I got mine in June 1995. My first brush, together with my first loose bronzer powder and blush powder, upon my university graduation.
I could not bring myself using bronzer nor blush so this brush just sit there all these 20 years.I wash it maybe once a year or two.. It started to shred , maybe in 8 years, around 2003. Just one or two, nothing serious. Half of the silvery paint on the handle chipped away so there is no more ” letters” remain on it.
During the past 20 years, i got a shu uemura retractable powder brush ( better use that as a blush brush) as gift. That is much softer, but round, so can’t do precise application like this one.
I will not repurchase it, cuz it is still in very good condition except for the paint, probably still good for another 20 years. I wash it usually with just plain water, sometimes with shampoo, then conditioner, and let it stand upright to dry. Oh, I use high end shampoo and conditioner ( Paul Mitchell, phyto, joico, aveda).
Lemme try to update this review every year and see 🙂

This line does have great brushes! I bought a lot of them over 3 years ago and they still seem like new. Durable! Does a great job in blending my blush. Soft. Pricey, but as you see worth it! I will buy again when needed. Oh btw, I have been using Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Facial Cleanser to clean my brushes all these years. And it has kept them in top shape!

I am not a brush person and have limited brush experience, but even I can tell this is a high quality brush. The bad reviews seem to be older so perhaps they have improved the brush or something.
This brush is very very soft and despite the fact that I have mistreated mine for over the last 2 years, the brush is still as good as new.
I have a very small face so smaller brushes (MAC 168) tend work better for me, but all in all I would say this is an excellent brush.

I’ve had my Px cheek brush for maybe about 5 years now, and it’s held up so beautifully. I don’t understand the low ratings for this. The bristles are plush and soft, nicely cut, and appropriately dense. It deposits, distributes and blends color really well. In my memory it has never ever shed on me, even when washing. The only semi-negative thing I can think of is that… well… I’ve got nothing. Of course it isn’t the be-all and end-all of blush brushes (you gotta have different brushes to achieve different effects) but it’s a good basic brush that I don’t regret buying at all. IMO it’s better than the higher rated BB.

OMG! I can’t believe, how customers aren’t loving PX brushes… I’ve been browsing through the reviews and only a hand full understand the proper usage. Plus, no product will last forever, if you’ve gotten 1+ years out of a brush and only a few bristles have come out. It’s ok.
Just a few things I would like you to do after your next brush purchase.
1st- Please wash all new brushes before using them.
2nd- Lay them flat to dry… Never stand them upright. Water will drain down and loosen the bristles.
3rd- Always use the side of the brush for application. If you’re not, then yes any brush will stick you slightly. Some more then others.
4th- Even if you’re the only user. PLEASE wash them at least ever other usage… Maybe even weekly… Just wash them.
5th- Don’t forget to moisturizer them. Many quality brushes are natural fibers, which tend to dry out occasionally.
Look, I’ve used several brands and PX’s is by far the best and not that expensive compared to other dept. store brands. Try your money with drugstore brands. You’ll replace them more often and the rough bristles will your skin irritated. I guarantee you will crown your PX brushes Queen of all others.
And if you’re still confused… Go in and speak with an actual PX analyst about application tips and proper care. It’s okay. Most of us has never been shown the proper methods to apply make-up while uses a brush.
Ohhhh… Although I highly respect everyones opinion here. I urge all those whom prefer their finger application over using a foundation brush to do a complete side by side split. You’ll notice, great tools will produce more of a polished finish.

I really like the PX brushes but I find this cheek brush to be a little small. It has a shorter handle than most of the brushes. Has super soft bristles but i find the overall shape of the head to be a little small. It has a slight angle as well which i dont like. Very good quality i just prefer other blush brushes. Retails for $45.

I just cannot believe what I’m reading about this brush. Unless they’ve changed the brush dramatically from when I initially purchased mine, it seems inconsistent with my experience.
The bristles of Px brushes are very high quality. All this moaning about harsh or prickly texture seems whiney and unfounded. I hope you’re all washing these brushes before using them for the first time. If not, I’d begin the practice–just trust me here.
If you need any recommendations on how to wash brushes, see my posting about the Presciptives Foundation Brush. There is some level of shed with almost any brush you buy. Believe me, I freak out over each and every shed of a bristle to this day! Especially with this make of brush, it’s difficult to find one that isn’t shedding to some extent. Again, wash them before using initially and be sure you’re moisturizing the bristles a little after every wash.
Also, this brush was designed to be used in a professional manner. As I often find, women tend to apply blush incorrectly, using the TIP of the brush bristles, instead of the side of the brush. Jamming and grating this brushes bristles against a compact of blush will result in major premature breakdown of any good brush. The side of these brushes should be lightly swirled into the product, supporting the bristles with a gentle thumb or index finger pressed on the opposite side.
Good luck with the use of it. I am still stunned to hear that it is not living up to expectations.

I only got this brush as a free gift years ago when I bought a ton of Prescriptives products. Its not a very good blusher brush at all, not for a natural-looking application and not easy to control how much blush you want to hit which part of your face. It can easily deposit too much colour in any one spot on your face. However, I’m not a brush junkie and hate to spend money on brushes. Hence, I’ve actually learnt how to use this thing. And now, its not so bad after all. I’ve successfully used it to apply face powder and blusher to my face with good results. But I’ll still give it 3 lippies anyway, because it really isn’t one of the best brushes out there and is not really easy to use.

this brush is ok. for this money, though, you should not be getting something so close to drugstore quality. it deposits blush chunkily (ive found better results using it with bronzer) and the hair is firm and thick so that blending is not so hot. it you are willing to spend this money, go for chanel, laura mercier, paula dorf. please dont waste it on this only adequate brush. when a previous reviewer sai this brush was a ‘workhorse’ all i could think of was how horsy and ruff the bristles feel, so i guess i agree in a way. this is the work horse. other brushes are the stallions, i guess (?)

I’ve been using this brush as both a blush and a loose powder brush for about a year. I haven’t noticed any bristles falling out, and it still looks like new! I really love it for shimmery blushes, because it’s just stiff enough to apply the shimmer, but it’s still soft and cushy on my face. It’s my favorite out of all of the brushes I own.
