For cleaning/sculpting eyebrows with concealer, the elf smudge brush has been perfect. I use it with my MAC studio finish concealer. The price can’t be beat and I still haven’t found an adequate dupe.

My kid absconded with my MAC 217 (I own 2 – but it still pissed me off!) so I got one of these for $2.00 at target – and it is no way like the 217 but it’s a great and CHEAP shadow brush.
Dense bristles and so far no shedding, however the bristles are very short.
A decent find – but not essential.
If my kid steals it I can get another easily – and it won’t break me.

This brush is good for its price. I think it’s a nice brush for a beginner. Once someone has mastered make up/eye shadow application they can move on to a brush that isn’t as pokey as this. Understandably with its price point the bristles are not as soft and can feel a little scratchy on ones eyes.

Although I think this brush is targeted toward smudging eyeliner, I find it just right for applying eyebrow powder. It works especially well on the heads of the brows due to its stubby shape. It is soft and seems well-made.

very nice brush!!! 🙂

I got this brush to use for smudging my eyeliners and also for softening eyeshadows. It is a great brush for both. This brush I have washed numerous times. It has not shed since I bought it a year ago. Another great quality brush that is low cost and usable. Yay ELF!
truthfulCow5
The brush is perfect for blending your eyeshadows. However, this is the only elf brush that I have purchased that has not been the best. The bristles aren’t the softest and poke a bit.

Does exactly what it says on the tin, performing equally well on precision lining tasks and less precise lower lash line shadow delivery.

very scratchy. the first from laura mercier. other than that. i wish it was more flatter for smudging and a bit bigger. not a keeper.

A LM sales associate used the Smudger brush to blend a swipe of caviar stick on my eyelid and I was instantly hooked. It does a great job at both top and bottom lids for lining as well as smudging. It is densely packed natural fibers with very short, stiff bristles. Yes, I agree with all the other reviewers in that it is very scratchy. But I think that scratchiness ends up being a strength of this brush. It does an excellent job of dispersing color and if it were too soft, it might not be as effective, imo. I have used it to line my upper waterline, as well, and it is fine in a pinch (I prefer a traditional push brush for this task). I like how precise it is and how well it picks up pigment. I am extremely happy with this brush and would definitely repurchase.

I’d looked up reviews/youtube tutorials for smudge brushes.Nars,Chanel and Laura Mercier had good reviews. I went with the Laura Mercier because, I can’t believe I’m saying this, @$24 (+tax and shipping ) was the more reasonably priced and looked to be the smaller sized of the 3. I wish that I had gone with one of the other 2 brands or even the MAC 214. Why? To smudge your bottom lash line, you have to use it straight on (rather then at an angle or slightly sideways) which is where the brush is at it’s most scratchy. And VERY uncomfortable if you accidently get too close to the water line. Yes, I could wash it alot to get it softer or use it til it gets there. But for the price you shouldn’t have to…Thank goodness the store I baught it @ has a good return policy. The quest for the perfect (or as close to perfect) smudge brush continues.
Suggestions welcome 🙂

I have used this brush daily since 2008 and I’ve never seen it shed, not even once. Very impressed. The “Laura Mercier” logo on the handle has long worn off, but the brush works like it is brand new. Actually, better than brand new, because it felt a little coarse when I first got it, but now it’s been completely smoothed out. Even though this is billed as a smudger, I also use it as a liner brush. It is small and dense, good for picking up the chalkiest of shadows and distributing color to tiny corners around the eye or your lashline. I also own LM’s crease brush and all-over eyeshadow brush, but this is my favorite.

Good size. Easy to use. Smudges well and you can also apply a thin line of eyeshadow with it. A little scratchy though that’s why I took one lippie out. Otherwise it’s a good one. I think it would last a long time…

This brush is great for smudging out black liner and makng it more rocker-grungey. But when you think about it, anything can do that…even our finger. what I LOVE this brush for is to set my waterline eyeliner. It’s so small and precise that it pats eyeshadow on the waterline super easily and effectively!

I’ve got the white one, the size is good and it does the job but I find it to be too scratchy, I hate that, maybe I’m over sensitive, but I don’t like it for that reason, I gave it away.

This is my 2nd brush from the brand, I have the old version (the one with white handle). I’ve had this brush for years (3 years) and I deep clean my brushes without fail every week and the brush never shed a single hair. I use this mainly on my lower lash line to smudge out my eyeliner and sometimes I use this to apply my eyebrow powder. I love how tiny this brush and how the bristle is very short and dense, perfect for smudging.

Sonia kashuk brushes are my fave drugstore makeup brushes. I have the white handled version. This smudger brush is my 4th brush from her line. This brush is perfect for getting color under your lower lashes. The bristles are a bit hard. This brush would also be perfect for apply gel liners. Wouldn’t repurchase but I think I can live without this brush.

I think I got this a few years ago and I am not sure if you can get this anymore…I have prob $300+ of brushes (HE to LE) and this is the most used/unique.
I used it to smudge e/l on my upper waterline and if I put eyeshadow on my lower lashline..I think I have to be only person who doesnt like pencil brushes….:) My lashes are too dense to use those…I know problems!
This was under 10 bucks at target and this and one e/s brush (Chanel #2) are pretty what all I need for eye looks. Now why do I own all the MAC e/s brushes?
soreApricots3
This brush is so great. Its soo tiny and small and gets under my lash line very well with shadows. I use this very often to smudge out my eyeliner with eyeshadow. works great!

for the money, these are the best brushes you can buy at the drugstore. they are just such great quality. I love this brush for lining under the eye. it makes for perfect smokey eyes. I am totally going to buy another.

I have two of these brushes, an older white handled one and the newer one with the black handle. I love them both. The white handled one has shorter bristles that are a little thicker and stiffer than the black handled one, which is a little longer and more flexible. They both have nicely rounded, tapered heads which can be used for fine or thick lines. I usually line my eyes with a dampened BB eyeliner brush and powder e/s, working it into my lash line and to give a well defined line above my lashes. If I want a softer line I use this to either smudge out the line I’ve applied, or I dip the smudge brush in another colour to go over the line. It is also great for applying a soft line of colour to the lower lash line. I have also used this brush to apply gel eyeliner or wet with powder shadow for a thicker, softer line. I wasn’t sure what I would use this for when I purchased the first one and now I find myself reaching it for it every day. Highly recommended. The package suggest it for applying powder liners/shadow into the lashes or for smudging out pencil liner.

The brush has a classic sleek design and is easy to use. It’s quite small which enables to easily reach the very roots of bottom and top eyelashes. Good performance in terms of smudging.

I’m impressed with this brush. I love that all of E.L.F’s brushes are affordable so I can test them all. This really concentrates the color and can make applying really precise!
chicRaisins5
LOVE this brush! I use it to fill in my eyebrows and sometimes to smudge eyeliner. very soft, good price, blends well and has lasted a while. its perfect
fondLion7
I use this brush as a powder eyeliner brush. I absolutely love it. What’s even better is it the cost…$1!!
