Instant favorite right here.
I’d been struggling with contouring/highlighting for a good while so i decided to search for alternative tools. I’ve bought Hakuhodo’s Itabake and MUFE 158 brushes for this purpose, none of them produced consistent results. The shadow looked either too straight and clownish or too diffused. Having pale skin and almost no natural cheekbone definition also didn’t help. I had to spend half an hour to come up with a decent looking result.
I abandoned all hope and took a long break from contouring until recently i felt the urge to try my luck again and i came across a youtube video in which the girl used a huge fan brush to contour her face. It looked awkward but seemed to work for her.
I have a small face so i approach big makeup brushes with caution; having bought many brushes that i ended up selling. I had many many doubts about this brush even at the checkout because it looks HUGE and kinda intimidating. It was also quite expensive but i had to try it.
Glad i did! It instantly became my favorite face brush in my collection.
Just like other brushes in MUFE artisan line, this has wavy synthetic bristles. It’s so much softer than natural bristle brushes and never itchy (one of my complaints). It feels very pleasant on the skin and very easy to maneuver around the face. When contouring it feels like the brush does the job automatically, finding the right spots to contour. It gives an airbrushed look by depositing very small amount of product in every swipe, making any dark/pigmented shade work beautifully without turning into clown makeup. I only had this brush for a day and already mastered my contour routine in a few tries.
Another thing i noticed is that you can use it with highlighters and contour shades without cleaning the brush in between applications. The colors don’t seem to get muddy. I could contour my face, then apply blush and then highlight my face and none of these colors seemed to look dirty. Maybe it’s because the bristles are synthetic and don’t hold onto powder like natural bristles do.
It’s also so much fun to use this brush. You know when some brushes make you feel like you’re a professional make up artist? This made me feel just like that. It’s such a conversation starter 🙂
Definitely recommend this for makeup brush junkies like me 🙂
