This is my absolute fave foundation brush, for liquid or powder/mineral foundation. So soft, no streaking. Easy to clean. I got mine in a set at SDM last year, well worth the $1.50 change if you are using it on mattes or multi. My foundation product is actually a blend of 3:3 Silk Purple Pumice foundation, black_blue. I really like the texture of the flakes, they look great in carmine. Not a bulky brush, but I am not too impressed by it. I plan on using this foundation for fine dark purples and is pretty ready for beginners as well as for lather and also lip balm!

I have had this brush for about four years now and it is worth the money! A little expensive to start with but through many washes the hairs stay in place… not in the sink or on my face. The coverage is even and doesn’t streak like cheaper brushes can. Soft bristles cleans easily.

I really like this foundation brush. I also own a foundation brush by Cover FX and had used MAC #190. The Lise Watier one is really special because of the following reasons. First, the bristles/hair are shaped differently. From the front view, it is rounder than CoverFX and MAC. From the side view, this brush has the milk carton shape instead of the V shape the other two brushes have. The shape made the brush fuller, in turn made foundation application more like using a sponge. The short handle also helps the brush to fit the hand and I find it much more comfortable to hold this brush when applying foundation. The individual bristles are thicker than the other two brushes. I will buy this again over the other two brushes, because this is less expensive and provides better application. (BTW, recently, I got into using stippling brush <3)
Now on to the latch. The formulation of this brush is pretty heavy. I found the brush I like the best even though I like Apple Daily's Cosmecca Bronzer effect.
With the bristles out of the way, it is easy to distinguish between the different different uses. This brush holds up well, with very little potential for slipping and puckering. Also, the bristles seem fairly relaxed. Only a few possible uses in particular (at a leisurely tempo). For some reason, I only have one full size brush and will be trying to get the other a little more practice. Also, when using MAC #270, I'm very familiar with Lizinghohl's Pencil Saver. Still, you can't really tell the difference in applicability here. Additionally, the bristles look a bit smaller and my fingers are still slightly tired after a few minutes. A lot of fans have said that when using Lizinghohl's workset, I feel the brush doesn't stick. On the other hand, it does hold up nicely against the brushes I used. (After 10 minutes, I see how much effort there is at applying my favorite formula.)
You will notice two large thick bristles to keep in place. Again, I would like to point out that this brush is much narrower than the Lizinghohl lines. MAC #70 (I really love this brush) isn't any better than those with lip gloss. I am still on the fence about this one because it can seem more wayed. It can either look more a tiny bit too thin or a little too heavy. Also, I'd recommend using MAC #195 not under eyeshadow though. (The thickness difference between MAC #195 and MAC #135 are the same and you can see at the end of each post I was discussing the exact formulas using and macbooklets.)
Overall, the Lizinghohl formula had a really solid finish for one day use and is still a really good idea. Overall, MAC #191 is similar to the previous formulations so don't expect to feel it disappears. After some fine technical thought and preparation, I decided to try using MAC #138. It's really good since it takes care of masking primer effect the more you use it. It has a lot of resistance in overall application and at only 14 I don't feel it ever is too wet. The formula is really easy to apply,

This was my go to brush when applying my lancome foundation until within 2 months or so the soft bristles started falling out and then purchased again and exact same thing, was not impressed with the quality of this at all. Now using Lancome’s foundation brush as of last 2 years and had no issues with it whatsoever.

I bought this brush in 2013 in Paris. It was the first make up brush I ever purchased. Before I bought this brush I always applied my foundation with my fingers and I insisted on when they say that: “you have to apply your foundation with brushes”, is just pure marketing and nothing else. well I think if this brush was not on the offer and I didn’t know what else I pick to complete my 3 items I still wouldn’t buy it and would be the idiot I used to be. Anyway I am glad that I bought it because when I applied my foundation for the first time with the brush I realised how wrong I was. my foundation, Lancôme Miracle Natural, just sat nicely and evenly on my skin and it felt just so right. plus I didn’t have a dirty fingers any more. since I am using this brush my foundation is holding as twice more as when I applied it with my fingers. just bit of foundation on the brush, voila it covers all my face. And Cleaning the brush is like so fast and easy and it dries really fast too. As geneva is humid I am surprise how fast it dries. Overall, I totally recommend this brush as I am having it now for 4 years wash it for once a week and it still looks great.

This brush was the first foundation brush I bought and it was bad enough to put me off them for awhile! It feels soft and doesn’t shed, but the result it gives is awful. I gave it three tries, applying a different liquid foundation each time varying from quite viscous to thin in case one particular formula just didn’t work with the brush.
It’s not the shape that’s the problem but the bristles, which soak up most of the product.
Like others have said, this brush streaks like crazy. The bristles quickly clump together so it’s useless for buffing and when this happens it has a grotty, icky feel. It’s quite difficult to clean too. I just threw mine out.
I suggest Bobbi Brown’s foundation brush (which has the same paddle shape, if you like that), the high coverage foundation brush by Dior or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.

So at first I didn’t like this brush at all! But I later figured out that I wasn’t using it right, and now am LOVING it!
So at first I pump a little amount of my foundation in the back of my hand then I dot it on my face and use the brush to blend it in. It works like magic.
Though you need to wash it after every use but it dries quickly.

I’ve bought several of these brushes from Dermstore, Beautylish and TJ Maxx. If you can’t guess, this is my absolute favorite foundation brush, and I can’t go back to using any other.
This is a nice, dense synthetic brush that doesn’t excessively absorb product, it gives skin a very natural finish and works well with liquid, cream and powder foundations. It also washes well and keeps its shape. The only con I can think of is that this is an expensive brush, but imo it is worth it for me. I have moderate facial psoriasis and it used to take me 10 minutes at least to do my base. With this brush I can literally get a flawless application in one minute.
Apparently Kevyn Aucoin designed this brush to mimic fingertip application. You can swipe the brush across your face, but the best method I’ve found is to bounce it like you would a beauty blender. I saw this tip on several YouTube reviews that I watched before purchasing my first brush. I put on my foundation with this brush and then use the same brush for my setting and finishing powders. It has saved me so much time!
I definitely recommend this foundation brush. And I highly suggest that you buy it from an authorized reseller and not places like Amazon, eBay or flea markets. I’ve seen a lot of fakes being sold. The cheapest I’ve found for an authentic brush was about $60-ish and it normally retails for around $82. If you see one for like $25 I’d look more closely at it. Be careful! There are tons fakes out there and you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on a subpar brush. TJ Maxx occasionally has deals on KA brushes, so keep a look out for them there if you wanna save a little.

I bought this on eBay when I was clearly on the manic end of my hypo-manic depression, I paid $25, it retails for $82, and it’s worth $4.99.
Why? Firstly this is an excessively heavy brush, no doubt due to the exquisite Lucite handle(which is why this is so pricey)the bristles are Taklon(made exclusively by DuPont)and are so densely packed that tinned sardines have more room to roam. It’s all so unnecessary as this does nothing special for blending, applying, or finishing foundation or any cream/grease makeup ie.: cream rouge, contour, and highlight creams. As a piece of sculpture, this is somewhat interesting but that’s about it.
Oh and P.S. This is made in China, not Japan whereas now we all know the best brushes are made…although I have some gems that are made in France.

Amazing brush for those who prefer a brush over a sponge to apply foundations. This is definitely a luxury brush – it’s heavy and feels really good in the hand. The handle is a dense plastic, but I haven’t noticed much scratching. The bristles are synthetic, incredibly dense, and very soft on the face. I first dot my face with foundation, and then hold the brush at the ferrule (like a marker/pencil) to tap the foundation in. The key is the tap-tap-tap motion, similar to using a Beauty Blender. The result is a flawless “just-like-skin” finish. The brush does soak up some product, but nowhere close to the amount of a sponge. After washing the brush several times, I have had ZERO issues with shedding hairs. But beware that it takes 2 days to dry this brush after washing because of how densely packed it is. Overall, I think you will be really pleased with the quality and performance of this brush. Expensive, but oh-so-worth-it

Darn it. I purchased this at an off center store hoping for $59 I would return it. Actually, I purchased it thinking I WOULD return it bc it is crazy expensive. I wanted to see what such an expensive brush would be like. Retails $82…off center price $59. I literally just purchased an IT Buffing foundation brush two weeks ago that I love. $23…
I’m keeping both! Nooo! But yes. Sadly. The KA brush is simply…amazing. I’m so glad I’m only paying $59 vs $82! Not sure I could swallow full retail. I seem to not have touched my IT brush since I purchased the AK…but, will keep both.
Liquid makeup applies w ease. Feels soft and thick. Bends well but brush still has form. Love the pointed tip for around my eyes. I can tap w the brish for a thicker application in spots when needed. I don’t know this brand other than it is high end so I had no preconceived notions.

i cannot recommend this brush at all. its just soo streaky and horrid. i used it twice just to give it a chance but no it failed and made my foundation look so so bad that i went over it again with a beauty blender just to smooth and even it out. the bristles are far too long and paint brush like that it doesnt apply or blend your foundation. the bristles are also not very nice on the face, very scratchy and rough which is not nice on the face especially if you have sensitive and dry skin like me

I have the same problems as other reviewers. As far as I am concerned it works okay but is just about impossible to clean. Possibly as a result of this, yesterday the whole thing came apart and the great long bristles came out in chunks. Just like the photo someone else has posted.
I have several other Quo brushes and the travel set but they don’t get as much use as the daily foundation brush. For that I will switch to something else.

This is a soft narrow brush that works fine to put on foundation, but it’s just too hard to clean. I tried every soap and finally got most of it clean with baby shampoo, but the residue still won’t come out. I find it a very messy and unhygienic way to apply foundation. Since the brush doesn’t work to fully blend, you still need a blending sponge. It works better to apply with fingertips and then blend with a decent sponge that washes out quickly. Quo is a drugstore brand that is expensive for no reason – they are not better products than real name brands.

This is one of the worst brush I ever used! The ferule as come loose with time and it simply does not apply foundation properly.
The bristles are too long, to short and too slippery making it unprecise and streaky. The only use I found for this brush is to apply face masks.

I was quite impressed with my Quo foundation brush, It blends foundation quite well and doesn’t leave streaks. It also has a great shape for blending in spots such as the nose creases, under eyes, and jaw areaPicks up a lot of foundation so be aware of that because it also makes it a bit harder to clean. Started shedding its hairs after a few months which I had hoped it would have lasted longer. The hairs are very soft, but also very absorbing. Therefore, it absorbs a lot of the product, cleaner, water, so I would safely bet that it absorbs oils and moisturizer from your face. I find it is hard to clean and takes a very long time to dry. I recommend a good soak before an actual cleansing, and have another brush on stand by because the drying process can take up to 24 hours.
PROS: great shape, soft, blends well, absorbs product well, no streaks left behind, durable, isn’t overpriced (probably the best professional quality brush for under $20)
CONS: takes a long time to clean, long time to dry, hairs will shed after awhile, handle is a bit long for my personal taste,

For the most part, I like this brush. It does a pretty good job and is very soft and seems well built. It doesn’t shed and can be streaky, but it’s easily blendable. My biggest issue is that it’s a huge drag to clean because the product gets really stuck on the bristles and it takes several washes to clean properly.

Bleugh. This starts off as a very average brush, and degrades over time. On the plus side, I had zero hair loss when washing this brush. However, even fresh from the package, it doesn’t do a great job at application. The bristles feel like they’re a little too long, and have a tendency to flick back-and-forth when using the brush. This could be why this brush creates such a streaky look, rather than blending the foundation properly. I always had to touch up my foundation with a sponge after using this brush, until I finally realized how silly that was, cut out the middleman, and stuck to just using a sponge.
Another problem is how difficult this brush is to wash. As I said, I had no loss of the bristles in the whole time I used it. However, I could never get the brush quite clean, although I washed it every night. I though this might have been my fault, but reading some of the other reviews here, I’m reassured to learn this wasn’t a unique phenomenon. Over time, more and more of the bristles began to clump together, creating an even streakier finish every time I used the brush.
Although Quo brushes are sold in the drugstore, they’re certainly not dirt-cheap. There are plenty of serviceable, cheap brushes out there if you’re looking to save some cash (Annabelle and Ecotools come to mind). It could be that I’m also bitter that I paid full cost for this brush, as I did all my Quo brushes, before I found out that Shoppers Drug Mart has these brushes on sale for 40% all the time (But although you could be buying your brush the day before that sale, the salespeople at SDM will never tip you off). I have a few other Quo brushes I like, but I give this one a pass.

This review is not for the brush’s intended use, which is for foundation. Elf should rebrand this brush to be a face mask brush instead. This is perfect for that. It spreads my mask evenly every time. Clay mask, sugar exfoliating mask, banana mask, any kind of mask would work with this brush. If you have one laying around, but it fails you with your foundation application, try using it for masks instead. I think they discontinued it, cause I don’t see it anymore on the Elf’s website?

Hate this brush for foundation–it’s super streaky and applies too much product, you can literaly see the streaks.
HOWEVER.. It is literally $1 and is PERFECT for applying face masks! I will never use my fingers to apply a mask again, this applies it so evenly. I use the aztec healing clay since i have uneven/acne prone skin. Definitely recommend it for this purpose!!

I’m yet another person for whom applying liquid foundation with this brush was a failure. I got some shedding when trying to work the product into the skin, and the foundation ends up looking streaky and uneven. I rarely wear foundation regardless and prefer a blending sponge for it in the end. I too ended up using this for face masks (on the rare occasion I apply one) and it works a lot better for that purpose. If it falls apart eventually I don’t think I’ll repurchase it unless I need a face mask brush/tool.

I use to apply foundation all over my fave and then blend with a beauty sponge. It works for the way I use it which is basically just to smear it all over my face first before blending. If you were going to use it on it’s own to blend in foundation it will definitley be streaky.

This is crap at its intended purpose. The bristles are dense and it splays about as you attend to apply your foundation, making it uneven and splotchy. Granted, I’ve never had luck applying foundation with a brush, but it’s particularly bad with this one. However, it’s fantastic for applying face masks. It’s still uneven, but it’s not as bad as with liquid foundation (not to mention you’re removing it in like ten minutes anyway). I always deep clean it after use and mine is still going strong seven years later. I haven’t had bleeding or shedding either so there’s that too. I just would avoid using it to apply foundation.

By far the best brush I have used thus far for foundation. I used to use Quo (which is great, but hard to clean). I had asked the cosmetician at Shoppers what she recommended for a brush and without hesitation she pointed to the Lise Watier brush. The price was $25, but if your someone like me who will use it daily, I highly recommend a good brush no matter what the cost. It is very soft, right amount of stiffness, rounded shape is perfect, and it blends very nicely without leaving any streaks. I haven’t washed it yet, so I’m curious to know how well it washes and if it will start shedding and how long the dry time is. I kept the packaging that goes over the brush part because it keeps the brush from touching my other brushes and bag. The handle is slim and short, which I love. I am one of those people that has my face up very close to the mirror when applying makeup and can’t stand long handles on brushes. I have what one would call an angular face, and this brush was very good for blending each angle and around my nose. I have no cons to add.

I hate to say this because I love other Lise Watier products & like to support Canadian companies, but I wasn’t completely happy with this brush.
It isn’t the worst brush I’ve ever used, but after I applied the foundation with it, I had to blend it further with my finger tips to get rid of the very fine lines the bristles of the brush left. If I have to use my fingers anyway, what’s the point of the brush? ( Btw, I tried this with 2 different foundations just to make sure it wasn’t that particular brush/foundation combo )

Amazing foundation brush! I had this make-up brush phase where I basically wanted to own almost all of them haha and when I went to Sephora their foundation brushes cost a fortune! I came across Lise watier’s foundation brush and it only cost $25 CAD and it was basically less than half the price from the brush at Sephora. I’m so glad I found this brush because its great, it doesn’t leave streaks on my face, it doesn’t shed when I wash it, and I’ve had it for almost a year and I don’t plan on replacing it anytime soon. ive always been a sponge girl, i never thought it was worth the money to buy a brush when you could buy cheap sponges.
i think sponges absorb alot of the foundation and the result is a streaky, unnatural masky look, especially when you’re in a hurry! obviously thats not the look that ANY GIRL would want.
what inspired me to buy a foundation brush was becuase i finally splurged on the makeup forever mat velvet foundation. i love the foundation, but i felt the sponges were ruining the look of it. i looked very fake and blotchy. so i wanted something cheap with good quality. i thought maybe i shoudl buy a quo foundation brush becuase theyre the cheapest ones at shoppers ($22 canadian) but the lise watier brush is MUCH softer and only 3 bucks more. i am a proud owner of this. it looks SO natural. i saw NO streaks or blotchy spots on my face. you get the coverage you want, without using so much of your foundation.
the packaging is great. its so sofisticated. it comes in a little plastic bag, with a cover on top so if you carry it around with you (althought you shouldnt anyways), the hairs won’t get damaged.
I AM NO LONGER BUYING SPONGES EVER!

I think they shouldn’t have called it a foundation brush. It’s just not good for that purpose, IMO.
BUT! it’s so great for contouring the areas on your face (except the nose). I apply a line of powder contouring and blend it with RT contour brush. My contour lines look not muddy. They look natural as possible and well blended.
If you want to contour your jaw line with this, I would say go for it! I tried to contour my jaw line with many other brushes but it never looked right. If you use this foundation brush and a brush for blending you will see a satisfying result! My search is over for my whole lifetime.

This brush was good to start with, it was soft and easily spread my foundation. When I washed it, however, it completely changed! After one wash the bristles were not soft anymore, and they left streaks on my face. Very disapointed for the £12 price! My superdug own brand brush is better than this.

I wouldn’t have marketed this as a foundation brush – I’d say it’s better for tinted moisturisers or BB/CC creams. Initial application is very streaky, but with a little TLC, you can easily work the product in better. If you’re someone who is always in a hurry, this brush is not for you. I find this brush gives very good coverage, but would likely cause thicker/long-wear foundations to cake on your skin.
While I wouldn’t repurchase, I do reach for this to apply my moisturizer, or tinted moisturizer. Also doubles up great for applying face masques. The one time I did try it with foundation (Revlon Photo Ready), it caked up like you won’t believe.
Really not a bad brush, but don’t buy this if you’re fast on the go, or if you’re one for heavier foundations.
The plus side of this is that it’s held up beautifully in the 1.5 years that I’ve had mine – hasn’t shed a single hair, super easy to wash, and maintains its form wonderfully. Doesn’t soak up product at all. Especially good at reaching the crevices of the nose, and under the eyes – much better than any other brush I own.
Definitely a fun brush to have in your collection, but not something you’ll likely reach for every day – and definitely not a make up brush staple.

I was very disappointed with this brush, to say it’s meant to be a foundation brush, I think it’s rubbish for applying foundation. It just made the foundation look very patchy and left lines and basically just smeared the foundation on my face, not blending it at all. I do occasionally use it to dab a small amount of concealer and it isn’t too bad for that job but for applying concealer I think it doesn’t do a good job at all and is definitely not a flattering look at all:)

I use this brush every day for my foundation. For the price, it has done a good job. It is soft and dense, and does not leave too many streaks when I apply my foundation.
I spray it every day with an alcohol/water solution, and shampoo it regularly with hand soap. I am quite rough with it during cleaning, but it has held up very nicely. Even though I am not careful to keep the water from soaking the adhesive at the base of the bristles, it has not lost any volume.

I really like this brush, however I don’t use it to apply foundation, I use it to apply charcoal peel off masks. The mask is thick and gloomy and needs to be applied precisely to ensure it is not placed on hair, blemishes, sensitive skin, etc. It also needs to be applied fairly thick.
This foundation brush handles the application process like a breeze. With a few swipes I outline my perimeters, then begin filling the remainder. Using my fingers to apply took forever and made a huge mess – I’d get black smudgy marks everywhere and my application was very uneven. The bristles of the brush do a great job of evenly applying the mask, so I don’t have any more patchy spots anymore.
I will definitely replace if lost, but don’t love the brush so much that I need to buy a backup.

I have the Sonia Kashuk foundation brush NO.404 (I think…) and I bought it for around 10 bucks. I don’t think it was a deal, it was just an ordinary quality brush. It’s synthetic, so it doesn’t feel as great on the skin as other brushes do, but hey, it was 10 bucks.
It’s a bit stiff, and it creates small foundation lines when blending, I found that it was fairly difficult to blend without the foundation looking patchy and gross in some places. Just my opinion, I find it easier to blend my BB creams and my foundations with my fingers than using this brush…
It just kinda sits in my makeup bag, not much use for it!

This synthetic brush is not as good as I thought it would be based on the reviews. The fibers are hard and stiff, and there are too few fibers in the brush. It left my makeup streaky and uneven. I would not recommend buying this.

This is the foundation brush I’ve had for almost 2 years now. I really love it, I mean, it works well. It’s just that it’s hard to clean. Foundation sticks to it and doesn’t come off easily. That’s the only con of it.

This is for the black-handled brush. This was my first Sonia Kashuk brush, and it didn’t disappoint me at all. It hasn’t shed at all in the 1-2 years that I’ve had it, it doesn’t absorb all of the product (thus it isn’t wasteful!), and is great for non-streaky application. I regularly use this brush to apply my foundation, although occasionally I will go back to my duo-fibre skunk brush.

I LOVE Ulta brushes. I have several and they just keep going like iron. Multiple shadow brushes, fan, blending, concealer….. I bought this foundation brush after a VERY expensive, piece of crap Bare Minerals brush fell apart after less than 6 months and the Ulta brush is far, far better quality. I use it with Pixi H20 Skin Tint and it works like a charm. I don’t mind spending money if I feel that I’m getting a value.. but ladies, just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s quality. All Ulta tools are excellent quality and a real value.

OKay, so this is the first foundation brush I have evern purchased. It’s been a while since I have worn liquid foundation so when I decided to try some at Ulta I decided to pick up a brush. I was always kind of leary about t hem, thouht they would be hard to use and diffcult to apply makeup with. By was I wrong. THe brush was so soft and application was a breeze. My makeup looked great when I was done!
What’s even better is that I got some coupon for it and only paid $14 instead of $18- def worth it!

I spent a good day looking at different foundation brushes like this one and found no difference between them all. I had 20% off on top of it so this was a no brainer. Only dislike is the clear handle as other posters have mentioned.
BE artist Bravon likes to use a brush like this to lay the minerals before buffing, this is especially helpful for women with large pores. It works GREAT. I stiple the minerals on my face and buff a bit to blend. It has a great many uses besides liquid foundation!!
The price is too good to beat and the quality is there, try it out!

just purchased this brush at Ulta the other day since i have started using cream foundation, and it’s great! very soft, nice quality, good size, and it does the job very well. i use it to apply the foundation and i also use the flat side of the brush to kind of stipple the makeup on. the tip of the brush reaches right up under your eyes perfectly to conceal dark circles. i just can’t see spending twice (or more) as much for another brush when this one is so nice. the reason i only gave it 4 lippies is because i don’t care for the clear plastic handle, it makes it look cheap. other than that, couldn’t be much better.

I have tried the Clinique brush and this is comparable, and 10 dollars cheaper. It is better than the essence of beauty brush I bought at CVS for 12 bucks. Clear winner in my book.

This is the first foundation brush I’ve ever tried and I really like it! I got it 1/2 off so couldn’t beat the price! It felt strange “painting” makeup on my face at first but the results are great. Can’t believe I’ve just been using my fingers or a cheap sponge for so long! This is so easy to use, feels so nice on my face, and gives fantastic coverage. Highly recommend this foundation brush, esp. if you don’t want to spend a lot of money.

I wanted an alternative to MAC’s 190, and this really does the job. The bristles feel very nice, and like another reviewer said, not scratchy at all. The only thing I don’t really like is the clear plastic handle — it’s a little cheap-looking and the bottom chips easily.

Yes, yes, yes, this brush is fabulous! I’ve never been a fan of paddle foundation brushes but this one has changed my mind, the day I bought it was the last day I applied foundation with fingers.
First off, it’s super soft and distributes foundation flawlessly in very thin layers, the difference around my nose is super noticeable. I just dot my face with foundation, apply with the brush is gentle upwards/outwards strokes and sometimes swirl/buff it with my MAC 187 but this step is mostly for the fun of it. The skin looks very natural and you can add a second layer where needed because it applies it in super fine layers whilst still looking natural.
I still like the Shiseido Perfect Foundation Brush too but I use it mostly for travels because it’s a pain to clean and takes long to dry but the small size of it is convenient when packing. The Lancome one has become my everyday foundation brush because of the natural finish it provides, it’s much easier to clean and dries fast – you still have to wash it after each use. Definitely not cheap but well made and durable.
I’m thrilled!
EDIT: After a year of use the Lancome brush is still a firm favourite. I did notice that although I washed it with either baby shampoo or dish soap after each use after some months there was a lot of foundation built-up so a wise MUA member advised me to use oil instead. Miracle! Now I have some olive oil in a hair serum bottle near the sink and rub some amount in before the daily washing. Ever since I started doing so my brush looks brand new again. There’s no doubt it will last many more years and quite possibly I won’t need my backup eithyer. I LOVE IT!

I splurged on this brush a long time ago and ended up not using it much at first. It didn’t seem like anything special. I’ve since tried it again and really like it. The tapered shape is useful for working foundation around my nose and eyes. The brush is good if full coverage is desired as it picks up a lot of product. Not so good for trying to apply foundation with a lighter hand, or if doing slap-dash make-up and not having much time to blend. Once I realized that, I know to only reach for it when taking the time to do full-coverage make-up for special occasions.

Best foundation brush out there! I have ones from Estée Lauder, Napoleon Perdis, Benefit, Chanel, Dolce and Gabbana, Tom Ford, etc and the only brush that I like just slightly less is the one by Gorgeous Cosmetics. The Lancôme brush is tapered, so I can get around the eye area, yet super dense so I can get full coverage if desired! I use this brush on all my clients and it’s a go to! I have 15 of them, that’s how much I love it!!! 🙂

For a few more dollars, my MAC brush has lasted for (I kid you not,) a solid decade of use. For ten dollars less (or even less than that on BOGO,) my essence of beauty brush has been a nice companion to my MAC brush when it’s being washed or I’m traveling.
Benefit? Does not maintain its shape well after washing, is mediocre in quality, overpriced despite being the cheapest among dept store brands, and the bristles are not cut evenly. It sucks.

Very, very soft which I like ’cause I use this to apply Moon beam on my cheekbones every day. The slim tip makes precise application easy as I also like to dab a little just under my eyebrows. I never use this with foundation because the hairs ain’t dense enough.

This was my first “high-end” brush. I bought it a long with some-kinda-gorgeous and that gal. I used to use it with both daily, but since I’ve switched over to a tinted moisturizer I’ve only been using it with primer. It worked great with my foundation – no brush streaks as many others mentioned – bu not so well with the tinted moisturizer. I’m not sure why, but the brush strokes went away with more blending anyway so not to big of a deal.
The brush is really great quality. I almost daily use my antibactereal spray and wipe it down pretty harshly with a napkin, and so far i haven’t noticed any strands coming off. It has lost a bit of it’s shape (I squeeze it pretty hard with the napkin though, so understandable)…but after washing, it seems to bounce back to it’s original shape. The only complaint I have about the quality of the brush is that the “Foundation – Benefit” wording has almost rubbed off completely, which kind of sucks because it just looks like a plain old brush with out it…not really important, but for twenty bucks I expect good quality ink 🙂
Oh, and I’ve had this for about eight months…I’m not sure what the typical life span of a brush is…but this one feels like it’s got many more days ahead of it.

This is the only foundation brush I’ve ever been completely satisfied with. My foundation always goes on nice and smooth with no streaking or brush marks. The bristles are so soft. It really seems to make the foundation go a lot farther too. I find I’m using less since I started using this brush over a year ago. Its also stood up to a lot of wear and tear with daily washings.

This brush is fantastic! The bristles are really light and soft and I find they make applying foundation a breeze. Foundation doesn’t seem to stick to the bristles at all, meaning you use very little. It also doesn’t leave any bristle/streak marks on your face either…unlike my previous brush. Amazing.

I’ve had this brush for so many years, I can’t even remember how much I paid for it. But honestly it rarely gets used. I almost always use my fingers to apply foundation, and then I’ll notice this brush just sitting there and give it a try. It’s a well-made brush with smooth bristles, and is firm enough to work, but… my fingers just do a much better job at blending. I wouldn’t repurchase this, but I wouldn’t buy another foundation brush, either. I don’t need one.

This is the first foundation brush I got and I’m still using it because it’s still in pretty good condition. (Been about 2 years). The price wasn’t too bad and you can buy it at local drugstores. This brush is okay for beginners. It does give good coverage and and streaking is minimal but there is some and that’s why I’m switching to a new brush (sigma f80). It doesn’t give you a airbrushed finish whatsoever! It’s a pretty strong brush but it’s kind of hard to wash because foundations goes everywhere and I use the revlon colorstay which is known to be super hard to take off because it STAYS on your skin. So I guess it’s an alright brush.

I know that most people prefer a stippling brush to a foundation brush, but I’d take this foundation brush any day over anything.
I use my foundation brush with MAC foundation and I dampen the brush before applying.
Though upon the first couple of strokes the brush looks like it will streak, it produces an airbrushed look every time.
I love this brush and would compare it to the MAC 190.

I have this foundation brush as well as a few of the other brushes from essence of beauty because they are so cheap at the drugstore. It works very well with the cream foundation that I use in the winter and cleans up pretty well, too. The bristles don’t fall out too much, either, which is nice. The reason I give it a 3 is because the black part the holds the brush separate from the white handle. And this isn’t a random occurance, because it happened on the double-ended blush & powder brush I have from them, too. If you’re looking for cheap brushes, I’d consider e.l.f. I have some of their brushes, which are dirt cheap, and they have held up very well for ages.

I love this brush! I heard such good things about it, so I went to CVS and I thought I would give it a try. I love the design of the brush and the hairs are so soft; it looks and feels like a department store brush. I got mine for $10. It blends my foundation nicely and it works for different types of foundation. It’s also very easy to clean. I will definitely repurchase; I need another one to hold me over when I am cleaning the other one so that I don’t go without it 🙂

This review is for the large two toned one. I love this foundation brush! It’s larger than standard brushes which makes the application process faster. Although the brush is big it’s easy to manipulate because the end of the bristles are tapered which makes getting into corners of the nose and eyes easy with just the twist of the hand. The brush is oh so soft but sturdy enough to get the job done. I have had no fall out even after cleaning. I would purchase again.

It’s soft on the skin, it doesn’t soak up too much product, it doesn’t shed, and it doesn’t make my foundation too streaky. I tried a stippling brush beforehand to apply makeup but I found that I like a good old foundation brush better.
It’s a little expensive but it seems like it will last a while. Would definitely buy this again.

I had never owned a foundation brush before this one but had expected good things from The Body Shop. While I still do like the shape, size, and softness of this brush (plus it has never shed), it just doesn’t cut it for me. I usually have to do a fair amount of extra tweaking with a makeup sponge and/or my fingers for my foundation to look decent; otherwise it’s just too streaky and too difficult to blend with this brush. It has also been a pain to clean and as some reviewers have said, it starts to lose its original shape. Not worth the price. I’m in the market for a different brush.

There really isn’t much to the packaging. A little plastic pouch-like package that can be reclosed. Nothing to really be concerned with.
Construction:
From what I can remember, the brush itself was pretty smooth and soft. Never itchy. The handle was perhaps a bit uncomfortable while using, but seemed sturdy enough. With other brushes from this brand that I’ve used, I’ve noticed that they can wear out pretty quickly, but a lot of them won’t. Just depends on the individual brush.
Ease Of Use:
I’d say that it is best used to apply a sheer layer of liquid foundation, as it tends to not blend makeup all that well. It’s easy to get into small spaces and to spread makeup over the face. It can be a big pain to clean though, as foundation seems to simply stay caked in the bristles.
Bang For Your Buck:
While I do not want to call this a rip-off, that really is the best word for it. There are plenty other brushes that are similar but that provide better results, either for a better price or a similar price. Considering this brush gunks the makeup in there so easily, it’s not worth the price.
My Results:
Works fine to put the makeup on the skin, but did not really apply the makeup well. Would be streaky and heavy – using my hands would work better for application. I remember using it with a few different foundation as well, so it is likely just the brush itself being too stiff or slippery to really blend it in well.
Final Consensus:
A mediocre brush for a decent price, best suited towards those still playing around with makeup and who would like to practice and get the feel for makeup application. Would not personally recommend.

I have the new professional line foundation brush with the black handle.
the difference from the regular Quo brush is the bristles are softer, closer together and there are more of them.
This brush is amazing! for only $40 it will last a long time and it works better than my Red Earth foundation brush.

I have mixed feelings about this brush. I did not buy this to apply foundation even though it is labeled for this purpose. I bought it to apply masks and it does a fantastic job in that regard. I no longer have to get the mask all over my fingers and waste the product. I can apply it evenly and am glad it works so well for this, really no complaints here at all. Just for shits and giggles I decided to try using the brush to apply foundation and found this did an absolute crap job in that regard. Streaks everywhere and it accentuated my dry skin in the worst way. I think it may be the texture of the bristles or perhaps the shape of the brush or maybe both but I would not recommend this for applying foundation (or concealer). I will still use this for my face masks and do recommend you give this a try for that. It’s a good brush at a great price. As for the rating… I think this deserves a 3.5 out of 5 because it sucks as a foundation brush but rocks as a mask applicator.

You can’t beat Elf Brushes for the money. Whether you select the foundation brush or any of the others the price is amazingly great. As a former Makeup Artist, I am selective about my brushes. However getting a set of these is a great investment. Elf brushes and both a good starter brush set as well for a seasoned user’s kit.

My oh my am I glad I decided to splurge $28 CND (including tax) at SDM today to buy this. I came home and decided to apply my MAC Studio Fix Concealer with SPF 35 with this. I first dabbed concealer with a smaller brush and blended it out with this. It’s so natural looking yet covers so much! I have yet to try this with foundation but I am already super satisfied.
The one (trivial) thing I didn’t like was for the long time it takes to dry. After I washed it for the first time with baby shampoo and water, it took about 5 hours to dry. =/

I’m so disappointed with this brush. I know it’s meant to be used as a foundation brush, but after reading the reviews here, I bought it for contouring. It’s so dense that it picks up waaaay too much product, even when you try to be really careful. I look like I have rubbed dirt on my face where I tried to apply my contour powder this morning. I’ve buffed and buffed and I can’t seem to get rid of it. I’ll try it again tomorrow, but if I can’t make it work I might just give it away.
EDIT: I’ve since used it for liquid foundation/tinted moisturiser. Meh, nothing special. I pack it in my bag for when I am getting ready after the gym, because I don’t want to lose/damage my stippling brush.

As a foundation brush it was a major disappointment. I tried a few times with different products and it was just not worth the hassle. I can achieve better effects just by using my fingers. It was just spreading foundation on my face, it did not blend it, it did not look flawless – it was just meh.
For a while it was just left unused until I decided to use it for something else. It is actualy a decent contouring brush!
I have been using it as such for a while abd I am pleased. I use it with powder products.
A little disclaimer – my favourite products to apply liquid foubdation are miracle complexion sponge, stippling brush or flat top brush. I recently ditched all liquid foundation and switched to BB creams and I find applying these with my fingers works best.

Unfortunately, I can’t recommend it. For similar price @ Target, better off getting the Ecotools foundation brush. It’s much easier to clean and dry, and I get a more smooth finish. Also, I cannot get the SK brush clean no matter how many times I wash it. It just holds onto grime and ends up streaking the foundation. It hasn’t shed, but it just doesn’t cut it for me in the end.

This is for the black-handled synthetic brush. While I typically like SK brushes this one is so flimsy and thin that it’s practically useless other than to apply moisturizer. Foundation application is streaky and the brush head is so slim that I have to go over sections multiple times anyway, and I have a fairly small face. You definitely get what you pay for here, so if you’re going to buy a foundation brush save your money for a much better one from MAC, Chanel, Sephora, or any other higher-end brand.

Very happy with it. Really couldnt afford MAC or any expensive brush at the time so I went with this and while there is a tiny bit of streakiness it still gives mostly an even finish. I have found that even the HE brushes still can cause some streaking..you just have to blend it in with a sponge and your fine. For years I just used fingers but you get a lighter, more natural face with a brush. Fingers apply too much and I didnt even realize it until i saw pics that i looked like i was wearing a mask (ick!). This is a decent quality brush so far a week of having it, hope it lasts!

I bought this brush at Shoppers Drug Mart for $42 CAN. The best points about this brush are the long handle for the best control, the firmer bristles for higher coverage and for longer use (the brush’s bristles’s are very firm which is good since the brush will be ore durable and last longer), the soft bristles and the size which is perfect for getting in tight corners of the face such as around the nose area and under the eyes. The only con of this brush is that you kind of have to ‘break it in’ over a few uses since the bristles are very firm however this point will be a bonus in the long run. Overall lovely standard foundation brush!

I had a clinique one before and I loved it, so when I had to replace it I expected this to do a good job as well. (they look and feel the same) It’s a nice brush, you can tell it’s high quality. it’s very soft, applies makeup easily and smoothly. That said my only problem it that like it kind of clumps together oddly sometimes, so i have to bring the bristles together again with my fingers and smooth them out.

A great traditional foundation brush but I did find that it made my foundation go on streaky. Perhaps I just am not good a weidling this type of brush. The synthetic fibers are great and the handle semi-short. I think if you like this style of foundation brush this would be a great one for you.

My only complaint is the metal thing that holds the brush head to the handle seems to be a little loose and it jiggles a little when I apply makeup (and scares me its gonna fall off!). I went into Sephora looking for a short handled foundation brush with synthetic hair. This one is perfect. It’s stylish and feels much better on my skin than the one by lancome i had been using. it’s also easier to control. i use it with a liquid foundation. I also felt that the price was right for this quality brush.

Great brush for a low price. Works very well for blending foundation. I usually squirt out a pea-sized amount of foundation and spread it on my nose, under eyes, forehead, cheeks and chin. Then go back and blend with this brush. However I think the brush I purchased was bogus. Based on other people’s reviews I believe this is rare. After washing a couple times the bristles started to come out in chunks when I used it. I might purchase again.

**I am reviewing the Synthetic Foundation Brush** What first drew me to purchasing this foundation brush after I own so many, is that it is very large. Much larger than any of the other standard foundation brushes I own. The bristles are very soft and it’s very easy to use. I can finish my face much quicker with this brush because of its large size.. and I can still get into small areas with the tips because it’s a fairly flat brush. I love this brush for applying powder over my foundation as well!

[review is for the two-toned bristle brush, sold by itself] I bought this brush w/the intention of using it to apply my liquid foundation (duh, right?) but sadly it did a mediocre job at best. The bristles are very soft and the brush itself (as a whole) is nicely sized, though in my opinion the head is a bit too large and therefore not precise (had to tilt it on its side to get in between my brows and on the temple region, as well as for blending down the jawline). I will say that it appears to be fairly well made, especially considering the price. The bristles, while soft, are not densely packed at all, which is another way of saying that the brush head is far too flimsy and thus splays out too much the second it makes contact w/your skin. This of course leads to streaky, uneven application and why I cannot recommend it for liquid foundation. It being so soft, however (and inexpensive), I found a great use for this brush, and that is applying homemade facial masks. It works beautifully for this purpose! (Obviously streaking is not an issue here.) So I do like it for that. I’ve had it for a little over a year and have washed it countless times. The first couple of washes, it returned back to its original form, but subsequent washes led to frayed ‘flyaway’ bristles all over the place (which have only gotten worse the longer I’ve owned it). The bristles separate and ‘piece’ together in little clumps when dry, which is a clear sign of subpar quality bristles/brush head construction. (Again though, not really an issue for the purpose this brush serves me.) The handle meanwhile has remained firmly secure all this time – no loosening whatsoever. In the end I like this brush for ‘painting’ on face masks; however I wouldn’t recommend this foundation brush because, although affordable and apparently of overall good (enough) quality, it simply performs its intended purpose so poorly.
