We took my 13 year old stepdaughter to a MAC counter at Dillards so that she could learn how to apply makeup properly. I explained to the SA/MU that I would be making the purchase for myself, since we had already purchased a MAC makeup kit (Look in a Box Sophisticate) for my stepdaughter the previous day. So what did she do? She started by giving my stepdaughter a speech about the necessity of using good brushes, and she insisted that my stepdaughter had to have the 224. First, I already said I wasn’t purchasing anything for her, but seriously, that’s what you say to a 13 year old? That she needs a $32 brush in order to do a good job on her eye makeup? Thank you to the reviewers who turned me on to this brush. It is fantastic. I had to buy it online, because the 3 Targets in my area didn’t carry it. I actually like to use it for highlighter. It’s soft, and based on what I’ve read about the new 224’s, it is a better brush, and it cost me $3.99.

I love this brush! It is soft and fluffy enough to use for a transition shade — or when I just want to run something thru my crease in a haphazard way. I prefer this to others that are more high end.

You’re either a MAC 224 or a 217 fan, and I’m a 224 girl. Mine is over 15 years old and getting a little thin, so I thought it was time to get a new one, however, I was so sad to find out that they have changed it so much, it’s now rough and a little scratchy. I went on a quest to find something similar and this is a great substitute (I looked at pretty much every brush I could think of including, Hakuhodo). I use this style of brush to blend out color and this is soft and blends beautifully without taking off what I just put on. I find this softer than the newer 224, but it’s not as full. That’s okay, it still works like a dream. Highly recommend it.

I absolutely LOVE this brush! The size and the shape are perfect for blending in the crease and above. The fibers are very soft. I just pulled out my MAC 224 blending brush for comparison. The brush bristles on these two are identical in size and shape. I really prefer the SK brush over MAC one though, because SK brush is much gentler, and my MAC brush is quite prickly/scratchy and uncomfortable to use even with the lightest touch. And the price is fantastic – $5.99 for SK, compared to $32 for MAC.

This brush is a real workhorse of my morning routine. I use it both to powder-set my under eye concealer as well as to blend out/airbrush any harsh lines in my eyeshadow. It’s the perfect size for both of these purposes and has lasted me several years of daily use. I’ve considered getting the MAC equivalent several times, but they look and feel so similar it doesn’t seem worth the money until this one breaks down entirely. It *is* finally shedding a hair or two every week, but it had held up remarkably well to regular washing and daily spot cleaning.
Pros:
* amazing overall blending power (not for specific area blending)
* perfect size for under-eye and lid
* long-lasting through many washes
* great price
* potential duplicate for MAC 224
Cons:
* a tiny bit scratchy
* will eventually shed some hairs

Oh how I looove this brush! For 3.99 at Target, it really can’t be beat. It’s soft and fluffy and imho perfect for applying a wash of color to the entire lid. It also works great for applying setting powder to areas that I’ve used concealer on. It literally saved a palette from the giveaway/trash pile. It washes just fine and I’ve had no shedding. When I can find this brush in stock again I’m going to purchase a back up or two.
