Yojiya was founded in 1904 in Kyoto in Japan. Their products were made for geisha initially. I was fortunate to visit their shop and café in Gion at Kyoto. FYI – their green tea latte is really nice. Their iconic product is their oil plotting paper which something I don’t use. So I looked around the shop and came across this hand cream and decided to buy the big size which comes in a tub. I must say this is one of the best hand cream I ever used, thou still tossing if I like this or Jurlique more. Thou it comes in a tub with a screw top but it didn’t really bother me. I like the idea to control how much I want as sometime I squeeze too much from a tube.
The texture is like a silky cream with a light fragrance. I only use a small amount each time (like size of a pea). It absorbs so quickly to the skin and feels so smooth afterward. I get very dry hand over the winter and this had kept my hand so soft and nice without the stickiness.
I’m going to Tokyo in January and will definitely repurchase it again.

My friend and I picked this hand cream from the Yojiya store in Kyoto because the sample moisturized our callused hands really well without the greasy, heavy feeling you`d expect from heavy duty hand creams.(we`d been hiking in the cold for hours and the previous night had been cooking and doing the washing for a New Year`s Eve party, so our hands were suffering big time) The smell is really comforting and intimate, and not over the top. The best part is how quickly it sank in and how velvety and hydrated our skin felt. My friend loved it so much that she`s been using it as a facial moisturizer and it`s the only thing she puts on her face now after serum.(FYI she is in her 50`s with very dry skin). It`s a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way.
