Review consists of three parts: 1 – my opinion, 2 – review of brushes, 3 – my verdict. Long review, but you don’t have to read the whole thing if you don’t want to 😉 But it’s meant for your own good + you do like to investigate before spending $149 + shipping/handling + maybe taxes?
——————————————————————————————————-
Agree with the review under me: a lot of youtubers must have exaggerated the quality of these.
‘
I got mine because Sigma had sale on it one time, I think, and I really wanted a big set of brushes because the only good quality brushes you can get where I live are MAC, and they cost a fortune, although, I do have 5 of them… But the set cost me more than I thought, cause shipping/handling wasn’t cheap, so recommend finding out about this if it’s important to you not to get unexpected costs.
‘
Some of these brushes I really like, but many are just not necessary to get, so I would advice people to first look at the different kits, and then also reading about the different brushes. Or else you’ll get the effect of fancy looking brushes when they’re in the kit, but when you focus on each brush you’ll understand that many won’t be used.
‘
Some of my brushes I didn’t use right away, but about 2 months after I got the set. Some of them were shedding a lot, so I mailed Sigma, and they were really nice about it and sent me replacements.
How to test out if a brush is shedding: 1- carefully pull on the hair (don’t actually try to drag any out). Works better on big brushes. 2 – works on all brushes: use for example the back of your hand or some paper, stipple the brush pretty hard and swirl it around in each direction pretty fast. Some brushes have hair that falls out or breaks really easy, which should not happen.
‘
So, my experience with the brushes (some of the brushes I haven’t tried out yet, so will update when do):
‘
These actually stay soft for much longer than the MAC ones – kinda surprised me. I don’t think I will ever go back to MAC brushes – I like the Sigma ones better, and it’s about quality, not price.
‘
SS134/F20 – large powder: this is one BIG brush! I would probably use it for body powder, but I’m not a fan of body powder…
‘
SS138/F25 – tapered face brush: one more huge brush. This shed, so I haven’t tried it out
‘
SS131/F15 – duo fibre powder/blush brush: do not like. The white bristles are a little bit stiff, so it’s hard to get some powder on the the bristles further to the sides of the brush, which means that the only surface that hits the powder and your face is the small middle part
‘
SS129/F10 – powder/blush: very nice if you got one that doesn’t shed. This looks like MAC’s 116 in a slightly bigger variant, and is pretty similar in use, but a little less dense. I actually like it better than the MAC one
‘
SS165/F35 – tapered highlighter brush: smaller tapered brush. This shed, so I didn’t take time to try it…
‘
SS192/F65 – large concealer: no shedding, too big bristles (bit streaky application). It’s a bit stiff, hard to clean properly (because of density and size) + absorbs product. No good.
‘
SS227/E50 – large fluff brush: dense brush. Recommended for contouring or applying single shades eyeshadow in their brochure. May use a bit much product (just a guess) because it’s so round and dense. Would probably work well if you applied a bit too much eye shadow and need to fade it out
‘
SS217/E25 – blending brush: Like! I use eyeshadow a lot, and I’m using this a lot! It’s a nice brush with a little dense hair, which is good for applying eyeshadow and blending them! Looks exactly like mac 217
‘
SS222/E35 – tapered blending brush: another brush I use a lot. The shape is a bit like MAC’s 222. This doesn’t shed and is a nice brush when you want a little more precision than you get with your regular eyeshadow brushes, like for the crease
‘
SS195/F75 – concealer brush: I’m a noob when it comes to these concealer brushes, but it’s OK. It’s a stiff dense brush which is handy for things like areas around the nose or to conceal small spots.
‘
SS226/E45 – small tapered blending brush: handy, but sheds a little
‘
SS212/ E15 – flat definer brush: …umm…I just don’t know how I possibly could use it. It’s wide and flat and straight, and is therefore really clumsy if you use it on eyes. I’m actually wondering if I should cut it to the shape I need or smth… An angled brush would be better
‘
SS214/E20 – short shader brush: do not use this much, but probably be good for precise application of eyeshadow or smudging colour along lashline. Else: a bit too stiff
‘
SS210/E10 – small eyeliner brush: well… it is what it is. Probably better for liquid liner than powder if you want a precise thin line, but I like using angled brushes better. BTW, this is soft not stiff
‘
SS316/L05 – lip brush: I like that this is retractable and looks simple and pretty. This is a good thing to have for lipsticks of dark or bright colour if you actually want your lips to look neat. Many lipsticks are just impossible to work with just by using the stick alone. Recommend
–
I repeat: you probably do not need all of these, and if you will use just a few, this kit is going to cost you more than necessary – then it’s better to buy single brushes. For me: I use 4/15 ~ about 40 dollar for 1 brush if you don’t count the pouch. Boohoo…
‘
FINAL COMMENT:
Some of these are good quality, but some shed a lot – but not the main point: this kit hasn’t got everything you need, but does have a lot of things you won’t need. I would not recommend buying whole kit.

I purchased both prem prof (15 brushes) and complete kit (12)
I think sigma sent alot of kits out for free to u tubers, so there are soooooo many great/excellent reviews out theres so BEWARE OF U TUBE.
But Its a generally good price for the quality, but they aren’t as fantastic as some of the you tubers make it, I really don’t think all the brushes are necessary either.
I don’t likes:
-come on they are made in china(they like to label it made in PRC) but it’s no where to be seen till you receive the products, and I notice that some of the tapered blending brushes where second cut brushes AND not symetrical. secondcut means the brush is made, and then fibres are cut again = not as precisly made therefore needing a trim after assembling.
-duo fibre f50 dupe mac187 it’s really filmsy and doesn’t put on foundation properly.
-duo fibre f15 is also crap, same prob as f50
-f20 and f30 shed like hell when you wash it.
LOVE
the e25 would def buy this single one again.
next purchase I want to try hakuhodo brushes for premium quality and cheaper than mac

I ordered these off the Sigma site and 3 days later they were at my house so that just amazing right there. I had heard that the 2nd batch of these brushes werent as good as the first the day before they came and paniced so I wrote to Sigma and asked if their was a return policy if I recieved a mis-shapen brush or one that sheds OVER and over and they were VERY nice and got back to me and said that if I feel that I recieved a bad brush in any way to contact them print out a return label of as many brushes that needed to be swapped for new ones and they would take care of it. So I thought that was amazing customre service right there! I did not have to do that though. They came looking just like they did on the site and its odd to me cause a friend of mine just got a set and they look so bad like different then mine! Mine are perfect! The “egg” shaped brushes are nice and pointed as other people that got them werent so lucky and that really stinks. I must say these brushes are quite the investment for the $156.00 I paid in total BUT I look at it this way 1 of the MAC brushes like this is near $60.00 with tax so I look at is as a steal! I really cant compare these to MAC though, each company is its own and yes they are very similar but MAC is a wonderful company with phenominal brushes but I simply just cant afford all the brushes that I need! It is that simple! But I have some and love them. As far as shedding I have had very minimul shedding as I expect! Shoot some of my MAC brushes shed more then these have LOL! All I can say is if you get a good set they will not let you down at all but if you get a bad set call or write to Sigma and they will take care of it. Writing these reviews and not to them will not help your brush situation lol so talk to them they are very helpful!!
