The only two things I found that this brush is really good at is 1/blending out CREAM blusher, but not very precisely. The finish isn’t bad at all, it blends out well and evenly, giving very natural beautiful result. But if you like precision, this brush cannot give it to you. 2/ blending out liquid/cream foundations. It picks up and distribute products really well. You can see the trend here, it generally works very well with cream/liquid products. I admit, this brush blends out foundation VERY nicely, the finish is truly airbrushed-like, smooth and flawless. But gawd damn, it takes FREAKING forever, and the flimsy, sparse bristles make it an extremely uncomfortable process. I can’t count the times I have poked myself in the nose or eyes with the bristles. It also really sucks at small nooks and cranny of your face, so I usually have to go back with a denser, more precise brush or a sponge. So even though I nearly always stand in awe of the finish after 2-3 minutes of agonising awkward blending in front of the mirror (I hate to admit but it’s true), the sensation of being poked in the nose really puts me off. I just don’t have patient. It doesn’t suck up product at all (seeing as the white bristles are so long), and cleans back to its pristine white state easily. I haven’t had a hair fallen out on me, ferrule is still sturdy, firm handle and all.
If you can tolerate a brush like that, I guess this is not going to be so bad. But if I had the choice, I would go back to getting the SMALL stipple brush for more precise application.

I bought this looking for a duofiber brush to apply highly pigmented blushes in a sheer wash. It does a great job and like the other Studio brushes I have it looks nice and feels sturdy in the hand. (It’s a shame that e.l.f. quality control can apparently be patchy, but I find the key is to open packages and examine brushes before you buy.)
I got it from iHerb, btw, using their $5-off new customer code. That meant I got this brush and the angled foundation brush for a total of $5 delivered to my doorstep.

This is a horrible brush. I always go out of my way to find some way to make something I spent money on work for me, even if it is not the intended use. The closest I got with this brush is a light dusting powder, and even there I would say that this is something I only use if I have nothing better at hand.
The brush is sooooo sparse and flimsy. It does absolutely nothing in terms of blending any kind of foundation, even very liquid kinds end up being streaky when applied and “blended” with this. This can’t even blend powders it’s so sparse and flimsy. Maybe it could work it it was about 3-4 times more dense. I tried sort of “holding” the bristles together to see if it could be used for SOMETHING, but this was not only super awkward, it made the diameter of the brush a fraction of the size, and it was still super flimsy.
This was a complete fail for me, and I would not recommend this to anyone. All it is good for is standing on my vanity so i can use it with a dusting powder IN CASE all my other powder brushes are dirty.

I am a pretty big fan of most of e.l.f.’s Studio line brushes. I cannot live without the complexion brush and the blush brush. This one, however, was surprisingly disappointing. I initially bought three of these by accident. I was intending on buying the small stipple brush, which has really good reviews here on MakeupAlley, but got this instead. The bristles on this brush are relatively soft, but very sparse, so not useful for foundation at all. They are also very splayed, if that makes sense, so I can’t use it for things that I need a light hand with, like contouring, because it’s not very precise. I can’t use it for bronzer because it’s not big enough, and I can’t use it for highlight either, for obvious reasons. So I gave one of them away and kept two for blending out face makeup that’s too harsh and for applying a touch of blush on those “no-makeup” days. It does a good job for that, but I don’t think it’s a good brush, and here’s why.
I’m not sure if it is a crazy coincidence that I got two (maybe three) duds, but this brush sheds like CRAZY during washes, and I am very gentle with my brushes. Not only that, but for BOTH of my brushes, I tugged at the tip of the bristles very lightly to get water out during washing (which I do ALL the time with my other brushes, most of which are from the same brand, with nothing bad happening) and the entire brush-head popped off! And I don’t mean the ferrule, which I could superglue back on, I mean only the bristles. I was really disappointed by this brush, so I threw mine out. Still giving it two stars with the hope that the brushes I got were just different from everyone else’s. I really hope e.l.f. fixes their quality control problem.

I really have no use for this brush. Its flimsy. I guess I can use this to brush off excess powder? Every time I buy things from elf they always get unused or in the garbage. Elf is not worth it in my opinion.

My absolute favourite brush ever for applying foundation/BB cream. Super soft hairs that never shed even after a million washings, sturdy handle. Gives you a light sheer coverage and blends perfectly.
The hairs could be a little shorter, which would allow less movement and more control, but it still this wins as the best face brush I’ve ever used.

I picked up an ELF stipple brush with one of my online order a few years back. My intended purpose for this brush was to stipple power blush. After using it for a few years, I must say it’s perfect for my needs.
Since the past few years, I’ve been doing mostly natural makeup. So I only use very light pink or peach power blush to add some color to my washed out pale face. My old blush brush pack on too much color for my age. The stipple brush is not too stiff, and just soft enough. It picks up just the right amount or blush. With a light hand in gentle stippling action, it takes but a second to do the blush. Never have to worry about the clown look, never have to tone down with power. Since my first stipple, I’ve purchased a few more so I can rotate them after washing. Great buy at 50% off online.

Don’t like this one at all. Bristles are way too long and my foundations wasn’t setting easily, it would have taken forever to get rid of the lines of foundations that were not blending, don’t have time for that. The only Elf brush I don’t like so far. Should have gotten the other one with shorter bristles, might have worked better.

This brush works okay, but there really are better ones. My real techniques expert face brush replaced this in an instant, now it sits in a draw somewhere. I generally like a lot of elf brushes, but this one just didn’t seem to work for me. The bristles are too long and not dense enough to provide a nice smooth application. Also, after washing it a few times the handle because rickety and I noticed a lot of shedding (sometimes whilst I was using it on my face). Overall, it’s not dreadful, but it’s definitely not the best either.
