Smashbox claims this is worth $225 based on if you brought each brush separately. But its not really true as you don’t get the same quality of the regular individual brushes. The handles in this set are plastic and feel more flimsy in the hand (individually sold brushes are made of wood). The hairs shed more and are a little scratchier in my opinion.
No, it’s not a “professional” set in any sense. If you already have a few good brushes I’d say skip it. But I think its worth the retail, ie $89, if you are just starting out and want a brand name brush set that also comes with an info sheet explaining each brush (so you know what to use each one for), and a canister (made of cardboard, to display your brushes on your countertop).
One thing to note though, the set doesn’t have a powder/bronzer brush, so its not an all-in-one kit. The blush brush is on the small side, so it doesn’t really work as a powder brush and your bronzer might give a less blended/more patchy result than a larger brush. It could double as a highlight and contour brush though. To round out the kit you might end up buying a large fluffy powder brush later.
