Just as the first reviewer said, this is a mascara that holds curl in stick-straight Asian lashes, doesn’t smudge, and comes off with soap and water. I didn’t think such a thing was possible until I stumbled on the first review of this product. I found it on eBay. Gives good volume, some length. It truly is magical.

My HG mascara. Zero complaints (what?!).
I have been blessed with stick straight Asian eyelashes. They are not too short, and are thick and healthy, but it takes a lot of work to curl these suckers!
In the process of trying to achieve perky eyelashes with a natural curve, I have become a semi-expert on eyelash curlers, mascara bases, mascaras, and ways to avoid humidity and precipitation.
There are a number of good curlers out there, but until I met this mascara, every mascara left me wanting something. I met her in a common drugstore in Japan, her packaging fairly nondescript and so quiet amongst the fancy, kawaii packaging of other mascaras (most of them disappointments from my past). I don’t even remember how I picked out the 3 mascaras I purchased that day, out of the dozens which professed to give me curly, volumized, sky-high eyelashes.
So. the next morning, I curl my eyelashes as usual. I apply, actually without much expectation (because that leads to disappointment). And…WHAT. SORCERY. IS. THIS.
The formula goes on smoothly, almost like a very wet formula (waterproof can mean sticky, clumpy, gloopy, as we all know). Brush doesn’t look all that special, but it happens to apply this nice formula evenly on separated lashes, from base to tip perfectly, without much effort – and the lashes are thicker, longer. The formula dries in a few seconds, retains its nice black color, and my curl has not wilted. At all. After a few confused moments staring into the mirror, I shake it off and start going about my day. An extremely busy day (traveling with kids), encountering rain, crowded trains, etc. Long day.
As I reached for my eye makeup remover that night, I remembered the new mascara. Could I…no…really? HO. LY. SMOKES. This thing comes off with regular makeup remover/soap.
So I basically discovered a mascara that: 1) cost around $11 USD 2) beat my previous HG mascara in color and volume, if not separation, curl hold, and zero smudge performance 3) did not require soaking my eyes in eye makeup remover for a whole two minutes to remove (although I used to do my plie squats during that time, so that’s a pro-con) PLUS! I bawled as we said goodbyes to my 100 yr old grandma…and the curl held!!! WHAT?!!
It may seem a small thing, but I know there are those out there who will appreciate this obsessive review 🙂 I hope they experience the same small joy this product brings to me daily. Yes, it is available online in the US. Expect to pay close to $20, shipping included.
