   Heh, the reason for one lippie off is this takes more than a day to dry, it’s very dense and soft, but in a firm way.

   I got this to replace the beautyblender; though I still have that and still like it, I am reluctant to continue shelling out $20 per sponge on a regular basis. (I figure if I use it only for a final blending, it’ll last me longer.)

   The brush is an unusual shape; when held out with bristles toward you, it is a teardrop shape–that is, rounded at the larger end, narrow and pointed at the smaller end. At first, I felt the handle to be too long, had trouble whacking it into the mirror; now I’m used to it and don’t have a problem. The narrow end works well on smaller areas (though I did get the precision #67 brush for undereye/nose).

   So, once I got this, at first I had trouble figuring out how to use it. I tried a few times and wasn’t impressed; was rather annoyed that I’d bought this expensive (yes, to me $36 is expensive for a brush!) brush and couldn’t use it. Around the same time I got the new Bobbi Brown Skin Moisture Cream Compact foundation and was likewise having trouble with application.

   Finally I found a video on how to use the brush (I’m not much for videos, too impatient). I ran with that, and used it with the BB foundation. WOW! (see my review for the BB for more about that) I’ve since used this with my Ulta cream foundation, and for my sister with WnW Coverall (H’ween costume). Has worked great with all of them.

   Technique: Do NOT apply dots on your face and blend with this. Tap the brush gently but firmly into the foundation (if liquid, put in palette or back of your hand). Don’t saturate it, just coat the tips of the bristles. Now TAP (press) into your face, moving fairly quickly across. I’ve found I need far LESS foundation than I would otherwise use. Don’t buff or blend with the brush, but you can “re-tap” with it as the product is dispensed on your face. (A tiny bit of sidewise motion is OK.) One tap (for cream foundation anyway) for forehead, and one each for cheeks, then nose/chin. I do like to use my damp beautyblender at the end to set it all, but probably not necessary. This provides a beautiful skin finish, I hesitate to say “full coverage” because to me that means heavy/cakey, and this doesn’t do that. Though it might if you use too much product.

   I bought it on a whim, because my Sigma F88 has been falling apart, and I needed a good replacement. There were no reviews on this brush but I liked the description and the way the bristles felt on my hand (so soft and yet so densely packed) that I bought it blind, figuring I could always return it if I didn’t like it.

   It claims to turn any foundation into a full coverage foundation, and to act as a sponge – meaning, you don’t buff or swirl with this brush, you just pat-pat-pat for a seamless full coverage. It’s true. They say if you try buffing with it it would remove the foundation just applied, but I did manage to buff a bit on my nose and it was just fine.

   Pros:
   – soft, short bristles densely packed, that feel as soft as my BeautyBlender when patting on
   – the finish is absolutely gorgeous, seamless, no streaks, very even and yes – full (I tried it with ELDWL which is high coverage anyway though)
   – the finish looked more luminous/glowy than with my other brushes, I’m not sure why
   – the shape is very interesting and makes it easy to reach all the hard-to-reach areas
   – all you need to do is pat it everywhere and it does the job for you
   – the case it comes with is easy to open/close and protects the head of the brush
   – it washes easily and dries quickly (synthetic bristles)

   Cons:
   – I find that I need to use more foundation with this brush
   – the handle is a bit too long, I poked my mirror quite a few times with it so you have to stay farther away from your mirrors while using this brush
   – it’s pricey

   All in all, I think I made a good choice, I am very pleased with this brush and I may purchase others from this line when the ones I’m currently using give in.
