Sonia G. makes beautiful brushes. They have gorgeous luxe maplewood handles with multiple layers of lacquer. The bristles of Sculpt Three are dyed goat hair. It comes with a protective plastic sleeve over the head to keep the shape intact during shipment. Goat is not as soft as blue squirrel but this brush is comfortable on my skin, which is pretty sensitive.
I already owned Wayne Goss #15, which is a white goat hair fan brush. I think it’s good, but I’ve noticed that the wispy head of that brush makes for a somewhat haphazard application compared to Sonia G.’s Sculpt Three. With Goss #15 the product occasionally lands where I don’t want it. Sonia G.’s fan has more densely packed bristles, and a slightly smaller head. Therefore I have more control over the placement of highlighters, and I still have the benefit of delicate, easy blending.
This particular brush is $32 which might seem like a lot of money when you see the size of it. The head didn’t look special to me when I unwrapped it, but now I’m fond of this fan brush because of the way it performs. It’s a good size for highlighting cheekbones and the nose, the Cupid’s bow, and other small areas of the face. It’s more expensive than Wayne’s brush (which is $25) but I reach for Sonia’s fan far more often.
