   I really like this brush. The shape looks gimmicky but performs beautifully – picture a flat top brush with round cross-section, then extend the bristles of the outer 1/4″ of the diameter by another 1/4″ in length to form a longer ring of bristles. Synthetic bristles. Very soft, and great for buffing powder foundation on the skin. Thick, solid handle with round cross-section. $32, which is more than I normally like to shell out for a brush, but this one is worth it. It came with a plastic sleeve, and I still use it to protect the brush when not it’s not in use.

   Great brush for applying bare minerals original foundation. The brush is an odd design, there is a thin ring of longer bristles around the outside edge of the brush and the larger inner portion is shorter and seems to hold the powder better than a regular brush would. The handle is short and fat making it easy to hold and apply makeup in a layered circular motion. The bristles are incredibly soft and don’t scratch me at all. It isn’t cheap but I would repurchase this.

   UPDATE 1.20.2016

   I still like the brush and use it a lot. It is easily to apply liquid foundations with this, but I find myself looking for a synthetic brush that dries faster and has more of a densely packed ball-shaped head like Tarte Bamboo. This one does shed occasionally, even though I dry it flat or upside down.

   UPDATE 7.16.2015

   I still like this brush, but I should mention that after cleaning the brush, the bristles take several days to dry. I didn’t expect that from a synthetic brush. This is mildly annoying because I have to use a different brush until this one is fully dry. I used Cinema Secrets brush cleaner, and then the second time I washed it, I used a gentle unscented baby shampoo to see if that was any better. No, either way, it takes two or three days to dry.

   ORIGINAL REVIEW:

   I bought the special Anniversary Set and got both the brush and Original Foundation SPF 15 (normally $28 by itself) for $32 through Amazon. The brush alone costs $32, and I feel that’s a tad overpriced if you’re not getting the set. However, the new brush is such an improvement over the old natural hair brush which I found to be scratchy and unpleasant to use.

   The Beautiful Finish Brush has a really neat shape, designed for applying the loose powder foundations that come in the shaker container. The sides are higher than the well in the middle. This is to help prevent the loose powder from scattering everywhere and making a big mess while you work it into the skin. It picks up a reasonable amount of powder, just enough to cover the face, but doesn’t waste a lot of product.

   The bristles are synthetic so they are soft, resistant to bacteria. It feels SO MUCH BETTER than the original brush.

   It doesn’t come with a cap, so it’s not the best for travel, but most of the time it’s going to be in a glass jar in the bathroom anyway.

   I have a bit of nostalgia for the Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals brand because in the early 90s it was a fledgling mail order business and the customer service was incredibly friendly and accommodating. It was one of the few companies that made sensitive skin products that weren’t tested on animals.

   Nowadays it’s easier to find this brand – Ulta, Sephora, and Macy’s all carry the line with lots of testers. Over the years the line has added some really elegant formulations without discontinuing the old standards.

   In the beginning all the powders were loose but now you can find pressed ones, too, and recently additions include the gel cream Complexion Rescue, and the serum foundation. These sit alongside old favorites like Queen Phyllis eyeshadow and Golden Gate blush.
