the brush out and swiped it on my hand to see and little seemed to come off, plus the brush doesn’t look like it has that much mascara on it. I think that is just due to the drier formula, it’s not like ink/liquid. I just use a little more force with the brush and easily build it up.
OVERALL: I don’t understand why everybody hates this. It’s not that bad; I would say it’s average, like 3.5/5. I can tell a difference between having this on and off, so I think a lot of people here bought the wrong kind of mascara if they think it’s too subtle. It’s not supposed to be dramatic anyways. Try it on wet lashes, maybe it will work better.
UPDATE: I’m tempted to give it another star (to 4). It looks like lashes, not mascara. I think it’s really because the formula goes on lightly and is drier, it prevents it from being too much, too fast when applied. The brush also works really well for my top lashes, despite it looking so simple.

I come to you, my MUA friends and colleagues, with a humble apology. I read your reviews on this mascara, but I didn’t heed your warnings. I was like “nahhh I can make almost any mascara work!” So i spent actual money on this. Mistake. Here I relay my sad tale:
I open the mascara and start applying- easy enough. Only, it looks i have put NOTHING on my lashes. So i apply another coat, and another, and another. It’s at this point that my lashes look semi passable, albeit crumbly and crunchy. Halfway through the day, I look in the mirror to find that my FACE has black specks all over it and there is almost no product left on my lashes. So i brush off the gross mascara crumbs and let it go, I’m not about to apply more product. End of the day, there was nothing left on my lashes. Fail fail fail.

If you like to have mascara raining down your cheeks clap your hands!!! Seriously I don’t know why I keep trying the Great Lash mascaras maybe I’m hoping for something magical. What I find really really magical is that this product hasn’t been discontinued yet.
