The Da vinci 9770 brush is worth the $$$$! I first saw it on the Davinci website and fell in love with i it’s stunning good looks! I was unable to purchase it as they did not ship to the U.S. at that time. I found mine through an Amazon seller for around $38. I am so glad that I took the time to track this brush down. It is a beautifully put together brush. The bristles are very dense and it is about 5″ long and fits perfectly in my hand.
I use it 3 to 5 days a week. After each use I do a quick clean with Sephora Daily brush cleaner. Once a week I deep clean it using Beautycleanser Solid. The brush does need cleaning often in order to prevent streaking and breakouts.
I get a beautiful finish and great coverage with this brush in a short amount of time. I primarily use it with It Cosmetics CC cream. My skin type is combination and sensitive.

I was recently shopping for a new foundation brush for applying creamy foundation. After my perusal of many brushes at Ulta and Sephora, it occurred to me that I should check to see if my favorite artist brush manufacturer makes cosmetic brushes, too. Lo and behold, they do! Da Vinci is a German brush company which has been making wonderful brushes for artists of oil paints, watercolors, etc., since 1880. (I particularly love the watercolor brushes in my collection.) After some research on Amazon, I selected the brush I wanted to order – the synthetic slanted foundation brush in the 9770 Series, for around $38. Although the bristles are synthetic, they are so amazingly soft to the touch, and feel wonderful on my sensitive skin. I like that the diameter of the brush head is not huge, so I can reach all areas of my face comfortably, especially with the proper slat of the brush bristles. The brush is a nice weight and shape for my hand, also. I use the Da Vinci brush soap for cleaning my artist brushes, and they also make the same or similar soap for cleaning their cosmetic brushes. I will write a separate review for that.
This is from the Amazon link for the brush:
“Series 9770 is a foundation and creamy blush slant liquid makeup brush made of smooth synthetic.
Due to the slanted shape, every part of the face can easily be reached for perfect covering power and a flawless finish.
For application of powdery, liquid and creamy foundation without a trace.
Family owned and operated since 1880, Da Vinci is the only “green” brush factory in the world.
Handmade in Germany, highest quality green manufacturing, sweatshop free.”
If you’re looking for a superior quality cosmetic brush from a reputable company in the business for 135 years, Da Vinci is perfect!
I’ve recently ordered a powder brush and a retractable travel brush from Da Vinci, and I’m looking forward to trying those, also.
