This is my everyday mascara. From the bazillion ones I’ve tried this is the only one that doesn’t make my eyelashes fall out from use and doesn’t irritate my eyes. I hardly see any lashes after I’m done with makeup but then I put this on and my lashes look VERY much there. It makes them look dark and bold. I have to be careful to not apply too much on the lower lashes because then I get that doll look that is cute, but not a daytime look for me. It doesn’t weigh down my lashes either.
The mascara is not perfect, if over applied in many coats it becomes spidery looking, which Is a look I don’t mind at night but not for daytime. Also it regularly transfers a little under my eyes by the end of the day because I have oily skin and watery eyes, and often lie down in the car during the day, so my lashes touch my skin. It’s not a deal breaker amount though.
I will repurchase, but will keep trying others on the side to see if I can find one that also doesn’t make my lashes fall off, and also doesn’t smudge. I’m very happy with this one though, worth every penny.

Formula is very black and wet, it can get smudged if you’re not careful applying. I always push the wand to the side while taking it out to get some of the excess off the curvature of the brush. It really does volumize my lashes and fans them out. It does take a while for it to dry and if you want a second or third coat prepare for brush them a bit afterwards unless you like them thick and close. I don’t get clumps using this usually. It is not waterproof but I’ve never had it smudge after it dries.

I think this is a pretty great mascara, especially for the price. It lasts several months and I love the way it applies to my lashes and the volume it gives them. It’s very easy to use – I love the larger wand.

I loved the other NYC mascara in the yellow tube so I tried this one. It is not as good, as it started to flake after a few hours. I don’t like the curved brush so much and the formula is too thick and dry. It is not allergenic though so I’ll try it again from time to time.
Note: update Mar 13/16: I discovered that if you turn the brush upside down and use the bottom curve, it works beautifully. Holding the brush to match the curve of the eye doesn’t work so well. This is a good mascara though the brush is odd. However, it does work if you use it the opposite way they intended. Raising my rating to 3 stars.
Update Mar 14: There are at least 5 other kinds of NYC mascara that no one has reviewed here and I am not going to buy them all. I assume they will be similar. I tried one more and it’ll be the last one I buy. I’ll add it here rather than start a new heading for something no one is using. It’s called All In One and it’s just not very good. My final review of All NYC mascaras is that they are good but not great. They dry out too soon. I miss my Lancome and Chanel all the time but I can’t use them currently while looking for the cause of my rashes. NYC is not full of chemicals and so I can use them. Just don’t buy them unless you are sensitive, or can’t stand to pay $$$ for something you have to discard in a few weeks anyway (for hygiene). The NYC line is bare bones but inexpensive, serviceable and non-toxic, as far as I can tell.
Update May 12: This is dried up after a few weeks. It flaked immediately after applying and unfortunately I have to discard it. I would call this a temporary mascara as it is so short lived. However, if it’s between this and anything by Benefit, I’d rather use this.
Note July 15/19: All the stores in my area got rid of NYC and replaced it with other budget brands like Milani and Catrice. I miss NYC lipsticks. I used to have so many even if they were terrible. They were pretty and less than $2. I don’t miss their substandard mascaras but I enjoyed trying them out.

I love this mascara, it gives great curl, length, and volume to my lashes. Every time I wear it my lashes look flirty and feel so light!

Really good mascara for a good price! Works better than 30$ mascaras!

This mascara was a pleasant surprise. At first, I was frustrated with the big brush and clumpy formula, but being the determined (and thrifty) makeup junkie I am, I always use mascara up.
As the product thinned out over days of use, it became easier to use and left me with huge lashes that lasted all day. It’s easy to remove and only takes one coat to really amp up my lashes. I’m glad I continued to give this a chance and it is worth picking up if you love the look of huge curled lashes, and have the patience to give it some time. I will repurchase.

Ok, so I received this in an Ipsy bag…months ago and I’m just now trying it. With that in mind, this particular tube could be old. I have the straightest, most resistant to curl lashes ever (which makes no sense considering my hair is quite the contrary) so I work the lash curler and hope that the mascara will hold the curl without straightening my lashes out. This mascara did just that. It was a success in that area. It also stayed in place with no flaking, I took a nap with it on and there was minimal transfer mess afterwards (also a plus!). However, I found the brush, while large and fluffy and nicely curved; to be awkward and troublesome to reach the root of my blonde lashes. Also, the formula was clumpy and hard to apply (may have been old). I used a lash comb afterwards to separate and pull the clumps apart, and I did like the end result. I would probably try a fresher tube of this product to make a more definitive decision about it though.

This mascara is my holy grail mascara! I have pretty long eyelashes and I don’t mind minor clumpy/spidery lashes. Gives me length, volume and holds curl😍😍😍😍.

I don’t understand the negative reviews on this product. I really like it. It goes on clump free, layers easily, and the brush is wonderful. The price is amazing too. I like my lashes super dark and big, and this product wouldnt do that by itself, but I always use two kinds of mascara together anyway, and this one works great with my NYC big bold. No complaints here, will repurchase.
